LEICESTER TIGERS RUGBY CAMPS AT RUGBY SCHOOL, ENGLAND 2015 CAMP DATES Monday 20 July - Sunday 2 August | Monday 3 August - Sunday 16 August
2 WEEK RESIDENTIAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE & RUGBY CAMPS
CMT Learning, the specialist provider of English language teaching combined with top quality sport, has teamed up with Leicester Tigers, England’s most successful rugby club, to deliver a 2 week programme for boys aged 12-17 coming to the UK to learn English and develop their rugby.
The camps are located at Rugby School, a leading English private boarding school with excellent sports facilities, and the birthplace of the sport in 1823. Here, students will benefit from 35 hours of rugby coaching, games and off-pitch learning. Sessions will include skills development, technical coaching, training games, sevens, touch rugby and a range of off-pitch seminars and workshops. Students will undertake 25 hours of English language lessons, where the teachers bring the same energy to the classroom as the coaches bring to the pitch. Students will improve their English language ability, including learning the technical terms of rugby in English. Students will have plenty of time to relax during the camp with some great excursions and evening activities, which include video evenings, ‘mini Olympics’ and even the occasional guest appearance. During the camp, students will be supported by our dedicated pastoral care team who live on site and are available 24/7.

RUGBY COACHING
The Tigers Coaches Players benefit from 35 hours of rugby and related activities led by the Tigers community and senior Academy coaches, working alongside former Tigers players. The coach to player ratio is 1:16 maximum.
Leicester Tigers have been successfully and safely delivering rugby camps for over 10 years. They conform to both England’s Rugby Football Union and the International Rugby Board’s guidance in teaching rugby. The Tigers coaches are trained to a minimum of RFU Level 2, fully DBS checked and first aid trained.
How are players coached? The camps are a great opportunity to experience what it would be like to be an elite rugby player in the Tigers Academy. The coaching programme focuses on the progression of skills, game understanding, team work and long-term athlete development. Using structured training, games and the opportunity to train against other teams, the coaches help players reach their full potential. At the end of the camp, every player receives an individual development plan compiled by the coaches, outlining areas for continued development. The camps are designed to develop players, based on the core four skills as filtered down from the Tigers Academy; Catch and Pass, The Tackle, Support and Evasion and The Breakdown. Every session has one of these core skills as its main focus, with the camp culminating in age group games. Players also benefit from evening seminars and talks on rugby-related topics, such as match analysis, diet and nutrition, tactics, sports injury management, discipline and organisation, and leadership. Every player is given a Tigers Camp kit pack, but is required to bring their own gum shield.
ACCELERATED ENGLISH LEARNING Our accelerated English language model centres on the benefits of teaching English in an inspiring sports environment. Students benefit from 25 hours of English language teaching. Well-qualified, native level English teachers motivate and engage students on a 1:12 average ratio.
How are students taught? At the start of the camp students take a short language test, which is used to place them in an appropriate class. During the camp players enjoy interactive lessons using the latest classroom technology and teaching materials. The classroom based teaching compliments and supports the coaching, which takes place in English. This model is inspired by the highly successful CLIL approach taken in many top schools around the world. At the end of the camp students take home their English workbook to show parents and friends what they have learnt. Students also receive an individual assessment from their tutor with advice on how to further develop their language skills, as well as a CMT English language proficiency certificate. All of our students see a clear improvement in their English language skills by the end of the camp.
