Trophy readied for The King Pins Around Town Challenge at Splitsville Lanes People and places are on the move

ot to be outdone by the Olympics and the Oscars, The King Pins Challenge has its own special trophy to be awarded this coming Sunday, March 21. Steve Kagan, owner of Beverlee Kagan Antique & Vintage Jewelry fabricated the King Pin crown, which is based on the event logo. The crown on a bowling pin was brought to Splitsville in advance of the event. The crown fabricator, Steve Kagan, presented the trophy to Margaret Sotham, Director of the South Miami Drug-Free Coalition, and event CoPresentors, John Edward Smith of SoMiMAG and Dwyane McQuillen of Splitsville Luxury Lanes. Martial Arts champions visit Gracie Barra of Miami

racie Barra Jiu Jitsu Miami, the premier school for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Capoeira in Miami, was visited by two of the world’s foremost martial arts champions in the past month. Georges St-Pierre, the UFC Welterweight Champion, and Gerard Mousassi, Strikeforce Lightheavyweight Champion, visited Gracie Barra students and trained for a day with the school’s owner and head instructor, Daniel “Montanha” de Lima.

Georges St-Pierre is scheduled to fight unbeaten English fighter Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy at UFC 111 when the Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on March 27th. “When they were in Miami, out of all the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools they chose mine to come learn a few things, and believe me they did,” said de Lima. “This was huge for us, and a real blessing to have those champions come to the school. On t he mov e: We hear that Origin, the restaurant right next to Deli Lane, is moving around the corner to the old Poblano restaurant at 5850 Sunset Drive. We peeked through the paper covered windows to see what the new restaurant will look like, but to no avail. As it turns out, you won’t have to wait too long to visit them at their new location, as they are set to open in mid-April. I h e a r t h a t Vice Mayor Va leri e Newman’s woes are far from over as the rumor around town is that the Miami Dade Ethics Commission is going to file charges against her involving the conflict of interest surrounding the firing of former city manager Ajibola Balogun. dropped regarding the exact same thing, but—yup, there is quite a big but with this one—but now there is going to be a subpoena and evidence. Hmmm... A n d b y t h e w a y... is $500,000 the magic number that will help make former city manager A ji bol a Ba logun happy enough to forsake his current lawsuit against the city, surrounding the termination of his gig as city manager in October 2009. The former manager had a long time to go on his contract when he was suddenly, but not unexpectedly, trashed about and fired without any stated cause. This yet to be verified figure is supposedly the number that is being bounced around in those very private meetings between the attorneys. I’ve also heard that as part of the $500,000 he was entitled to some $135,000 for all the years he put in with the city, some in the Public Works department, then as assistant city manager and then as manager with the City of Pleasant Living. So, let’s do some math right now, $500,000 minus $135,000 leaves some $365,000 or so for the early termination of

his contract. Can’t wait to hear the final figure on how this commission cost the taxpayers a bunch of bucks. P.S. Ajibola’s predecessor, Yvo nne Soler-McKinley, got over $100,000 for the early termination of her contract and if the city would have waited just a couple of months till her contract ended she would have walked away with her pride. But leave it to the city and she ran as fast as she could with her six figure early termination fee and a big “Thank You” to the City Of Pleasant Living. I u n d e r s t a n d the civic activist, S h a ron M c Ca i n, is now upset with the new city manager Roger Carlton for a bunch of reasons and she is very, very vocal about it. But the manger shouldn’t take it personally as it’s just the way it is in the City Of Pleasant Living. On the move... Cesar Garcia was recently relieved of his job with the city of South Miami, where he served as the Parks and Recreation Director. And son of a gun, Marie Stout Tate is being considered as his replacement. Sorry to see him go, but that’s the way it works, and now I

wonder just how much longer the police chief, Robert “Bobby” Richardson will be with the city. Once the deed is done, this new commission and new administration will be able to bring in their own people, who will be in step with the new power at city hall. I h e a r t h a t Doral Mayor J u a n C a r l o s Be r m ud e z will be running for mayor of Miami-Dade County come 2012, and right around the corner we expect to hear former Pinecrest Councilman Les lie Bowe declare his candidacy for the Miami-Dade County Commission seat for District 8. Tw o form er employees were at the Community Center, jeering and taunting the departing Director of the Parks and Recreation Department. Our sources tell us that it was so outrageous the police were called in, just in case. Golly, I wonder if those two taunters were fired by Cesar and they were just welcoming him to the ranks of the unemployed. And speaking of moving, the State of Florida has been looking around town to lease an office building and they happen to like the 62nd Avenue corridors where there is plenty of space for offices and parking. Hmmm...is it for the Department of Corrections? I s t h e s w i m m i n g p o o l at the

Community Center going to happen anytime soon? Well, that’s what the sentiment is after a meeting at the community center, attended by 50 people. The commission, sans Vice Mayor Newman, were in attendance as well as was the city manager and they were listening away, and I hear that within two years there will be a pool over yonder. And by the way, a few years ago one of the commissioners said “Just give those folks over there a shovel and a hose.” My, it looks like they’ve come a long way in such a short time... A n d t h e n I h e a r that County Commissioner Carlos Giminez is so upset with the city of South Miami and its CRA that he told the city to give him an accounting of all the county money and grants, etc., that the city/CRA received and how it was spent and that if it hasn’t been spent by October or so that the city/CRA will have to return the money. New mindfulness meditation ‘Walk Now for Autism’ a success studio opens in South Miami BY LEE STEPHENS

Based upon the guiding principle that by increasing awareness, individuals can become more connected to their daily lives, mindfultime, a new mindfulness meditation studio, has opened in South Miami. Mindfulness meditation teaches the participant to live in – and be aware of – the present moment by focusing concentration on many aspects of an individual’s experience. Meditation at mindfultime uses a secular approach, as opposed to a religion-based approach, thereby opening the opportunity for participation of people from all faiths.

She began practicing mindfulness meditation in 2003 as a way to reduce stress and help her balance work and family life. Lash has obtained training in teaching mindfulness meditation through the Residential Training Retreat for Professionals, taught by Drs. On February 21, Homestead Mayor Steve Bateman and his family joined community members and members of HYP (Homestead Young Professionals) at the annual Walk Now for Autism Speaks fundraiser. Twenty people walked for Team Austin, named in honor of Bateman’s 14 year old autistic son. Jointly, the team raised more than $1,700, which contributed to the nearly half a million raised in total for Miami Dade County. The

5k walk took place at Crandon Park on Key Biscayne and was attended by approximately 10,000 walkers. Every 20 minutes, another family receives the devastating news that their child has autism. Funds raised go towards research, awareness, support and programs. The group is excited to participate again next year with increased support from the Homestead Community and business leaders.

Busy chef takes time to teach young women art of cooking BY MEGHAN RUSSELL

Sarah Davidoff, chef/owner of Fare to Remember Creative Catering of Coral Gables, one of the largest catering companies in South Florida, is no stranger to charitable events and giving back to the community. In addition to her active role at February’s South Beach Food & Wine Festival, Davidoff found the time to hold a series of free cooking classes in February for women ages 18-23 who have exited from state’s foster care system. The young women who attended the classes are being supported by Casa Valentina, a Miami nonprofit organization that provides educational and life training services for foster care teens and adults. Make healthy and appetizing food, make it quickly and make it within a budget were the goals of the cooking classes. “For the first time, these young people will be living on their own and taking care of themselves,” said Sharon Katz, program director at Casa Valentina. “Being able to cook, and cook correctly, is an important part of their new lives they’ll be building.” According to Our Kids of Miami-

the skills they need to be independent and lead productive lives in society as adults. “There are three reasons why you should know how to cook,” Davidoff said as she started the classes. “If you’re invited to a potluck dinner, you need your own ‘signature’ dish you can bring. Two, if you cook the right way and cook ahead of time, you’ll save time and money, and number three, you have to know how to cook when you invite someone over on a date.” When one teen asked what the essential seasonings everyone must have in the cupboard, Chef Davidoff enthusiastically answered, “You must have salt, pepper, garlic, oregano, basil and some type of chili seasoning.” Chef Davidoff’s menu featured Burritos, Turkey Loaf (that could also be made into meatballs) and a Baked French Toast that could be a breakfast or a dessert. All were her personal recipes and centered around three main themes — easy, inexpensive and tasty. In addition to Davidoff donating her time, Whole Foods in Coral Gables graciously donated all of the food and ingredients as well as the use of its kitchen and Lifestyle Center at 670l Red Rd.

Doctors Hospital employees on a recent weekend were able to give a fellow employee, Norma Padilla, one of the greatest gifts that can be given — home ownership. During the course of two weeks, some 160 Doctors Hospital employees came out to help Padilla build her home during Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami’s 12th Annual “Blitz Build.” The dream became a reality when Padilla received the keys to her new home during a house dedication ceremony in Homestead, which was sponsored by her employer, Baptist Health South Florida. This was the 19th home built by Baptist Health South Florida for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami. Nine other new homeowners were presented their keys during the home dedication ceremony. “Every year we are involved with various community events as an organization and this one in particular hits very close to home,” said Nelson Lazo, CEO of Doctors Hospital. “Our direct connection with Ms. Padilla, as a fellow employee, made seeing her, as she opened her house for the first

Driver’s license renewals fuel effort to fight heart disease BY LINDA RODRIGUEZ BERNFELD

The Florida Heart Research Institute has partnered with the State of Florida to raise awareness of heart disease and collect money for heart research at the same time. In March, the campaign for Make Florida the State of the Heart, kicks off at all driver’s license bureaus. Floridians will be able to donate to heart research and awareness when they first get their licenses or go to renew their licenses. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer in Florida and the United States. In Florida alone, heart disease is expected to kill 50,000 deaths people. Hospitalization costs for Floridians with heart problems could top $18.6 billion annually. So representatives from the Florida Heart Research Institute went to the state and asked to participate in the programs that can collect donations through the license bureaus, either at the offices or online. Legislation was passed last spring and in October the program became official. Staci Ehrenkrantz, spokesperson for the State of the Heart campaign, said anyone getting or renewing a license may donate to the program. However, the state is featuring the State of the Heart program in March. “All the bureaus will have banners, posters, tent cards. All the employees will have buttons and some employees will be wearing T-shirts,” she said, adding that this will happen all over the state. “Working with the driver’s license bureau has been wonderful. They are very encouraged with this particular campaign because heart disease is the number one killer.” The campaigns conducted with the bureau’s can be quite lucrative. “When they do these campaigns, they get anywhere from $100,000 to $500,000 in that month,” she said, adding that the additional funds will enable the institute to do more prevention programming and more education. Not only will there be promotional materials visible, the examiners also will ask everyone if they would like to donate

The institute also receives funds from the Stop Heart Disease license plates. The voluntary contribution at the driver’s license bureaus compliments the license plate program. “This gives them another opportunity to donate to the cause,” she said. For those who can’t afford the “Stop Heart Disease” license plate, the month long campaign gives them a chance to donate. The Institute has received almost $1.5 million from the license plate program but Ehrenkrantz said more funding is needed. “We strive to promote it and generate more funds so we can do more programming,” she said. “It goes for some research and education and prevention programs. We’re able to go out and do cardiovascular programming for underserved.” They go to the areas of the county where people don’t have as much access to healthcare and they conduct health fairs, doing things such as checking cholesterol and teaching people about heart disease. “We do some counseling. We talk to them about how to make some improvements,” she said. If there is a problem, the Institute workers can refer them to a doctor or a federally funded clinic. Wicho’s on the Green (WOTG) Golf Tournament hosted its sixth annual event this Melreese Golf Course in Miami, to benefit the UM-NSU CARD, The Autism Society Miami Chapter, and Carpe Diem Academy. Founded by Luis “Wicho” Hernandez, from LINQ Financial Group in Coral Gables, WOTG has become a staple event in the community to benefit local charities. “The event was an overwhelming success,” Wicho said. “We at LINQ Financial, along with presenting sponsors Advanced Construction & FELC Tutors, were proud to host the WOTG Golf Tournament. South Florida soon will host the first annual “Unforgettable Prom” for children with cancer. The event will take place on Friday, Apr. 30, at one of the finest luxury resorts on Fort Lauderdale Beach — The Ritz Carlton. The Friends of Scott Foundation, an organization committed to helping families receive the support they need to cope with this devastating disease, will sponsor the event. When Palmetto Senior High sophomores Angie Isalgue and Kristen Chao heard about this event, they knew they had to get involved. Immediately through Facebook, emails, texting and phone calls to many people, Angie and Kristen started collecting prom dresses to donate for the cancer patients. Within two weeks, Angie and Kristen had collected more than 100 dresses, shoes, and purses. They have been amazed at the amount of support they have received from their friends. “At first we thought it would be great if we could collect 50 dresses which would be 25 from each of us,” Angie said. “Soon, our living rooms were overflowing with dresses and even though we still have people donating dresses, at our last count, we had over 100 dresses. “We really want to thank everyone for their generosity. Without everyone’s help, we couldn’t have done it. We are so honored and blessed to be the ones delivering these dresses to the Unforgettable Prom Committee.” Both girls have known people who have suffered from cancer and they felt honored to be able to give these girls a special night to escape from the ongoing treatments,

medications, daily situations that one must deal with when they are diagnosed with cancer. They can’t wait to see how stunning and beautiful these girls will look because of the numerous dresses that were donated. They will have a multitude of choices to find that perfect dress and have a perfect evening because of this Unforgettable Prom. Angie and Kristen plan on putting all of their other activities aside on Apr. 30 and hope to attend the event, just as an outsider looking in at all the beautiful smiles on these girls’ faces. “Their joy will be our joy,” Kristen said. The Friends of Scott Foundation are anticipating hundreds of children ages 12 to 19 will attend and are offering this event at no cost to the children or their families. With the help of sponsors, donations, and volunteers, they plan to provide everything necessary to help make this prom unlike any other. Everything from tuxedoes for the boys, dresses and hair and make-up for the girls, door-to-door limousine transportation, a red carpet entrance, prom photos, food, music and much more will all be provided for these courageous teens. They also anticipate the involvement of several local athletes and celebrities who will add to the excitement of the evening. Unfortunately most of these kids can’t and won’t attend a traditional school prom because of their disease. But come Apr. 30, they will be treated like movie stars and will be given a night to remember, while forgetting about their illnesses. They may come in wheelchairs and wear wigs, but it is guaranteed they all be wearing huge smiles as they arrive in limousines to walk the red carpet. It will truly be an “unforgettable” event.

The South Florida Palm Society will host the 2010 Spring Palm Sale, featuring “The World’s Largest Sale of rare and exotic palms,” on Mar. 20 and 21, at Montgomery Botanical Center (MBC), 12205 Old Cutler Rd. (Entrance is located just south of the intersection of SW 57th Avenue and Old Cutler Road.) Montgomery Botanical Center is home to a world-class research center and collection of palms and cycads on 125 acres of beautiful grounds that are a well-kept secret in Coral Gables. There will be squids for kids at Deering Seafood Festival BY SHEILA STIEGLITZ

The Deering Seafood Festival on the Bay has become one of the community’s most anticipated annual events, not only for offering Florida’s freshest fish and seafood, but also because each year the Deering Estate at Cutler creates something unique that debuts at the event. The valet bike service initiated a few years ago continues to encourage festival goers to go green and cycle to the historic estate, and last year the introduction of the Marine Mobile on Wheels allows children a hands-on opportunity to learn about the local ecosystem, food chain, environment and habitat of the specimens. For this year’s festival on Sunday, Mar. 28, Deering Estate marine biologists braved the myths about the deep dark waters of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea fame, and are presenting the legendary sea creature — the squid. Found in waters all over the world, these cephalopods (animals with heads and feet) are not on the list of endangered species. Under the guidance of the educational and interpretative specialists at the Deering Estate at Cutler, boys and girls who are age 8 and older, have the opportunity to join the Squid Squad to dissect a squid and learn about all its different parts. Yoelly Burgos, staff member and trained marine biologist, explained that the squid produces ink that it cleverly uses for defense against predators. “Kids love this type of activity,” she said. “Through the dissection the kids will find the ink sac and then using a ‘pen’ — a part of the squid’s anatomy that acts like a back bone — they can write with the squid’s ink.” A few weeks ago, in preparation for the event, some of the Deering Estate Foundation board members courageously volunteered to try their hand at dissection.

Palmetto Bay Academy educates students in an alternative fashion

BY ASRA JAWAID Palmetto Bay Academy (PBA), a private, tuition-based school located just south of The Falls, educates students in grades 8 through 12, from the remedial level all the way to Advanced Placement (AP). What sets PBA apart from other local high schools is that it specializes in students who are above average, even gifted, yet who are not thriving in a traditional school setting. Examples of issues which may have hampered these students’ progress at a traditional school are ADD/ADHD, depression, test/school anxiety, and being in drug or alcohol rehab. Others suffer from dysgraphia (poor handwriting skills) or are considered “gifted LD,” meaning they have a general IQ of 130 or 140, yet are disabled in one particular subject. The PBA school year technically begins in late August and ends in June, but students can enroll year-round, said Lois Dimos, the school’s director. Dimos, who has been in the educational field for more than 30 years and received her master’s degree in education from Stanford University, was inspired to open Palmetto Bay Academy after working as an administrator at a local private school. There she noticed that, although they were smart, certain students weren’t thriving like the others. She noticed that, “the homework was overwhelming [for them], that they couldn’t keep up with the course load, [and] socially they couldn’t fit in.” In response, Lois initially opened a home school for four high school students. Five months later she transformed it into today’s more-polished Palmetto Bay Academy. On paper, the differences between Palmetto Bay Academy and a traditional

school may seem scant, but observing the students at PBA reveals distinct differences in methods of instruction. Rather than being lectured as part of a large class, students almost always are taught one-on-one. They receive guidance, prompting and cheerleading from their teachers, but the students themselves decide what they want to do. “Everything is customized for each student,” said James Dimos, Lois’ husband and the school’s business manager. At the beginning of the school year, students come up with a large group of general goals, as well as shorter-term goals at the beginning of each week, Lois said. Every Friday, they receive progress reports that assess which of the week’s goals have been achieved. The accommodations PBA students receive are abundant: only seven students per classroom; individual tutoring; little or no homework; self-paced instruction, and advice on study skills and organizational strategies. Students have periodic projects and openbook exams, but the exams aren’t timed, and if a student fails, he’ll receive more intensive instruction and an alternative exam. PBA is not a therapeutic school, Lois points out. Seventy five percent of graduates are accepted into four-year universities such as the University of Miami, Emory University, FSU, UCF, FIU, FAU and Barry University. Another 20 percent attend twoyear colleges. The current enrollment at PBA is 15. James serves as a substitute teacher on the rare occasion when one of the four official faculty members is absent. LET’S TALK CARS The Mazda CX-9 is the Japanese automaker’s flagship crossover SUV and the 2010 model marks its fourth year of production. For the 2010 model year, the CX-9 gets a significant exterior and interior facelift, more options and reinforced safety features. The CX-9 retains its flowing silhouette, prominent wheels and tires, muscular fenders and steeply angled windshield, as well as the sculpted five-point grille and wide bumper. The side windows form an open greenhouse and allow good vision from all three rows of seating positions. Unique trapezoid, dual chrome exhaust pipes accentuate the design. Other enhancements include: • A bolder grille, front combination headlights and fog lights. • Larger, more aerodynamic side mirrors. • Combination taillights that mimic the headlights, while incorporating a new red

lens at the bottom. • A new Dolphin Gray exterior color. The CX-9 is powered by a short-stroke, state-of-the-art 273 hp 3.7-liter V-6 engine with such advanced features as a die-cast aluminum block with cast-in iron cylinder liners and aluminum cylinder heads for minimal weight. The valvetrain includes chain-driven dual overhead camshafts for minimal maintenance, four valves-percylinder with direct acting bucket-type actuators, and variable intake valve timing. The CX-9 rides on a 113.2-inch wheelbase, one of the longest in the segment, which allows for easy access to the threerow seating. There’s plenty of room for adults in every seating position. The driver’s seat and steering column move easily over a long range of adjustment and the 6040 split second row easily seats three, has five inches of fore-and-aft slide travel and a reclining backrest. The third row splits 5050 and the legroom is among the best we’ve seen. Entry to the third row is a breeze, with 26 inches of access space between the folded second-row seat and the C-pillar. And even with the third row occupied, the CX-9 has 17.2 cubic feet of cargo space. Both second and third row seats fold flat for additional

storage space all the way up to the back of the front seats. On the inside, there’s a neatly organized combination of cylindrical shapes and blacked-out instruments on a T-shaped instrument panel. Brightly edged gauges and indirect blue illumination set a cool mood, while indirect lighting is embedded in the ceiling. Horizontal elements in areas such as the center panel, door trim and seat design intersect with vertical accents to create the same harmony present in fine furniture.

Avron Smolensky will perform a piano recital on Sunday, Mar. 28, 4 p.m., at Bet Shira Congregation, 7500 SW 120 St. in Pinecrest. The program will consist of the Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach. There will be no charge for admission to this performance. Originally from Memphis, TN, where he spent his first 18 years, Smolensky decided upon his commitment to music as his future when he began studying piano at Southwestern (now Rhodes) University in Memphis. Smolensky also was introduced to the world of music theory — the mechanics of music — at that time. He received his Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 1968. At UC CCM, Smolensky studied, in addition to piano performance, music theory, history, and literature extensively. He was awarded a government grant to study music and German on a work-study program in Hamburg, Germany, during the summer of 1967. He also became a member of Phi Mu Alpha, the national music fraternity, and Delta Phi Alpha, the

national German Honor Society. Smolensky received his Master of Music Degree from the University of Miami in 1970. During this time, he earned distinction as a graduate assistant, meaning that he was assigned by the university to train undergraduates to meet its piano proficiency requirement. After Smolensky received his master’s degree, he taught for 28 years at Miami Park and Howard Drive elementary schools, both in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system. He retired from public school teaching in June 2008. His greatest pleasure in his retirement is his return to his piano practicing, because his commitment to teaching in the public school system did not allow ample time for the quality and quantity of practice to which Mr. Smolensky wished to indulge. Smolensky has performed publicly piano works of Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin and Schumann. Immediately following the recital, a spaghetti dinner will be available to any wishing to remain at $15 per adult, and $10 for those age 12 and younger. Too much Acetaminophen can lead to liver failure BY SONIA MARTINEZ, RPH Acetaminophen (the active ingredient in Tylenol™) is one of the most common medications found in households. It is used for the treatment of pain and to lower fever. Over many years, it has been used countless times by many people and it has proven to be a safe and effective medication. Acetaminophen overdose is one of the most common poisonings worldwide. People often think that acetaminophen is extremely safe. However, it may be deadly if taken in large doses. Acetaminophen has a narrow therapeutic index, which means that the dose that can cause toxicity is not much higher than the therapeutic, or recommended, dose. For example, just 6 grams of acetaminophen (only 12 Extra Strength Tylenol™) per day for 2 days can cause liver toxicity or even liver failure in some patients. Many over-the counter (OTC) and prescription cough and cold products and pain relievers contain acetaminophen. Patients can easily take too much acetaminophen when using various products simultaneously to treat different illnesses. In fact, half of acute liver failures caused by acetaminophen are due to unintentional overdoses. It is important to read labels on OTC products to see how much acetaminophen is in each dose, and to be aware that the abbreviation “APAP” is sometimes used to

An attorney from another field of law recently said to me, “I could never practice criminal defense law. I couldn’t sleep at night.” The comment reflects a sentiment commonly held amongst those outside my chosen profession. “How can you stand to deal with those people?” is a question I hear more often. Here’s how. It is not just members of the criminal underground who are charged with crimes. More frequently, it is someone who made a bad judgment call and drank more than he should have; or someone who let her temper get the best of her while going through a divorce; or someone who brought a pocket knife to school. A recent example is a client charged with the sale of fake drugs. This is not unusual, and often involves teens and naïve young adults. They typically concoct a scheme to “earn” money by selling some legal substance such as oregano or baking powder as an “ille-

gal” substance. They figure that there’s no harm in it. Problems arise when the hapless victim is actually a police officer and the “drug dealers” are arrested. People find it difficult to believe that they can be arrested for selling legal substances, but they certainly can. The crime is called “sale of a substance in lieu of a controlled substance,” and, for some substances, it is a third degree felony, punishable by up to five years in prison. Most of us would not want a person in this situation to have his future ruined for such a colossally stupid mistake. It is gratifying to be able to help such a client navigate the justice system in order to obtain a fair outcome, which won’t cloud his future. Obviously, not every client fits this profile. There are people who consistently live outside the law. For their cases, the gratification is of a different type, and that article is for another day. So, how can I practice criminal defense law?
