Aqua Creations was founded in 1994, by photographer Albi Serfaty and designer Ayala Serfaty, with the aim of developing and producing furnishing and lighting items through an artistic approach. Aqua Creations has continued to expand its scope over the years, while maintaining its authenticity, glamour, and poetic appeal. Today, Aqua Creations displays an extensive array of lighting and furniture lines, in limited edition custom designs, and an increasing business in the contract market. Aqua Creations specializes in custom design for contract projects including hotels, casinos and restaurants, as well as residential projects. Aqua Creations is headquartered in Tel Aviv where all the creative work, design research, and manufacturing are completed. In response to the growing demand for the designs, Aqua Creations’ flagship showroom is located in New York, and the sought-after designs are displayed and distributed worldwide. Silk Lighting General Information The monumental scale of lighting sculptures combined with the exquisite use of fabrics has become Aqua Creations’ trademark over the years. Since 1994, Aqua Creations has invented and developed an artistic artisan approach capable of being reconciled with production on an industrial scale. The result is sophisticated tailored lamps that reveal a new dimension in lighting, dream-like and surreal, constantly poised between art and design, to which an important technological component is added.
All lampshades in the Silk Lighting Collections are made of hand dyed, treated crushed silk that is resistant to mold and fire. The silk is sculpted over a metal structure. For optimal maintenance vacuum the silk frequently and avoid direct sunlight or smoke. To remove stains use upholstery foam cleaner (as these vary from country to country, testing the product on a hidden spot first is recommended). Special commercial grade resin coating is available upon request, highly recommended for pieces intended for public installations or areas of humidity or smoke. This coating does not change the appearance of the silk, but rather strengthens its texture. Silk Colors available: Orange, Curry, Smoke, Rust, Flame, Cream, Red, Dark, Silver, Gold and Grass. The silk is hand dyed, thus its colors slightly vary between batches. Please allow for fabric color discrepancies between the photographs in this catalogue and the actual silk. Fabric samples will be sent upon request. Measurements are provided in centimeters and inches, with +/- 2% tolerance. Aqua Creations uses compact fluorescent bulbs (CFL) in its designs. These bulbs create less heat than incandescent bulbs, are highly efficient, and have a lifetime of 10000 to 12000 hours. Some lamps require Screw-in Self-Ballasted bulbs and some require plug in bulbs with an electronic control gear (ECG). Important: Please do not replace CFL bulbs with incandescent bulbs. Most of the light pieces function with more than one light bulb. As the color of the silk is influenced greatly by illumination and bulb color value, it is important to be consistent and use all light bulbs of the same color value. We recommend the use of warm white, 2700K bulbs, to create an intimate, natural glow, whereas cool white, 3100K bulbs, will create a more contemporary atmosphere.
Dimming options Type A: Phase leading edge Floor/Wall dimmer controls CFL screw in dimmable bulbs or plug-in CFL bulbs with ECG. Floor dimmer is included with any portable lighting fixture. Wall dimmer is not included (to be purchased by customer). Type C: Floor/ Wall push-button (touch dim) controls plug-in CFL bulbs with ECG (DALI or DSI). Floor push-button is included with any portable lighting fixtures. Wall push-button is included with all lighting fixtures (USA only). Type E: Wireless remote control dimmer kit controls plug-in CFL bulbs with ECG (DALI or DSI). Wireless dimmer kit is included with each lighting fixture. Type F: DALI rotary dimmer controls plug-in CFL bulbs with ECG. DALI rotary dimmer with power supply is included with each lighting fixture upon request. Type J: 1-10 V dimmer controls plug-in CFL bulbs with ECG. The dimmer is included with each lighting fixture upon request. Note: Computer controlled Light Management system can be used instead of dimming device; in this case all compatibility problems should be negotiated with manufacturer and reflected in contract.
Since 2005 Aqua Creations was pioneering the implementation of electronic ballasts with Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI). DALI ballasts have a full dimming range from 1 to 100% allowing to match diverse requirements of both commercial and residential projects. Aqua Creations offers several options of DALI ballasts control: 1. Touch dim and standard dimming control 2. Remote cutting edge battery free wireless control 3. Computerized control Aqua Creations successfully employs the above technologies at all regional markets providing solutions compatible with local standards and lighting industry manufactures.

Apaya Collection
The Apaya Collection exemplifies Ayala Serfaty’s passionate research of textiles and light. Celebrating the inherent qualities of natural color and fibrous structure, wool becomes a sculptural carrier of light in a uniquely aesthetic way. The pieces in the Apaya Collection are all hand made using ecological and environmentally friendly materials. As it combines ancient wool felting techniques with modern lighting technology, the Apaya Collection safeguards heritage whilst re-inventing its future. The felted wool is molded into a singular sleeve that is slipped over a transparent cylinder. This sleeve can be easily removed for dry cleaning or exchanged for another design. Designed by Ayala Serfaty in collaboration with textile artist Irit Dulman.

Hand-sculpted out of clay, the Shasta Ceramic Table exhibits a simple and minimalistic aesthetic. With its organic shape, smooth contours and clean lines, this ceramic table serves as a side coffee table as well as a sculptural element. Designed by Ayala Serfaty, the Shasta table was created in collaboration with ceramic artist Marcelle Klein. The Shasta table is available in white or black.

The Satala is made of galvanized metal, painted in a bronze-like shade. Satala is a sculptural furniture piece, a hammock supported on one leg with a rubber coated metal ball at the end of the single foot. A mounting bracket is provided for mounting to a wall that can sustain its weight. The Satala has a removable down-filled cushion and a removable cushion cover. The Satala is suitable for outdoor use when upholstered with outdoor fabric, and mounted in a location that has a roof or shelter.

ANANA Poof
The Anana sculptural furniture pieces are created from fabric covered pods tailored to form three-dimensional surfaces. The pods are made by hand and sculpted over the piece. Hand crafting the pods produces organic geometry, at the same time both sturdy and sensually free. Legs and buttons are made of bronze-finished brass. Options: Custom sizing and shapes available. Anana can be upholstered in a single color or multiple compositions of eight different colors combined. Upholstery offered in cotton velvet or micro fiber.
