WHAT ARE SCRAPBOOK SKETCHES?
Think of sketches as “blueprints” for creating pages, or in the case of this book, borders for your pages. They feature outlines that give you an idea where to place your papers, embellishments, stickers and titles, and typically come in grayscale tones to help you picture the designs using the products and tools you have on hand.
HOW DO I “READ” A SKETCH?
The following gives examples of what each shape on a border sketch could represent but remember — it’s up to YOU!
Rectangle or square boxes: Papers
Long rectangles or circles: Die-cut border embellishments, border stickers, Border Maker Cartridge or border punch borders
Other shapes: Embellishments or stickers
Title: Die cut or title sticker
Corresponding shades: Can suggest using the same designer paper or cardstock
DO I HAVE TO FOLLOW THE SKETCH EXACTLY?
Think of sketches as guidelines. You can pick and choose the elements that appeal to you, create one-of-a-kind masterpieces loosely based on the sketch or completely scrap-lift the entire border sketch (this is perfectly acceptable, and in fact, highly encouraged).
