Behavioral Health is as important to overall health as any other condition a person may experience in their lives. Just as heart, lung, circulatory, dental, musculoskeletal and any number of physical dimensions contribute to the overall health of an individual, so do behavioral dimensions, such as the ways individuals process information, experience emotions, cope with life’s stresses, or react to overwhelming setbacks. Mental health affects everyone. Rather than existing in isolation, physical and emotional health quite often influence each other. For example, medications to treat behavioral health issues may increase the risk for cardiovascular conditions and conversely, cardiovascular conditions may contribute to the onset of conditions like anxiety or depression.
