“We need a good Christmas this year.” This has become the rallying cry for Jonathan Richard Cring, author and columnist at <www.jonathots.com>, for a program he is offering during this festive holiday season on Friday, Dec. 23, 7 p.m., at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 11295 SW 57 Ave. “There should be one month of the year when politics and arguing stop and we allow the best parts of our childhood traditions to merge with the better parts of our faith to give us a joyful experience,” said Cring from his journeys on the road. Cring and his partner, master musician Janet Clazzy, recently completed a tour of 30 states, 175 cities, with 210 presentations across America. It was Janet who, back in July, suggested that the pair take the month of December and, rather than beachcombing in Florida, put together a program of humor, music, singing and enlightenment — with a Yuletide twist. “I will be reading from my book, Mr. Kringle’s Tales…26 Stories ’til Christmas, an advent-calendar of essays which mingle the best of my upbringing of Santa and Jingle Bells with the more heartfelt parts of my faith of Jesus and the angels,” she said. “I just happen to believe that if you put Jesus and Santa Claus in the same room, they’d get along a lot better than Congress does.” Clazzy is an award-winning musician — not only a master on the oboe but also an impresario on the WX-5 Wind Machine, which offers the audience the experience of 250 different instruments. “When Jonathan and I get together playing with his keyboard and my magical horn, it’s like you’ve got a whole orchestra

cooking up some great seasonal tunes — much to everybody’s glee.” Cring concludes, “We understand that people have a lot to do, getting ready for all the fun around the tree. But it wouldn’t hurt to take one hour to come out and give yourself a good one this year — because I surely believe we could use one.” A free-will donation will be collected to defray expenses, and Cring and Clazzy also will offer a reasonable package of Christmas treasures to be enjoyed by the audience — or given as gifts to friends.
