Farmers Market more than just fresh produce for sale

elebrating its 20th year, the Coral Gables Farmers Market is a weekly mini-festival — the source of choice for fresh fruits, vegetables, prepared foods, baked goods, and decorative flowers and plants. The outdoor green market, held on the steps of Coral Gables City Hall and Merrick Park, is more than just a place to get fresh produce: it is a charming experience that offers residents and visitors to Coral Gables a sense of place and strengthens the links among local businesses. Taking place every Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Coral Gables Farmers Market — which began on Jan. 16 and continues through Mar. 27 with a grand finale picnic — attracts visitors for many reasons: for the healthy vegetables not found anywhere else, for the tasty treats of baked goods, and for the beauty of walking outdoors in great weather to find that perfect house plant. Downtown Coral Gables becomes the gathering place on Saturday mornings, bringing new customers to the market and attracting attention to the surrounding shops and restaurants of Miracle Mile. Tai Chi lessons begin early at 8 a.m. for the healthy living conscious, followed by gardening

City officials pledge support to National Guard, Reserves

oral Gables officials pledged their support to the National Guard and Reserves as an essential component to the strength of the nation and the well being of the community during the Dec. 15, 2009 city commission meeting. A statement of support was signed by Coral Gables Mayor Don Slesnick and a resolution was approved by members of the city commission in front of representatives from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves (ESGR), an organization of the Department of Coral Gables city commissioners and ESGR representatives are pictured after the signing of the pledge of support to the guard and reserves.

Numerous events, parties help kick off new year Gloria Burns GLORIA’S GAB The new year began with numerous exciting outdoor events. Many started the year with home parties, including Richard and Luba DeWitt who hosted Gables Rotary Club’s Annual Moose Milk Party on Jan 1. For those unfamiliar with Moose Milk, suffice to know that this concoction of vanilla ice cream and gin is not for everyone including this writer. Of course, with guests bringing their favorite dishes, food was yummy and plentiful. On Jan. 2, thousands gathered on the streets of Coral Gables to watch the 61st annual Junior Orange Bowl Parade. Festivities that night began with a preparade show, once again sponsored by Miami Children’s Hospital, featuring the Our Lady of Lourdes Dancers. Among the many enjoying the preparade in the bleacher seating in front of City Hall were JOBC past presidents, politicians and sponsors, as well as the guests of the JOBC’s biggest ticket buyer, Lynn Bauer. Bauer, who used to throw big holiday parties for children, has opted the

past few years to buy a section or two of the bleacher seating to support the JOBC and to entertain her guests. Employing the services of Burger Bob’s Rita, guests enjoyed crescent sandwiches and goodies while watching the parade. Among Lynn’s guests was Hank Langston, who chaired the very first JOBC nighttime parade many years ago, and her new fiancé, UM professor Hal Wanless. The parade this year was dedicated to the memory of JOBC past president Bob Self, who worked for decades ensuring a quality parade for our young people. He certainly is missed. In keeping with what Self strived for as a dedicated JOBC member, this year’s parade had something for everyone, showcasing much local talent as well as the participation of visiting bands, including one huge marching band that came all the way from Minnesota. On another nostalgic note, this year’s event included two cars from Carroll’s Jewelers, a parade staple for 61 years. Sadly, Carroll’s is going out of business and will be closing its doors this month. On a positive note, a new Gables restaurant, Smoke’t, has opened featuring a Southern kitchen menu. It kicked off the new year with a launch party on Jan. 4. Restaurant owners Chef Michael Altman, Brandon Lurie and John Janette received rave reviews from guests at the soft opening as the crowd enjoyed exciting menu selections that included everything

from great Kansas City baby back spare ribs, Texas style beef brisket, country fried steak, pulled pork, to creative appetizers such as Smoke’t-Red-Neck Rolls and desserts that are sure to delight any pallet. With big screen televisions all over the place, a beautiful bar, and lots of open spaces, this promises to be another “happening place” to enjoy good food, watch sports or congregate with friends. It is located on S. Dixie Highway (US1) across from the University of Miami, just south of Gables Waterway.

Finally, weather hampered an otherwise great Beaux Art Festival at the University of Miami campus on Jan. 9 and 10. Rain, wind and cold weather forced almost all the artists to close up shop early on Saturday but, despite the cold, Sunday turned into a beautiful day. Gables Rotarians were there for the fist time selling Bruce Kerestes’ amazing chicken wings while braving weather both days to raise money for their charitable fund. Shanghai resident and author Tess Johnston will deliver a lecture “Art Deco in Shanghai,” accompanied by a photography exhibition “Art Deco in Shanghai and Miami Beach” by Chinese photographer and Shanghai resident Deke Erh. Johnston and Erh are regarded worldwide as experts in Shanghai Art Deco architecture, which represents the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in Asia — and one of the largest in the world. The event, co-presented by the University of Miami School of Architecture and Goldman Properties, is free and open to the public. The lecture will take place on Monday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m., in the Jorge M. Perez Architecture Center, Stanley and Jewell Glasgow Lecture Hall, located at 1215 Dickinson Dr. on the University of Miami Coral Gables campus. The exhibit will open on Friday, Jan. 22, and remain through Feb. 2, at the Irvin Korach Architecture Gallery, adjacent to the lecture hall. It features 100 large-format framed color photographs of Art Deco architecture from Shanghai and Miami Beach — 50 of each city. “This is an important event for the School of Architecture because of our faculty’s long involvement with the Art Deco District in Miami Beach,” said Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, dean of the UM School of Architecture. “We look forward to presenting the exhibit and the lecture for the enrichment of knowledge they will provide for our school’s new Certificate in Historic Preservation program as well as for our South Florida community,” Johnston’s lively Power Point presentation starts with a stimulating, anecdotal lecture on the history of foreigners’ 100

years in Shanghai, followed by stunning images of their last glorious days of architectural expression: Art Deco. Johnston first came to Shanghai to work at the American Consulate General. In 1996 she retired and stayed on to research, write and lecture. She and her co-author, Shanghai photographer Deke Erh, who is regarded as the first freelance photographer in China, have published 25 books including 15 volumes on Western architecture and the expatriate experience in old China. This project began four years ago and originally was part of 2007 Art Deco Weekend sponsored by the Miami Design Preservation League “East Meets West: Art Deco from Shanghai to Miami.” Both Miami Beach and Shanghai have some of the largest collections of Art Deco architecture in the world. Goldman Properties, developers of both South Beach and the Wynwood Arts District, sponsored visits by Johnston and Erh to Miami Beach where Erh photographed the Miami Beach buildings. The photographs have been displayed in a gallery in the Wynwood Arts District and in Shanghai by Hutchison Whampoa, a Hong Kong-based conglomerate with extensive holdings in China. Johnston and Miami Beach resident and journalist Clotilde Luce have co-authored a book about the Art Deco treasures of Shanghai and Miami Beach to accompany exhibition. The book was produced by Miami Beach preservationists Nina Weber Worth and Don Worth. “Miami is an international city and creative exchanges such as this allow us to broaden our horizons,” said Tony Goldman, principal of Goldman Properties. “We are very pleased to be the catalyst for this project.”

The ESGR’s mission is to give recognition to the men and women who are part of the National Guard and Reserves for their efforts in preserving national security and works to make sure their employment and career opportunities are not limited or reduced because of their service. “It’s the least that we could do,” said Mayor Slesnick, a Vietnam War veteran and Army Reserve Ambassador to the state of Florida. “These honorable

reservists and their families give so much of their lives to protect our country that they shouldn’t have to worry about their employment when they return. They deserve all the support, especially from the business community.” With the signed pledge of support, the City of Coral Gables joins the Florida League of Cities and many other municipalities in the state who have executed similar resolutions in recognition of Guard and Reserve employees.

SHUFFIELD, from page 1 –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– goes to church and family as well as civic and non-profit work. A 2003 inductee into the South Florida Business Hall of Fame by the Florida Council on Economic Education, Shuffield’s community service spans decades. In addition to serving as a member of the board of trustees of Baptist Health South Florida, he also serves as a board member of Doctors Hospital, Baptist Outpatient Centers and Baptist Health Enterprises. Some of his other responsibilities focus on Florida International University. In 2001, he led his college fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta, to construct FIU’s first fraternity house. He also serves as a member of the board of directors of the FIU Foundation, and is a past board member of the Educational Foundation of the Realtor Association of Greater Miami and the Beaches (RAMB), which established the Jerome Bain Real Estate Institute at FIU in the mid-1990s. Shuffield is past president of the University of Tennessee South Florida

Alumni Association and currently is serving a term as a member of the Chancellor’s Advisory Board for the University of Tennessee (Knoxville). He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables since 1964 and currently serves on the Board of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. In fact, he is a past chair of the Coral Gables Chamber and was the recipient of the Robert B. Knight Outstanding Citizen Award for 1995-96. He was the 1996-97 chair of the Coral Gables Community Foundation and continues to serve on its board. Ron Shuffield is married to Anita, an FSU graduate whose community service also is admirable. The couple have two grown daughters, Melissa (a UF Gator) and Allison (a FSU Seminole), both living in Washington, DC, and a son, Scott, attending the University of Maryland. Ron Shuffield’s personal magnetism and genuine kindness have touched the lives of countless individuals and organizations in our community.

Giardino’s Restaurant moves to new location near The Mile BY LINDA RODRIGUEZ BERNFELD

Almost from the day Giardino Gourmet Salads first opened in Coral Gables on Giralda near Douglas Road (37th Avenue), the restaurant was such a hit that lines formed and it was hard to find a table. “After five years, we outgrew the restaurant over there,â€? said owner Kenneth Lugo, who developed the salad restaurant concept with his wife, Odalys, also known as Ody. They opened in their new larger location at 2346 Ponce de Leon, near Houston’s on Nov. 16. Giardino’s was Odalys’ dream. When she and Kenneth married, she told him she wanted to open a business. He thought it would be a cake business, but she said she wanted to open a salad restaurant. “We were naĂŻve, her being a school teacher and me being a firefighter,â€? Kenneth Lugo said. They went forward with the restaurant while keeping their day jobs. Once the restaurant opened, Odalys quit teaching while he worked between his firefighting shifts. Lugo said that looking back it would have been easy to “Googleâ€? salad restaurants and come up with salads and dressings, but it didn’t occur to them to do that. Instead, Odalys created the salads and salad dressings. “She has a gift,â€? he said. The restaurant’s fresh and delicious food was an instant hit. “It’s the good food, the customer service and the personal touch that works.â€? They trained their employees in customer service and made it a point to remember the names of repeat customers. In fact, that was something so important to him that he would keep a “cheat sheetâ€? for customers that he knew but for some rea-

son couldn’t always remember their names. On the sheet he would have a description like bow ties and the name. As they were paying, he’d check his sheet so he could call the customer by name. Lugo said these days it’s even more important to have that personal connection in customer service because people are much more careful where they spend their money. Giardinos not only remember customers, but they treat their employees well, so they have very little turnover. “My employees have been here for years,� he said. “I couldn’t do it without them.� He also finds it important to talk to his customers on how the restaurant is doing and what it may need to do to keep them happy. “I encourage feedback,� he said. In fact, just before Christmas, his delivery people went on vacation so he took the opportunity to do the deliveries himself. “What a great chance to see my customers I haven’t seen for a long time.� Another secret to Giardino’s success is the quality ingredients they use. “The restaurants that are successful are the ones that stick to their guns,� he said. “The ones that don’t cut the quality of the food.� Giardino has a large menu with specific salads that are made fresh for each customer or a customer can customize his or her own salad. The menu also offers soups, desserts and garden wraps. Along with the Coral Gables location, Giardino’s has six franchised restaurants in Doral, Downtown Miami, Kendall, Miami Beach, South Miami and Miramar. St. Stephen’s Art Show to celebrate 22nd year BY MISCHELLA REED

Entering its 22nd year, the highly anticipated St. Stephen’s Art Show (SSAS) will be celebrating its three-day long festival from Saturday, Feb. 13, through Monday, Feb. 15. The show is presented by St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, a 100-year resident in Coconut Grove, which is celebrating its centennial in 2010. The show, known as one of South Florida’s most popular outdoor arts festivals, will take place on the grounds of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 2750 McFarlane Rd., in the heart of the Grove. The St. Stephen’s Art Show started out as a simple hot dog stand during the Coconut Grove Arts Festival and has grown into a nationally important industry event that stands alone. Ranked top in the country by Artist magazine and Sunshine Artist magazine, the St. Stephen’s Art Show is a not-for-profit event that helps raise funds for outreach programs in the Grove and Miami area. The show’s proceeds allow St. Stephens to offer a range of cultural, spiritual and entertainment activities to the community as part of its vision to be “The Heart of the Grove, and Reaching Beyond.” “The St. Stephen’s Art Show went from just a hot dog stand to a top ranked fine art show,

The highlighted centennial artists include one of Florida’s original “Highwaymen” painters and nationally renowned artist James Gibson who has presented at St. Stephens for more than 10 of the 22 years, and sculpture artist and 2009 SSAS award winner Estella Fransbergen. Farm Share, the organization known for bridging the gap between harvest and the hungry, has now grown into a “one-stop center” of social service. Aside from providing the basic need of food to more than 6,500 families a month at the organization’s Homestead distribution center, families can now sign up for free telephone service. Thanks to a new partnership with Safelink Wireless, Farm Share recipients can now apply to Lifeline, a U.S. government and State supported program which provides eligible low-income households with a free cell phone, mobile access to emergency services, and 68 minutes of free airtime each month for one year. “Farm Share is giving new meaning to the saying “waste not, want not”, said Yvette Rodriguez of Farm Share. “This new partnership with Safelink will help provide most of Farm Share’s recipients with a luxury that has become a common necessity.” To qualify for the program, families must receive any of the following government

assistance programs: Food Stamps, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), National School Lunch Program, Federal Public Housing Assistance (Section 8) and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF). They also may qualify if their household income is not more than 135 percent of the federal poverty guidelines and must provide proof of income qualifications. Tablet splitting has been a popular, costsaving practice because the prices of some drugs are similar for various tablet strengths. Some HMOs and insurance companies are utilizing tablet splitting as a costsaving strategy. However, tablet splitting can be problematic as splitting may affect the stability of a medication, or result in overdosing or under-dosing. Splitting should NOT be considered if the tablet is not scored or if it contains more than one active ingredient. Greater Miami Youth Symphony brings music to young people BY LEE STEPHENS

Founded in 1958 by Robert Strassburg, the Greater Miami Youth Symphony (GMYS) continues to delight and serve the Miami-Dade community through numerous outreach concerts and programs throughout the year. GMYS currently serves over 500 students during the year in four orchestra, band, and eight beginning instrument classes throughout the county. Each year, GMYS also hosts a comprehensive summer camp for more than 300 youth where students practice and hone their musical skills in a fun and exciting environment. GMYS orchestra and ensemble students began rehearsing together in midSeptember, but already have participated in several impressive and exciting performances. On Dec. 13, at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church in Palmetto Bay, all the GMYS orchestras and band performed in the GMYS Holiday Gala Concerts. Two concerts were presented. At 5:30 p.m., the GMYS Young Mozarts Orchestra, String Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, and Concert/Jazz Band per-

formed a variety of classical, holiday, and popular music including selections from Polar Express, Carlos Santana’s Evil Ways, Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, and Angels Bach has Heard on High by Owen Goldsmith. At 7 p.m., under the direction of GMYS music director Huifang Chen, the GMYS Symphony Orchestra performed classical, jazz, and holiday selections. Glenn Basham, University of Miami Frost School of Music violin professor performed Jazz Violin Concerto by Scott Routenberg with the symphony. The concert also included the last movement of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, as well as the first movement of Grieg’s String Quartet in g minor. GMYS chamber ensembles and orchestras also have performed at various community venues including Fairchild Gardens for the Ramble Festival, the Deering Estate, California Club Library, Metrozoo for the Holiday Nights with Wild Lights, and Jungle Island for The Children’s Trust Champions for Children banquet. Last month, on behalf of United Teachers of Dade and our educators and children, I said I could not sign on the dotted line in order to possibly receive federal grant money through the Florida Department of Education. The money involved seemed huge -- up to $700 million, if Florida were to receive the maximum amount from the feds. I see you shaking your heads, thinking, ‘The woman must be off her rocker. Always complaining about not enough money and she’s saying no when they’re flinging dollars her way like beads at Mardi Gras.’ To restore my reputation for sanity, let me explain. There are some things that any of us will not do. For most of us, the list is pretty similar. I’m pretty sure no one reading this would commit murder for money. Or kidnap someone for money. Or sell ___________ (you fill in this blank.) You just wouldn’t do it. You wouldn’t do it for one dollar or a million dollars. United Teachers of Dade took a look at the grant when the federal government first started talking about it. We were excited. Race to the Top funds would be given to states that developed innovative, collaborative local proposals crafted by school districts and their teachers’ unions. It seemed, well, too good to be true. States chosen to apply would compete for the funding; points would be awarded to a state applicant based on the degree to which they demonstrated innovative, locally-developed program proposals, with a high degree of collaboration among all education stakeholders. A state’s application, called a Memorandum of Understanding, in fact was to be signed by the local district superintendent, the chair of the local school board, and the president of the local teachers’ union. Eureka! We teachers, the people who stand in front of students day after day delivering instruction, were finally being asked for our ideas and input. We said “yes” immediately. We began to work with the District on ideas that would make a difference in the lives of students living right here in Miami-Dade. Some good proposals were under way.

And then the Florida Department of Education sent us its Memorandum of Understanding, wanting us to sign an agreement that contradicted the intent and scope of the Race to The Top. The Florida Department of Education’s (DOE) proposed “agreement” was a prescriptive, non-collaborative, bureaucratic nightmare mandate. The DOE in effect said, ‘In order for you, local district, to receive this grant money, you must first do everything we put in Exhibit One. (Twenty-two pages long, small type.) That includes evaluating every teacher every year based 50% or more on the test scores of their students. The district must use a state assessment (FCAT) to evaluate teacher effectiveness, but if no state assessment (FCAT) is available because of grade level or subject area, the district must create a test for that grade level or subject area.’ For Miami-Dade schools, that would mean creating 2,300 new tests for our students, more or less. Not for the good of the student. Not to improve the instructional practice of the teacher. Do you know how much money that would cost? I do. More than any dollar amount we would win in this grant competition. Not only would there be no money left for the innovative, collaboratively developed local proposals, receiving this grant would end up costing our district money. There was much more in the DOE’s mandate, and it was as wretchedly bad as the bit I just shared. What’s in it for the teachers of Miami-Dade, if we had agreed to sign? Nothing. What’s in it for the students of Miami-Dade, if we had agreed to sign? Less time spent on learning. A lot more time spent on testing, and worse. I want you to know I would have said yes if I could. I wanted to say yes. We all wanted something wonderful for our students and our teachers right here at home. Instead, I said no. Because there are some things one just can’t do, and sometimes a deal can be too good to be true. The United Teachers of Dade represents 38,000 teachers and school support personnel in MDCPS. Pipsqueak Puppet shows are back entertaining children BY LINDA RODRIGUEZ BERNFELD

Now that the holidays are over, parents are turning their attention to planning birthday parties for their children. For parents, it’s often hard to figure out how to entertain the children at the party. One option is to hire Ivan Kivitt and Dave Mason, owners of Pipsqueak Puppets, to put on a show specially tailored for the birthday child. “They were part of the Merry-Go-Round Playhouse which was the No. 1 children’s theater in South Florida for about 25 years,” Kivitt said. “We catered to birthday parties. We had hundreds and hundreds of birthday parties every year.” They closed the Coral Gables facility when both started working on cruise ships as cruise directors. “Then we brought the puppets to the cruise ships,” he said. “We got off the cruise ships about four months ago. We decided to reactivate the theater; except instead of having a theater, we will travel to any location.” Pipsqueak Puppets also were featured on the Skipper Chuck show for 19 years and in

shows at elementary schools, churches and synagogues. They were used in shows at the former Burdines department store, now Macy’s. “It’s an all live show,” he said. “We have wonderful characters from little kids to talking birds, to lions and tigers.” Kivitt is the master of ceremonies and Mason works the puppets and does the voices. “It’s a half hour to one hour show,” Kivitt said. “The birthday child will get prizes. It’s all self-contained, which makes it nice.” It hasn’t been long since Kivitt and Mason brought back Pipsqueak Puppets. “We just started. We had some shows in some of the schools starting in December,” he said. “We have hundreds of puppets to choose from. The shows are never the same.” The shows can be done at a private home, a hall, a church, a conference room, or a school. Kivitt said they can handle up to 30-40 children at a time. The production is interactive, with dialogue between the puppet and child. “It’s wonderful for kids because kids believe,” he said. “That’s magical. It’s amazing how popular the characters

They love it when they get in trouble” Kivitt said. “That’s universal with all kids.” One of the unique characteristics of the Pipsqueak Puppet shows is that they are not scripted. “It’s always new because the kids are different every week. We have to have all this material and all this fun. We talk it over and we outline it.” Kivitt will talk to the parents about the birthday child’s likes and dislikes. “And the parents will say, ‘Billy really likes so and so and so and so,’” he said. “Billy likes baseball or likes horses. We’ll build it around that theme…whatever the child likes.” The productions can run anywhere from a half hour to an hour, depending on the age of the children. “The younger kids like a half hour, the older kids 45 minutes to an hour show,” he said. Conservation Concert Series aids environmental education BY LEE STEPHENS

When Hurricane Wilma destroyed the Tropical Audubon Society’s (TAS) chickee hut in 2005, it put an end to the educational experiences once offered under the shelter. Now TAS is hoping to raise enough money — about $6,000 — to restore the chickee by hosting a “Conservation Concert Series,” which will take place on the property of the historic Doc Thomas House. The house, located on three acres of native landscaping at 5530 Sunset Dr., serves as TAS’s office. Miami-born Deblois Milledge (www.debloismusic.com) will perform at the first Conservation Concert on Jan. 26. Mixing folk music, bluegrass and jazz traditions, Deblois plays acoustic roots music and soulful original tunes, many about natural Florida.

Miami Children’s Chorus presents “Bring on the Boys,” a singing workshop for boys with unchanged voices, on Saturday, Jan. 30, 8:30 a.m., at the University of Miami Frost School of Music’s Victor E. Clarke Recital Hall. The workshop gives boys an opportunity to experience the positive benefits of singing in a chorus without making a long-term commitment to a choir. Timothy A. Sharp, who has been music director of Miami Children’s Chorus for 19 seasons, teaches the workshop. Boys learn the basics of vocal technique, reading music, and teamwork. At noon there is a free recital for family and friends. The University of Miami men’s

choir, “Frost Maelstrom,” also participates in the workshop and recital. The fee is $20 and it includes a T-shirt, music, and snacks. LET’S TALK CARS The Toyota 4Runner sport utility vehicle has been around since 1984 and it has been a hit with American consumers from the start because of its four-wheel-drive versatility, go-anywhere ability and the comfort and utility of a passenger car. After 25 years, four generations and more than 1.5 million sales, the all-new fifth-generation 4Runner is more rugged and athletic, and has more power and better fuel economy. The redesigned interior and unique cargo area make the latest 4Runner smarter, more comfortable and even more versatile. The design of the new 4Runner is more rugged than its predecessor, with large diameter wheels and tires to improve off-road performance and enhance the vehicle’s truckbased characteristics. Aluminum alloy wheels are 17-inches in diameter on SR5 and Trail grades and 20 inches on the Limited. The rugged new design utilizes a combination of Toyota’s classic boxy form and pro-

gressive styling. All 4Runner grades have rugged new bumpers and wider shoulders, with new headlight and taillight systems that yield better nighttime performance. The square front fender flares meld with a muscular profile that links with a beefy and square rear bumper and back door. The 4Runner combines the toughness and durability of body-on-frame construction with multi-use design. It’s taller, wider and longer for 2010 and is available in three models — Limited, SR5 and Trail. The Limited and SR5 grades add to the muscular design with special premium touches that include a chrome-plated front grille insert, fog lamp bezel and front bumper molding. Front and rear overfenders and side skirts are colorkeyed, while chrome plating is on the side molding, roof rack and rear bumper. The Trail grade is designed to maximize off-road performance with a high ground clearance and an array of functional upgrades. It may be distinguished with a unique hood scoop, unique 17-inch wheels, black outer mirrors, front and rear bumper guards, and a dark smoke treatment on the head and tail lights. Turn signals on SR5 and Limited V-6 grades are incorporated into the outside mirrors, along with puddle lamps. Drivetrain configurations include rear
