Why Wellpowered matters Because people matter. We are a community, meaning your people are our people, and creating an environment that encourages and supports people to show up for work each day as their whole, authenticself is the name of the game. The Wellpowered Worksites program is working hard to turn this concept into a reality, by positively impacting organizational culture throughout the Monadnock region and improving the well-being and quality of life for all of our people. As your Worksite Wellness advisors, we feel it is our job to create a wellness program that is constantly adapting to emerging health and well-being trends, as well as the current cultural climate. This mix of influences creates a wellness program that is science-backed, progressive, and equitable- making it so any organization, regardless of size or operating budget has the ability to benefit. This year more than ever, the emerging health and well-being trend is a unified need- more mental health resources. COVID-19 has turned all of our lives upside down and highlighted the immense value that having a supportive work environment has for employee well-being. This has prompted us to once again reimagine our Wellpowered offerings and create a new Signature Program to offer to our worksites. Mind Full to Mindful is a 8 month long program designed to reduces stress and improve mental and emotional resilience through gained perspective and internal resources. In addition to mental health resources, emerging trends tell us that employees are looking for more work-life balance, schedule flexibility and remote-by-design options. Research also shows that as a result of our current cultural climate, employers and employees are both looking for diversity, inclusion and belonging in their organizations.

Thank you for being part of the Wellpowered Worksites program. We look forward to working with you over the course of the next year, and as always, invite your feedback to help us evolve this program even further.

Building what matters We take pride in creating a progressive wellness program that continually pushes the envelope to do more- to do better. This driving force keeps us endlessly searching the horizon for trends we hope to introduce to the Monadnock region to help promote well-being throughout our community. However, we can not do this work alone. We need community buy-in and collaboration to create real, sustainable change. We welcome you to join us as we explore these two growing movements, and help us create a stronger more diverse and compassionate community. Workforce Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) is a growing cultural movement that is so much deeper than policies or headcounts. The DEIB movement is a combination of four equally important concepts; diversity- the representation of different people in an organization, equity- ensuring everyone has access to the same opportunities, inclusion- ensuring that everyone has an equal opportunity to contribute and influence every part and level of an organization, and belonging- ensuring that everyone feels safe and can bring their full, unique selves to work. Organizations who are embracing DEIB welcome and respect the unique needs, perspectives and potential of all their employees, resulting in an organization that earns deeper trust and more commitment from all their employees. Creating a space for employees to be truly happy and healthy. The pandemic has changed our world. The uncertainty and fatigue we are all feeling from this pandemic is impacting the way we are treating each other- these negative emotions can show up in an irate work email, poor collaboration or reduced quality of work. Our anxieties are high, and the stress and trauma are real. Research shows organizations will be more likely to thrive in the post-pandemic world if they adopt a trauma-informed model in their organization, and thankfully there are resources to help. There are many ways an organization can become a trauma-informed worksite, but understanding trauma and the role it plays in all our lives is the first step, and what we all need right now.

Wellness Offerings Each year, organizations enrolled in the Wellpowered program benefit from a variety of wellness offerings presented by local content experts (all at no cost to the organization). This rotating list is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of the organizations enrolled in the Wellpowered program. We encourage you to help us shape what these offerings ultimately become, through your feedback on your annual questionnaire.

Signature Programs Another perk of the Wellpowered Worksites program are the two Signature Programs we offer to organizations each year. Right This Way- an absolute fan favorite has been running since 2018, and new in 2022 Mind Full to Mindful. These programs are only available through the Wellpowered program, and were custom designed in-house, meaning they were tailor built to specifically meet the needs of organizations in the Monadnock region. Mind Full to Mindful is a 8 month program designed to help participants build a sustainable mindfulness practice. Throughout the first 8 weeks of the program, participants will enjoy guided instruction from a trained instructor, as well as mindfulness prompts, exercises and a personal guide book. At the end of the 8 week guided portion of the program participants will be provided the tools, skills and knowledge to successfully sustain the second half of the program which is a 6 month cohort-guided practice. Throughout the remainder of the program participants will build on the foundational principles of mindfulness through a variety of videos, thought-provoking stories, reflective questions, mindfulness activities, personal goal setting and monthly mindfulness check-ins.

This program is designed to help participants incorporate a successful mindfulness practice into their lives through purposeful awareness and meaningful repetition to form a lasting habit. Upon completion of the program participants can expect to feel more emotionally and physically resilient, better connected to the people in their lives and more in control of their thoughts and emotions- which will greatly reduce their feelings of stress.

Right This Way is a 10 week, online, holistic, team-based wellness challenge designed for people who are looking to improve their health and well-being, and have a little fun along the way! Throughout the summer local organizations take part in this community wellness challenge- stirring up some friendly competition throughout the region, while also improving their health and well-being. Right This Way uses science backed behavior change techniques to form wellness habits that produce lasting results, and unlike other “canned” wellness programs, Right This Way is specifically developed based off of participant feedback, giving each individual the unique opportunity to help develop a program that feels both authentic and effective!

Annual Questionnaire Every fall, organizations have the opportunity to assess their wellness program by completing our online Wellpowered Questionnaire. Based off of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Workplace Wellness Score Card, this questionnaire provides a baseline for organization, as well as a tool to map their worksite wellness progress over time. In addition, this allows each organization the opportunity to give valuable feedback about trainings and programs they participated in or ones they wish to be made available in the upcoming year. The Wellpowered Questionnaire is broken down into five fundamental areas of wellness, with a local resources dedicated to each answer- meaning, if your organization answered "no" to a question, but would like it to be a "yes", we can help! As public health workers, we know that the most impactful way to create sustainable change is through PPSE changes or program implementation, policy/system improvement, and environmental enhancements. A high functioning worksite wellness program is no different! Finding the unique balance that works well in your organization is key to the success of your wellness program, and we can help keep all three aspects in perfect balance. Below you will find a sample diagram of an organization's PPSE breakdown based off of a sample Wellpowered Questionnaire. (Your organization's specific PPSE diagram will be featured in your annual report).

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

Programs often focus on individual behavior change, and are short termmeaning they have a specified start and end date. Programs are often used as an engagement tool that supports a PSE change. Like starting a build-your-own salad lunch program to accompany a campus-wide healthy eating initiative.

POLICY/ SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT

Policy and system changes involve changes made to the rules within an organization, and often work hand-in-hand to produce long term sustainable change. Examples include creating a new policy that supports a flexible schedule for employees, or implementing a new system for how employee orientation is run that includes going over wellness offerings.

ENVIRONMENTAL ENHANCEMENTS

Environmental change is a change made to the physical environment. Environmental changes can be as simple as installing bike racks outside your organization. Or as complex as city-wide sidewalk installation and pedestrian friendly intersections to promote walking and biking.

Wellpowered Designation Badges Building a successful wellness program is no small task, and we believe organizations who are putting in the work should be acknowledged- often and publicly for their efforts! And this is why we developed our Wellpowered Worksite Designation Badges. Built into our annual questionnaire, these five incentive based badges correlate to each wellness category; Tobacco Free, Physically Active, Well Nourished, Family Friendly and Building Resiliency, and are earned based off of the number of resources an organization offers to their employees. If an organization is looking to earn a badge, their wellness advisor can easily offer additional supports to bolster their resources in that category to help them achieve their goal and earn the badge. For example, if an organization would like to earn the Tobacco Free badge, it doesn't mean ALL of their employees need to quit smoking (although that would be wonderful), it means that if their employees are looking to quit smoking, we can help by offering additional resources such as, oneon-one tobacco cessation counseling or at-no-cost nicotine replacement gum or patches. The requirements for earning each Wellpowered Designation Badge are tiered based off of number of employees, allowing even the smallest organization the opportunity to earn badges for their wellness efforts. Additionally, each badge is available in both a digital format and as a window cling, so organizations can proudly display their achievements in a way that works best for them.
