TerraBank Marks Quarter-Century; Order Lifted TerraBank Celebrates 25 Years
Antonio Uribe, Terrabank President/CEO –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Terrabank, N.A., a national bank headquartered in Miami, announced today that its regulator, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, has terminated a Cease and Desist Order which was put in place in May 2006. “Today’s announcement provides a clear indication of Terrabank’s significantly strengthened financial condition,” stated Antonio Uribe, Terrabank’s President and CEO. “It also reflects the dedication and commitment of its Board of Directors, shareholders, and that of the Bank’s
employees. Without their magnificent work this outcome would not have been possible. “I am also particularly grateful for the support and trust received from our clients during this period. We look forward to continuing to meet their financial needs for many years to come.” Lifting of the Consent Order came at a very significant moment, Uribe noted, as November 2010 marked the bank’s 25th anniversary of service to the South Florida community.

Machado Ford, Soccer 5 Announce Partnership
Hector Collado (left), General Manager, Gus Machado Ford, and Scott Georgeson, President, Soccer Five, mark partnership. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Soccer Five, one of Florida’s most up and coming soccer operations, and Gus Machado Ford, one of Florida’s premiere Ford dealerships, have announced an auto partnership and a soccer league bearing the Machado name. “This partnership gives us the platform to really develop our Play, Talk, and Shop – and now Drive soccer!” said Scott Georgeson, President for Soccer 5. “We look forward to providing great value to all Soccer Five members as we introduce Team Gus Machado Ford. Honk your horn when you see our Soccer Five Fords in your area soon!” “We got very excited when the Soccer Five leadership team spoke to us about further increasing our involvement both in soccer and the local community,” said Hector Collado, Gus Machado’s General Manager. “We will be introducing a series of initiatives, open days and a Gus Machado League to maximize on our exposure with the new partnership,” Collado added. “We’ll also feature the new Ford Fiesta on the live Soccer Five video and talk site.” Earlier this year, Soccer 5 USA entered in an agreement with Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation Department to design, build, and operate Soccer 5 facilities at the Kendall Soccer Complex. “Soccer Five’s ultimate goal is to
encourage the local and national interest in soccer in the U.S., bolstered by the admirable performance of the US team at the 2010 FIFA World Cup,” Georgeson noted. The Soccer Five premise is simple, he continued, commenting that lack of interest for the sport in America includes the length of the game too few points scored per match. Soccer Five matches resolve both issues by making the field proportionately smaller, resulting in a shorter, more dynamic game with a higher score average. Evolution of Soccer Five in the U.S. is to provide a game for all ages and skill levels, being played in every major U. S. city by World Cup 2014, to support future World Cup bids,” Georgeson added. Gus Machado Ford is one of South Florida’s most popular dealerships with locations in Kendall, Hialeah, and Miami featuring a full line of Ford cars and trucks, used vehicles, and full service and parts departments. For further information, visit Machado Ford at 15551 South Dixie Hwy., Palmetto Bay or on line at www.gusmachadoford.com, or by tel. 800-524-7363. ‘Dutch Treat’ Planned for Dade Bikers Staff from the Miami-Dade Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), met with members of the Dutch Consulate from the Kingdom of the Netherlands to discuss Miami-Dade County’s role in the upcoming 2011 multi-city initiative called “ThinkBike Workshops.” The workshops will bring together Dutch bike experts, local politicians, planners, advocates, engineers and business people to plan and discuss how North America cities can become more bikefriendly. The Netherlands is considered the bicycle country of the world as nearly 30% of trips, up to 5 miles in distance, are made by bike. A strong bicycle policy is integral to Dutch sustainability measures. There
are 1.1 bicycles per person in the Netherlands, and more than 60% of the Dutch prefer to bike when possible, resulting in less traffic jams, less pollution and a healthier population. During the planned workshops, which dates have yet to be determined, teams will survey the designated cities by bike and discuss how streets, intersections and whole neighborhoods can be improved for optimal bicycle use. Other topics will include bike safety, bike commuting, biking to school, bike parking, law enforcement, bikes and public transportation, etc.

Looking for Something Special for the Kids Stocking? Consider a Custodial Account I am looking for something special for my childrenʼs or grandchildrenʼs stocking. What do you suggest? If you can afford it, and you feel motivated to do so, I suggest that you put a check in their stocking to be used to open or add to a custodial account. Who controls the money in the custodial account? Custodial accounts are registered under the minor’s name and social security, but the custodian (you) controls the money until the minor is an adult. Is the custodial account more flexible than the Florida Prepaid College Plan or 529 plan? Yes, the Florida Prepaid College Plan and the 529 plan are for educational purposes only. The custodial account can be used for other purposes besides education. When should you start a custo-
dial account? The sooner the better. The cost of education will continue to rise. I suggest that you get into the “tradition” of making this a yearly item for the stocking. You should have a review of your financial condition prior to investing including a clear understanding of your investment criteria. Need a New Year’s Resolution? Consider Finding a Financial Advisor. I wantt to o startt shopping forr a financiall advisor.. What should d I bee looking g for? Someone you can trust and feel comfortable with. A person who has several years of experience in both good and bad times. A well educated person. Someone who really listens to both the husband and the wife. Someone who provides objective advise to you and who is legally and morally obligated to serve your best interest at all times. Someone who does not have a sales quota of investment products to sell to you. Someone who has malpractice insurance for your protection. Someone who is regulated and supervised by FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority). Someone who is not a sales rep but an actual money manager. How w manyy financiaal advisorss should dI interview? The more the better, but make sure you ask the same questions to each one. Ask for their credentials, experience, investment process, references and code of ethics. I suggest that you talk to each advisor one on one. Consider talking to at least 3 advisors before you decide.
Never Pay Another Expensive Repair Again
Theree aree a lott off credentialss thatt advisorss use.. Aree theyy alll th he same? No. Each credential has a different level of course content and time requirement to attain the credential. Some credentials focus on life insurance such as the Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) and a Charter Life Underwriter (CLU). The CLU is more of a Masters Degree in the area of insurance. Some credentials focus on mutual funds such as a Certified Funds Specialist (CFS). The credential that focuses on comprehensive financial planning is the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®). It is more of a Masters Degree in personal financial planning. Ask the advisor for details of their skills and education. Rick Tonkinson is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP™) who works with working people in your area since 1991.
