Modern MI-VI Dining Meets Classic ABT Dancing Luncheon at Gulfstream Park's MI-VI features 'Chipollino' ballet presented by Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida BY BARI AURBACH
Modern dining and entertainment met classic dancing when MI-VI, the opulent new hotspot at Gulfstream Park & Casino, welcomed hundreds of Aventura Marketing Council members for a networking luncheon featuring a special performance of the beautiful ballet "Chipollino" presented by Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida under the direction of Vladimir Issaev. AMC Chair Schulman, now a shareholder in the Fort Lauderdale office of Weiss, Serota Helfman, Pastoriza, Cole & Boniske, along with MI-VI owner/legendary promoter Gerry Kelly, helped welcome guests to MI-VI (formerly known as the Sport of Kings Lounge) located on Gulfstream Park's second level. Kelly, the renowned "Impresario of the night" behind the concept and design of the magnificently-remodeled 20,000 sq. ft. venue, is a longtime Miami club promoter, affiliated with the success of Level, The Fifth and Karu & Y. MI-VI (pronounced MI-6) is adorned with exotic chandeliers and 18th century furnishings, evoking the feel of the British House of Windsor fused with Studio 54. MI-VI's respected brand of boutique dining and celebrity-packed entertainment - plus a full catering division, enhance the ever-growing list of attractions gracing the Village at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach. Expressing appreciation to AMC president Elaine Adler and Hallandale Beach Mayor Joy Cooper, Kelly noted, "It's such a pleasure to work with this community. On behalf of my entire team, we're delighted to welcome you here and look forward to hosting private parties, corporate events and special occasions including weddings and Bar Mitzvahs. We're very proud to be here at Gulfstream Park and proud to host the AMC today." For the meeting's next stellar act, applause rang out for ABTFL artistic director Vladimir Issaev and Executive Director
Ruby Issaev as well as gifted professional division and junior division dancers as the curtain went up for a special presentation of excerpts from the "Chipollino" ballet recently performed at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and the Julius Littman North Miami Beach Performing Arts Theatre. Set to the music of Russian composer K. Katchaturian, the story of "Chipollino"

takes place in the town of Limonia, where fruits, flowers and vegetables share their lives under the power of the tyrant Prince Limon. Chipollino is the young son of a popular family of onions who tries to rescue his father from jail and put a stop to the evil police. Through music and dance, Chipollino not only tells the story of this folk tale but expresses a much deeper political statement about the life and times of the author, Gianni Rodari. For the Chipollino production, Issaev renewed his choreography and the entire production for his exceptional dancers at Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida. He adapted the story, creating his own libretto in order to have more appeal for American audiences. Renowned costume designer Jorge Gallardo created the imaginative costumes

Citibank hosts Aventura Marketing Council SpeedBiz BY LYNN CARROLL
The Aventura Marketing Council's monthly SpeedBiz Meeting met for the fourth time at Citibank's Aventura branch, 2750 Aventura Blvd., and Branch Manager Paola Lobato says she's looking forward to the next one! "We hosted it in our main lobby, a perfect location," she says. "The turnout was great as always, and we've had a lot of good feedback. Some people stayed to network for another hour after Lightning Biz." Modeled on Speed Dating, Lightning Biz helps participants engage with up to 20 other businesspeople in a fast, fun networking marathon. "It's a very positive and energized experience," Lobato says. "You know it's working because not only do you see a lot of new faces, but also many business owners attend on a regular basis. It's very unique because you get a chance to meet most of the folks in the room." Citibank is one of the largest financial institutions in the world, with a presence in more than 100 countries, but for local branches, it's community that matters, Lobato says. And SpeedBiz is the perfect setting for getting to know your neighbors. "Being involved in events like this is how the bank touches the community and businesses around us," she says. "It's so important that the bank create partnerships with individual businesses that are mutually beneficial. We can help businesses grow because we are worldwide, so we can assist them wherever they go." In fact, she said, Citibank is looking to adopt the SpeedBiz format at other branches up and down the East Coast. "We featured the SpeedBiz event in our own press," Lobato said, "and managers from New Jersey have been calling to see how to do it.

"The idea is for our clients to focus on their own businesses, which is what we all like and need to do." OneBiz Center’s executive office space flexible plans, starting at $900 a month, deliver all the advantages of class-A office-space - from high-speed Internet access, advanced telecommunication systems, receptionist, and cleaning services to access to the on-site gym and covered parking. Life in the City BY BARI AUERBACH ‘Identity Theft’ The crime of identity theft affects more than 10 million Americans each year–so beyond keeping personal information confidential, it may be wise to start double checking to make sure people are really who they claim to be… Sales Associates: Good customer service should be provided by sales associates… But they could actually be “hot button pushers” hired to see just how fast they can make you lose your cool by overcharging, refusing to give you a return without a receipt, or putting the wrong order in the bag at the drive-thru window that had a 20 minute wait. Gym Members: Some people at the gym are in such great shape, you’d think they must be genetically gifted…But ultra-fit gym members may actually be fitness models paid to workout at gyms in order to inspire others to join in the hopes they’ll look just as good if they pay the membership fees.
Perfect Dates: Dating site members claim to be tall, in shape and employed…But odds are their heights are lower and their ages and weights are way higher than they say. And if their scanned picture bears a remarkable resemblance to the cologne model in the magazine you were just reading, it might be a good idea not to make the date. Facebook Friends: That strange friend request could actually be from the FBI! An internal justice department document recently revealed social networking sites are working with law enforcement to supply personal information…But they’re only targeting “persons of interest” – so if you’re not very interesting you probably don’t have to worry. Nice Neighbors: They seem so neighborly – inviting you to barbecues and picking up your mail while you’re away…But your nice neighbors might turn out to be undercover spies collecting information about what makes residents so happy. After all, there are a lot of other cities all over the world always trying to replicate the famous identity of Aventura – where crimes like “theft” are never on the rise.

Dr. Drew Schnitt uses expertise to aid Haiti earthquake victims BY LYNN CARROLL Dr. Drew Schnitt, a prominent South Florida plastic and reconstructive surgeon, recently returned from Haiti, where he participated in an initiative to provide much-needed medical services to earthquake victims. He's medical director for Our Chance International, a nonprofit, nondenominational organization that provides medical services to the needy around the world. "So far, we've sent about 25 people to Haiti to help deal with medical trauma," the doctor says, "and we are still sending teams in." The volunteers include pediatric and adult general and plastic surgeons, Creolespeaking RNs, surgical PAs, anesthesiologists and search-and-rescue personnel, all sent to help staff makeshift hospitals trying to cope with massive tragedy in a country where most medical centers have been destroyed. The volunteers work in non-sterile tent hospitals with plywood floors. Plywood and two-by-fours served as operating tables. "We had no flowing water," he says, "so
instruments had to be sterilized in bleach and alcohol." Dr. Schnitt, who operates out of multiple offices in South Florida, including a practice at 1150 North 35th Ave., Suite 490, Hollywood, specializes in the full range of plastic and reconstructive surgeryexpertise that proved very useful in postearthquake Haiti. "While I was there," he says, "I encountered a great many bone and soft-tissue traumas, with large areas of tissue missing, as well as damaged muscles and broken bones. "Many victims need orthopedic, general surgery and plastic surgery." Our Chance International abroad brings children to the U.S. from many parts of the world for treatments and travels abroad for life-changing surgery that they would otherwise not be able to receive. The nonprofit is always in need of financial support to continue its efforts. Donations are 100% taxdeductible and can be made online at ourchanceint.org; click on "How can you help?" There are many nutrient-dense superfoods that can be included in your diet to help reduce sick days and fight harmful free radicals. Sixty percent of the immune system’s receptor cells are in the colon and another 15 percent are in the lower part of the small intestine, meaning 75 percent of your immune system is “at the mercy of what’s going on in your gut” - so it makes sense that proper nutrition can support immune health. Yogurt for Probiotics Low-fat yogurt is packed with probiotics— similar to good bacteria found naturally in the intestine that can help prevent colds and improve immune response when you’re sick. Probiotics, or live cultures, maintain the balance of microflora in the gastrointestinal system, which can prevent harmful bacteria from causing illness. Fish for Omega-3’s The omega-3 fatty acids in fatty fish such as mackerel, salmon and sardines boost immunity by increasing the activity of phagocytes—white blood cells that destroy bacteria. Essential fatty acids also protect the body against damage from infection. Milk and Eggs for Vitamin D Increasing your dietary intake of Vitamin D rich foods such as milk and eggs can reduce the risk of catching a cold or flu. Research has determined that people with lower Vitamin D levels increased their risk of developing an upper respiratory infection by 36 percent, compared to those getting more vitamin D. Oysters for Zinc Oysters contain more zinc per serving than any other food. Severe zinc deficiency can depress immune function—and even a mild deficiency can impair natural killer-cell activity, exposing you to infections such as the flu and the common cold. Meat for Protein Lean red meat such as skirt steak can actually be a powerhouse for the immune system because antibodies and enzymes rely on protein to complete their tasks. Beef contains more zinc and iron than chicken or fish and high levels of carnitine, which plays a critical role in promoting cellular energy required for optimal immune function.
Grapefruit for Vitamin C Grapefruit possess antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. It also comes with a solid punch of vitamin C, which supports a healthy immune system by helping the body heal, stimulating formation and action of cells involved in the immune response, and promoting growth and repair of skin, a primary barrier against disease. Mushrooms for Beta Glucans “Mushrooms enhance white blood cells and are major defenders against infection,” states Hyla Cass, M.D., author of “Supplement Your Prescription.” Mushrooms also have anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antioxidant activity and are a source of beta glucans, which have been shown to stimulate natural killer-cell function. Nuts and Seeds for Magnesium Nuts and seeds such as almonds, flaxseeds and walnuts are a good source of magnesium—one of the most important micronutrients in the body. Low levels of magnesium can compromise the immune system and cause irritability, tension and heart arrhythmias. Berries for Antioxidants Blueberries, strawberries and pitted fruits are among the best sources for antioxidants— vitamins and minerals that help remove harmful free radicals from the bloodstream. A diet high in antioxidants can protect against cancer, heart disease, certain diseases of the central nervous system and some forms of kidney, gastrointestinal and skin disease.

A saboteur is someone who engages in sabotage and undermines the goal and prevents it from being achieved. You could be a saboteur and not even know it. There are several reasons why you may self-destruct or spoil your own efforts to succeed at something. You may sabotage yourself because you do not respect or love yourself. You may feel unworthy of the goal you desire of being slimmer, healthier, wealthier or happier. You may feel that you do not deserve to have what you want; you do not deserve something that will make you truly happy. You may not see the connection between your subconscious thoughts and your actions. You may feel guilty. When you feel guilty you must punish yourself and hurt yourself by doing what you do not want to do. There is no greater punishment than the destruction of your dreams and your happiness. You may be self-destructive because you have negative, critical thoughts about yourself. You may be self-destructive because others instigate negative thoughts
inside of you. You may not be able to avoid the people that do that to you but you can erase the thoughts they create. Remember, thoughts become feelings and feelings turn into actions. When you sabotage yourself you deliberately give yourself a handicap. You become your own worst enemy. You become full of self-loathing which reinforces your bad feelings about yourself. This exacerbates the situation and creates a vicious cycle of destructive behavior that deprives you of peace, well-being and happiness. Here are a few ways to prevent yourself from being a saboteur. Believe that you are a good person. Forgive yourself. Accept yourself. Value yourself. Respect yourself and love yourself. Think cleansing, purifying thoughts to stop the punishing, unloving thoughts. Get in touch with your own sacredness and the divinity within you. See the self-destructive act for what it really is. It is not a treat. It is a hostile, unloving act against yourself. The very act you think will make you feel better is the very act that will make you feel worse. Do no be a saboteur.

How Good Is Your Golf Game? BY DR. BRIAN HAGGARTY CHIROPRACTIC PHYSICIAN, COUNTY LINE CHIROPRACTIC MEDICAL & REHAB CENTERS Golf can probably claim the title of being the most popular sport in South Florida. However, swinging a golf club is also one of the most abnormal motions for a person’s body to make. So ask yourself a few simple questions: Do you hear your joints pop and crack in your backswing? Are you straining your muscles to get that full proper follow-thru? And, how many times have you wanted to get a nice massage or jump into a whirlpool after a round of golf due to the achiness and pain? Golfers frequently experience tension in the lower back, neck, shoulders and hips which can lead to irregularities in your swing. When your swing is unbalanced, club head speed is reduced, and causes you
to lose yardage and accuracy. Muscle tension and misalignment of the spine can also affect the natural plane on which the swing should follow in order to execute that crisp, clean, and accurate shot we all desire. Through chiropractic care, the body’s motion can be unlocked to improve flexibility and range of motion. Doing so can create a more fluid movement in your swing, as well as decreasing the risk of injury to your body. The PGA and Senior Tours have travelling chiropractors who provide care to the players and believe that over 80% of all injuries on both Tours are related to the spine, and over 70% of the golfers are regular recipients of chiropractic rehabilitation and maintenance. When you maximize your performance by reducing the pain and tension in your body, your golf game is sure to improve and you are able to enjoy your day on the course much more!

Everglades’ water is essential to South Florida’s existence R. Kenneth Bluh KENNETH’S COMMENTARY There is little scientific truth to the old saying “Man can live on bread and water alone.” But, try living without water. It cleanses our body; it cleans are clothes; it irrigates our farms. It is basic to our very existence. The source of Southeast Florida’s water is the Everglades. For years, the “River of Grass” has been under attack — first from the government which erroneously dug canals to drain it, to overzealous real estate developers building single-family home subdivisions, to farmers dumping fertilizers into the watershed, and to the community’s general neglect. Florida Gov. Charlie Christ, recognizing the need to purify the waters entering the Everglades, originally proposed and negotiated Florida’s largest land purchase for the acquisition of 181,000 acres of U.S. Sugar Corp’s farmland. The intent is to end sugarcane farming on the land, which
would result in greatly reducing the dumping of phosphorous fertilizers into the Everglades. The idea was conceived during the boom when money was available for any worthy, and sometimes unworthy, projects. The original cost of $1.34 billion has now been reduced to $536 million for the purchase of 72,000 acres of farm and grove land. Let’s step back for a moment and understand the logic behind the purchase. Water flows from the north, down through Lake Okeechobee, through the sugarcane farms into the Everglades. The fertilizers used by the farmers to grow the cane wash down with the flow of water where it contaminates the Everglades. Since the plans original conception, the scarcity of dollars in Tallahassee twice has caused a reduction in its original size and in cost. However, regardless of its downsizing, the concept is correct and the need for its implementation is ongoing. Objectors to the deal, from the very beginning, claim that it is a sweetheart deal for Gov. Crist and U.S. Sugar Corp. Sweetheart deal or not, the purchase is vital to the continued growth of our community and our ever-increasing demand for water. Florida Crystals Corp. and the
–– VIEWPOINT –– Miccosukee Tribe are urging the water management board to kill the deal by not extending the Mar. 31 deadline to complete the purchase. They claim that the agency’s own financial advisors and budget managers predict gushers of red ink and major cuts to existing projects — even without the $45 million in annual debt payments to finance the purchase. The tribe contends that the cost is so prohibitive that if the Water Management District proceeds with the purchase, it will be forced to eliminate or delay other planned Everglades’ restoration projects. Without exception, every environmental group in and outside of Florida endorses the purchase. The Everglades Coalition, made up of Florida’s largest environmental organizations, dismisses the claims that the purchase was designed to enrich U.S. Sugar and that the most critical lands are
not in the purchase. The tribe’s contention that the state doesn’t have the authority to proceed with the sale of bonds to finance the acquisition has been struck down by the courts. Now the only question remaining is will the spending of $536 million to buy the land possibly slow or eliminate other restoration projects. Inasmuch as we don’t have evidence that buying the U.S. Sugar land acquisition will end other projects, the state must continue with the purchase. Are smart phone ‘apps’ smart enough to trust?
Al Sunshine 4 YOUR MONEY From paying bills via the Web, to online purchasing, there’s no denying a technological revolution is taking place that is changing the way we deal with our home finances. First it started with at home computers, then there was the laptop, and now even our cell phones are making it easy to manage our money. But with all of this mobile access to our personal finances the question is, “Are they also making it easier for us potentially to get ripped off?” Smart Phones, whether it’s a Palm, iPhone or Blackberry — or any other variation — are not just for quick phone calls anymore. They’re changing the way we live. Anything can be done on a smart phone, from simple things like emailing, online banking and watching local cable television shows, to more complicated functions such as planning and purchasing vacation packages and ordering a personalized vehicle through your phone. Who even chats on the phone anymore? Texting is the new age of communication. In recent years it has even invented its own code talk. (For example, “brb” means “be right back.”) There now are thousands of mini-programs called “apps” which are available to turn our smart phones into very personal digital assistants. There are apps available for anything you need, from finding a local restaurant, using GPS to track your location and give directions, to an app that lets you know what sales are going on in the stores nearest your home. Kendall resident Miriam Vazquez mentioned that she uses her smart phone to check her finances and keep up with her monthly expenses. “I pay my bills,” she explains. “I pay my Chase and Bank of America cards, because I have them locked. I don’t have to wait to get home or get to work to pay my bills. I can just do it easily wherever I’m at.” But are smart phones smart enough to trust with our family finances? Which raises another important question — if this information is so accessible, who else has access to it? There is an app for that too! If you’re looking for help in managing your money there are financial apps for just about anything, whether its balancing check books, paying bills, tracking investments, even helping get your taxes done. Most cost just a few bucks and many are free, depending on your service provider. And Consolidated Credit Counseling Services just released a new Family Budgeting App to help
track your spending and see where you may need to cut back. The best feature may be its cost, which is free. Howard Dworkin of Consolidated Credit says, “The new generations of consumers are tech savvy and we built this application in mind with their users. It will allow them the opportunity to slowly dig into their budget in a fun and easy manner.” Yet, while the latest smart phones can be very helpful, don’t forget you are trusting your personal financial information to a small device that can easily be misplaced, stolen, or hacked into. Bank account numbers, passwords, critical private data may conveniently all be in one place, but while they’re easy to use, they’re just as easy to lose. Once this information is stored into your phone, anyone with access to your device potentially could have access to all of this personal information. Luckily, many of these smart phones are equipped with a protection device setting, such as a keypad lock or password protection. It’s a code that you can set and activate under the settings of the phone. Anytime you place the phone down and it’s not in use for a specific allotted time, it goes into sleep mode. In order to re-activate the screen, that code must be punched into the keypad for usage. It’s a good idea to use this security function if you plan on doing any type of personal family financing through your phone. Certified Financial Planner Matt McGrath of Evensky and Katz in Coral Gables says, “The first thing to think of is to ask yourself what you’re doing with your personal information. Who are you divulging it to? Security is going to be the most critical factor to keep in mind, especially with smart phones with Wi-Fi networks. You don’t want to be at a local coffee shop doing your online banking using a Wi-Fi network.” That’s because most public Wi-Fi networks offer limited network security and cyber-thieves can steal your information. And that’s why Miami resident Gloria Suarez is sticking to her plain old, basic cell phone. “I do things the old fashioned way,” she explains. “I still pay my bills with checks. I do use a check cash card at the grocery store, but I’m not technologically advanced.” You also want to make sure you know the financial apps privacy policies. If you upload your financial or tax data, what happens to it and how do you make sure your financial data stays private? Also, be sure to keep backups of your financial programs and all your data just in case the phone breaks, is lost or stolen, or you forgot to charge your phone again. Let all who are hungry come and eat BY RABBI JONATHAN This month, Jewish kitchens all over the world have been in a whirlwind. It takes days—even weeks— for some families to prepare for the Passover holiday. Food has to go out and food has to come in. Dishes must go down and dishes must come up. Recipes are doubled and tripled as we take numerous trips back and forth to the grocery store. Every year on Passover, I feel I am in the wrong business. After my first trip to the store, I realize that I should be in the Kosher for Passover food business. Why? On all other nights, a box of crackers costs a certain amount. But on Passover, it costs double. On all other nights, a giant, thick challah costs three dollars. But on Passover, one box of flat, parched, shmurah matzah can cost up to twenty dollars. These are the questions I want to ask each year. Why is it so expensive and so time consuming to observe the festival of Passover? Maybe it was part of the original plan. Thousands of years ago, our sages instituted four special Sabbaths that led up to the Feast of Freedom. The first of these is Shabbat Shekalim, the Sabbath of the Shekel coin. The Talmud (Megillah 29b) explains that one and a half months before Passover, a half Shekel coin was collected from every Israelite for two reasons: One, as a census, and two, for the Temple service, to pay for the animals that would be sacrificed in the coming year that begins with Passover. But inflation has taken its toll over the years. In our generation, the high cost of kosher for Passover food obscures the original intent of the holiday. Thankfully, the Torah and the Passover Haggadah remind us of the true symbolism of eating unleavened bread. In Deuteronomy 16:3, the Torah refers to matzah as lechem oni, which can be translated as “bread of distress,” “bread of affliction,” “bread of poverty,” or “bread of persecution.” It means bread eaten only by the most poor and deprived, the most destitute and desperate. It is eaten only by those who have no other choice, by those who would otherwise perish from starvation. The term oni, “afflicted,” is the same word used by the Torah to describe how the Egyptians treated the Israelite slaves.
The Egyptians afflicted us with back breaking labor and with sustenance of the most lowly and humble character. At the beginning of our seders, we hold up the middle matzah and recite a few lines in Aramaic. Ha lachma anya di achalu av’hatana b’arah d’mitzrayim. It means, “This is the bread of affliction that our ancestors ate in the land of Egypt.” This is the bread of poverty, the bread of persecution. With these words, we introduce the seder meal by describing the most central food item—the matzah. Note that we do not say, “This is the bread our ancestors ate on their way out of Egypt.” That is the other well known explanation as to why we eat matzah on Passover. Elsewhere in the Torah, unleavened bread is referred to as the “bread of haste” that our ancestors ate in speed while rushing to leave Egypt. But the Haggadah does not describe the matzah in this way. Instead, it understands the unleavened bread to have been the daily fare of the ancient Israelite slaves. It was the food consumed by human beings who have lost their humanity. We break it to show that it was eaten by those whose spirits were broken and crushed. In a solemn and poignant act, we stash away a piece of the broken matzah for later. It becomes the Afikomen, the object of a playful game of hide and seek. But the idea of someone who is so desperate, so starving, and so terrified that upon receiving a scrap of food they are compelled to immediately break off a piece and save it for later—that is a sobering image. Therefore, just as we are breaking this slave bread, we also say in Aramaic, kol dichfin yeitay vayachol, kol dichfin yeitay v’yifsach, “Let all who are hungry, come and eat. Let all who are in need, come and share our Passover meal.” We do not have much, but we invite you to share it with us. We too, are afflicted. On Passover, we are like you. Hungry, poor, and deprived. Let us eat together. This is the true meaning of Passover, and the original symbolism of unleavened bread. By holding up the bread of affliction, breaking it and eating it, we are personalizing the experience of suffering. Only when we know how it feels can we work to alleviate it in others. This Passover, do not let the market prices disguise one of the main themes of the holiday. Matzah is the bread of poverty and the bread of affliction. This Pesach, may we open our doors and our hearts to the hungry and needy.

Were you there? BY REV. WILL KEYSER An old American Folk Hymn recounts the events surrounding the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus. It raises the question Were You There?” not in the sense of “W being an eye-witness, but to urge us to focus on who you would have been and what you would have done if, in fact,””Were You there?” Consider the Disciples and the women who had been close followers of Jesus for the past three years, seeing, hearing and benefitting from all He said and did among them. Would you have remained faithful to Him to the very end, even being there to see Him crucified? Consider the crowd that welcomed Him on Sunday with shouts of “Hosanna, God save us now!” and by the following Friday were shouting “Crucify Him! Crucify Him!” and “Release Barabbas, the murderer!” Would you have joined them? What would you have been shouting? Consider Pontius Pilate, serving as a Roman Judge in Jerusalem and his counterpart, King Herod. Both were caught between a rock and a hard place, knowing who Jesus was in their minds but refusing to acknowledge Him with their hearts. Prior to this time they had been enemies but now, putting aside what they knew to be the truth, both caved in to the desires of an angry mob. Pilate, the Judge, went so far as to say three times: “I find no basis for your charge against Him” yet turned Jesus over to be crucified. From that day on Pilate and Herod became good friends. What decision would you have made? Consider the two criminals, one on Jesus’ right, the other on his left, being cru-
cified together. The one hurled insults and said: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!” The other criminal rebuked him and said: “Don’t you fear God since you are under the same sentence of death? We are being punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve, but this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said to Jesus: “Remember me when You come into Your Kingdom.” Jesus said: “Today you will be with me in Paradise.” Would you have admitted your guilt and declared the innocence of Jesus? Consider the Centurion who was guarding the cross. Seeing what had happened, praised God and said: “Surely this man was the Son of God!” Would you have agreed with him? Consider Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, both highly regarded members of the Sanhedrin, the Ruling council in the Temple. Joseph asked Pilate for Jesus’ body after Jesus had been declared dead. He and Nicodemus took the body, wrapped it in linen cloth and laid it in Joseph’s own, unused tomb. Would you have shown the courage of your belief knowing that the Council you belonged to had determined to crucify the One in whom you believed? Consider the women who were the last to see Jesus’ body being placed in Joseph’s tomb on Friday also being the first to see Jesus alive on Sunday morning. Would you have stayed home sad and discouraged that your teacher was dead or would you have gone to the tomb to hear the good news: “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here! He has risen just as he told you,” “Were YOU there when they crucified my Lord?”

2010 Audi TT is a sports car with an attitude Ron Beasley AUTOMOTIVE EDITOR
LET’S TALK CARS The Audi TT made its debut as a concept car in 1995 and consumer reaction was so strong that Audi brought to market as a hatchback coupe for the 2000 model year. It has been a barnstorming success from the start. For 2010, you can get the TT in both Coupe and Roadster models. Named after the Tourist Trophy auto race on the Isle of Man, the Audi TT is not quite a sports car and not quite a sport coupe or roadster; it’s more of a two-seat GT. The Coupe does have two rear seats, but they’re not much good for carrying people unless they’re small children. The TT was redesigned for the 2008 model year and represents the second generation of the sporty little vehicle. Although slightly larger, this second generation doesn’t stray far from the classic lines of its predecessor. The general look is the same, although character lines are crisper and the
nose has Audi’s now signature single-frame grille. Although longer and wider than the first TT, this latest version is lighter by almost 200 pounds in the case of the roadster, thanks to increased use of aluminum in the body structure. It also has a more powerful four-cylinder engine. Two trim levels — a 2.0T (200 hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine with frontwheel drive) and a 3.2 Quattro (250 hp V-6 with all-wheel drive) — are offered in a choice of hatchback coupe and roadster body styles. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual and a six-speed S-tronic twin-clutch sequential transmission that offers the ease of an automatic combined with the quick response of a manual. On the road, the 2.0T is more agile through the curves because it has less weight on the front tires, while the 3.2 Quattro has more power on straightaway and a more aggressive engine and exhaust sound. The TT has the low-slung look and feel of a sports car, but the personality is closer to a luxury sport coupe. From the side, there’s a look of poise and speed, with large fender arches housing stylish wheel options. The Coupe has a long, arching

roofline, while short overhangs in the front and rear give it well-balanced look. The TT Roadster includes integrated roll bars with aluminum inlays, which provide form and function. Integrated taillights follow the form of the TT along a subtle bodyline and incorporate a third LED taillight. On the inside, there’s a comfortable, driver-oriented cockpit with large, easy-toread gauges, and a magnesium tri-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel, wrapped in

Easter Egg Hunt Celebration at Miami Seaquarium on Apr. 2-4 BY MICHELLE PALOMINO
Miami Seaquarium will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt Celebration on Easter Weekend, Friday, Apr. 2, through Sunday, Apr 4. The annual event is South Florida’s favorite Easter Egg Hunt Celebration and features continuous Easter Egg Hunts between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. as well as a smaller “Lil’ Hoppers Zone” for toddlers. Egg hunters will have the chance to win a variety of candies, goodies and special prizes. During the weekend, in addition to the park’s regularly scheduled shows and exhibits, families can enjoy “BunnyPalooza,” five acres of adrenaline-pumping fun with bounce houses, Giant Fun Slide, rock climbing wall, Euro Bungee and other exciting activities for all ages. The festivities would not be complete without a special appearance by the Easter Bunny. Join Miami Seaquarium costumed characters Flipper the dolphin, Lolita the killer whale, Roc the crocodile and Romeo the manatee as well as Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue and special guests in welcoming the Easter Bunny with a daily parade at 11 a.m. The Easter Bunny will arrive with a golden egg which will be hidden in one goodie bag that will be given out during the Easter Egg Hunt Celebration. The Golden Egg will give one lucky child and up to three other family members or friends lifetime admission to Miami Seaquarium. Admission discount coupons to Miami Seaquarium for the Easter Egg Hunt Celebration are available at participating South Florida Publix Supermarkets during the month of March. A portion of the pro-
