Appellate Practice Clinic: Students will represent clients in appellate proceedings before state and federal courts and tribunals, including Ohio’s Eighth District Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Ohio, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Civil Litigation Clinic: Represent clients in a wide range of cases before courts and administrative agencies in many substantive areas, including • Asylum • Immigration • Civil Rights including First Amendment and equal protection cases • Employment and employment discrimination • Wage and hour disputes • Unemployment compensation • Fair housing and landlord tenant • Consumer concerns • Breach of contract • Civil stalking protection orders • Mediation • Ex-offender reentry
Community Advocacy Clinic: Assist our community’s most vulnerable populations in the following areas of law: •P ublic benefits • Expungement •N ame change •C hild support •C onsumer advocacy •C ommunity development •L GBTQ advocacy •H uman trafficking Transactional Law Clinic: Work on the kinds of problems that you’ll be handling in the real world as a business lawyer, helping to provide advice and services in: •T ax •C orporate governance •E nvironmental law •R eal estate •C orporate policies •C ompliance with federal and state laws •E ntity selection and formation •E state planning and probate • I ntellectual property •M inimizing risk through advice on institutional policies and practices •C ontract drafting • I ntellectual property advice and filings
EXTERNSHIPS By observing legal proceedings and contributing to the work of a legal office, students receive broad exposure to the legal system. Externship placements include: • Judicial chambers • Federal, state and local governmental agencies • Non-profit and public interest organizations • Corporate legal offices POP-UP PRACTICUMS Short-term, practice based experiences that provide the flexibility for students to learn and engage with current legal issues by undertaking projects for private, public, and non-profit entities. LEGAL CAREER OPPORTUNITIES PROGRAM (LCOP) Applicants demonstrating academic excellence and writing proficiency but whose LSAT scores are below C|M|LAW 25th percentile LSAT score may be admitted to the LCOP Program.
