INTERVIEW Are you excited about your new record Something About Faith? I’m very excited and happy about the reception so far, especially having been away from the music scene for so long. For it to have debuted over here in the States as the number-one independent record is a wonderful thing. It’s great to know my fans are still there.
Tell me, who’s on your iPod right now? Other than my stuff and all the rough copies of my songs off this album, I would say I’ve been listening to a lot of old house music.
You know what, I cried when I was arrested a few months ago, and I had a video shoot the next morning. [Faith was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in August 2010.] I didn’t cry at first, but then I was like, “I gotta get outta here – what’s taking so long?” I was more concerned about getting to my video shoot.
What’s the most absurd rumour you’ve heard about yourself? I guess that I’m a drug addict and I smoke crack.
Do you ever Google yourself or read any gossip or online blogs?

Well, because I didn’t get any submissions from that genre. I had to formulate this project based on the passion of those who wanted to be a part of it. It’s on an independent label, which means my there’s fewer dollars, favourite so everyone who was artist: Jazmine a part of the project Sullivan did so because of their respect for me as an artist.

Who is your favourite artist right now? I’m feeling a lot of people. I’m liking the Nicki Minajs, the Drakes and Jazmine Sullivans of the world, in regards to people who are younger than me. But there are so many. There’s a new sensation every day.
What scares you most in the whole world? Wild animals, even if they’re not big. It sounds crazy, as I love all of God’s creatures. I’m not a person who wants to be in the mountains hiking – I’m petrified of animals that can kill me.

Can you tell me something we don’t know about you? I am really funny. I could probably do comedy, as my friends tell me that I have a wicked sense of humour. Faith Evans’s new album, Something About Faith, is out 6 December.
