ABOUT THE CHAMBER

San Benito County’s economy continues on its gradual ascent.

The community tucked conveniently between the Bay Area and Monterey Bay has endless benefits to offer for businesses large and small, and the local economy keeps growing in a number of areas.

The county has a broad diversity of economic activity to show for it – with large companies like Earthbound Farm in San Juan Bautista, innovative biotech employers such as Teknova in the industrial park zone near the Hollister Municipal Airport, and up-andcoming local restaurants like Grillin & Chillin and 4th Street Eatery leading the way.

There’s such a great foundation for success with so many outdoor and recreational options in the area. The local tourism sector, for instance, has been a boon for local business. It doesn’t hurt to have Pinnacles National Park – which draws more than a quartermillion people annually – in San Benito County’s geographic backyard. Defined by its unique landscapes and broad biodiversity, Pinnacles is one of just 61 national parks in the nation – and calls San Benito County home.

The national park, though, is just one of many must-see outdoor attractions locally. Visitors can camp, hike, ride and relax at various places such as the historic mission town of San Juan Bautista, Hollister Hills Recreation Area, the winding De Anza National Trail or the tranquil surroundings of Mercy Hot Springs in the southern portion of the county.

The county with a population at over 60,000 – and steadily increasing over recent years – represents all that’s great about California with its rich diversity, mountainous landscapes, trove of recreational outlets, proximity to the ocean, love for culture and commitment to academic excellence. It still has a uniquely rural, small-town charm that makes San Benito County particularly special among communities in the region.”
