Matter of legal fees in lawsuit brings an unexpected response BY GARY ALAN RUSE clash of wills erupted at the city commission meeting held last week on Tuesday August 4th when an issue regarding legal fees and who would pay them was brought before the commissioners. In the matter of the lawsuit filed by City Manager W. Ajibola Balogun against Commissioner Valerie Newman, a request was made asking the City of South Miami and by extension its taxpaying residents to cover the legal expenses of Commissioner Newman, with no limit set as to how much of her lawyer’s fees the city would pay. The lack of a maximum limit brought a concerned response from City Mayor Horace Feliu. “I stated that it would be irresponsible to authorize a ‘blank check’ payment like that, since there would be no incentive for her attorney to wrap things up in a reasonable way,” Mayor Feliu told The South Miami News last week. “So I voted against it.” When it came to a vote, Commissioner Newman had to recuse herself from the

Stopped in over at Splitsville with my wife, Susan, and friends Michael and Claire Raley. We didn’t want to bowl, but we did want to have dinner and a couple of drinks. We sat in a wonderful place off to the right of the main door. Just far enough away from the music so you could hear yourself think, yet the music was still there and from our vantage point we could still watch people bowl. Our food server was bright, attentive and got the orders right without writing it down. Overall a great time, good food and a wonderful positive atmosphere. This one was really fun! Some folks made some comments at the end of my on-line column and it warrants sharing them with whoever wants a good chuckle. The initial comments came from an unsigned writer and I’d love you to take a few minutes and amuse yourself by reading it. So, folks, here are the first couple of paragraphs; but if you know my sense of humor you’ll appreciate my sharing this with you. Just go ahead and come back with an empty bladder. July 21, “Does anyone know what Michael Miller’s exact LD is? I’m so tired
Page 3
of this brainless and weak dribble that he writes week after week after week?” “LD. Learning Disability. The term Learning Disability ‘describes a neurological disorder in which a brain works or is structured differently...’ A learning disability can not be cured or fixed….” The anonymous writer continued on for a few more paragraphs that was just so much information that I knew that I was reading something written by a great communicator that was so far superior to anything that us mere mortals could even comprehend. The fun continued when someone responded with “It’s called Freedom of the Press…they think they now own the city because they have 3 monkeys on the commission...” But wait, there’s more: “Keep writing that column, Mr. Miller, at least your ‘brainless’ articles are truthful and on point.” And there’s more drivel: “Community News is a crucial resource in keeping the light shining light on this town…” Then there were lots of other comments about the Mayor, the nut jobs, and Jacko Wacko’s and some other things that were totally brainless and useless, but awfully entertaining gibberish that helps me chuckle a bit.
So, if you want some relief and want to pontificate a little bit, log on to <communitynewspapers.com>, look for my mug and hunt and peck away. You just might feel a bit better about your place in the universe. And speaking of a place in the universe. City commissioners voted the other night and decided NOT TO to pay for Commissioner Newman legal bills in the lawsuit that the city manger filed against her. This will probably even the playing field, as the city manager is paying HIS OWN bills too. Anyone want to guess how much those legal bills just might be when all the tussle and hassle gets done? If I remember correctly, the Miami Herald reported that her attorney wanted $250 per hour. Golly, that’s whole bunch of money. Maybe some of her friends will hold a legal defense fund party to help her out. PS. Betcha Rene Guim and Velma Palmer both of whom just spent a bunch of bucks on legal fees, have some tips on how to keep her legal bills low. If this is accurate, the City of Pleasant Living has reached a new low. So, here's the story: At last week’s commission meeting, our esteemed leaders ––––––––––––––––– See

The party, held July 28, served to introduce JOBC members to the Doral City Commission and many business leaders as well as recruit new volunteers and sponsors from the Greater Miami area. Among the VIPs attending were Doral Mayor JC Bermudez with Vice Mayor Michael DiPietro; Doral Commissioners Pete Cabrera and Sandra Ruiz; Mayor Don Slesnick, of Coral Gables, and Mayor Billy Bain, of Miami Springs. Almost 100 people gathered to enjoy a night of networking with JOBC members. JOBC President Marti Bueso introduced the dignitaries and thanked The Blue’s General Manager Steven van Hemert, Executive Chef Josh Wahler and Food and Beverage Manager, George Rodriguez, for their generous support. Among the almost 100 community leaders attending the event were Chuck and Nancy Little, Jim Borgmann, John and Pam Admire, Joey Deyerle, Paula Franco, John Sorgie, Ann Goodrich, Rich Lopez, Gus Machado, Jr., Kathleen Kauffman, Nubielena Medina, Enid Miguez, Don and Ceci Slesnick, Dr. Randy Groh, David Bobbitt, Carol Bovee, Dallas Brown, John Burns, Robin Preston, and Mark Pidal, to mention a few.

On July 18, The Children’s Bereavement Center (CBC) held a Harry Potter Movie Event at AMC Sunset Place as a dedicated fundraiser that featured giveaways, goodies, and appearances by costumed Harry Potter “characters” prior to the private screening. A partner event was also held in Aspen for CBC supporters who spend their summer away. Children from the Buddy Program in Aspen were invited as guests to that private screening. Proceeds from these events help CBC provide services. It is South Florida’s only nonprofit bereavement and resource center helping children and their families after loss. It provides free support groups for over 350 family members monthly. Established in 1999, the CBC is entering its 11th year of serving the children/families in our community. The weekend of August 1, several South Floridians traveled to Boston to participate in the Pan Massachusetts Challenge, a 200 mile bike ride to benefit “The Jimmy Fund” at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. More than 5,000 people accepted the challenge to raise $4,200 each and complete this journey with the common goal of helping the millions of people affected by cancer each year. Now in its 30th year, the Pan Massachusetts Challenge has raised over $239 million dollars for cancer research and care. 100 percent of the

MIA Casino? County racing to generate revenues R. Kenneth Bluh KENNETH’S COMMENTARY “Ladies and gentlemen, the horses for the third race at Gulfstream, excuse me, I mean at MIA Park. (Miami International Airport Racing Park). While waiting for the start of the race (or your flight) try your hand at the slot machines or the blackjack tables.” “Get your name in for the once-a-day drawing to win a free roundtrip ticket for two on American Airlines. Travel time restricted to days the county commission is in session.” “Employees, please take a bus to work as your employee parking lot has been temporarily converted into a horse racetrack.” Come on county commissioners. You are making a mistake. If attendance is limited to 1,000 spectators at the track due to current zoning laws, why race horses? Try dogs, they take up less
space, and the event will cost taxpayers less. You can still install slot machines, which will generate income to help cover the cost of running the county. Hey, you might even generate enough money to cover the shortfall at the performing arts center. That’s after you cover the shortfall at the airport. Airport employees had better get up super early to catch a bus inasmuch as the county, due to budgetary restrictions, will be eliminating some bus routes and making fewer trips on the remaining runs. Now to the story behind the story: County administrators (don’t blame our county commission) came up with the idea of installing slot machines at Miami International Airport. With all the flight delays it might give the restless flyers something to do while they wait for their flight. Please note: Local citizens, those not flying but looking for a little action, wouldn’t be permitted go to the airport to play the slots. The county would restrict gambling to those travelers who already have checked in for their flights.

––– VIEWPOINT ––– County administrators recognize that the airport at Las Vegas has slots, so why not Miami. In case you missed the point, the reason behind the slots at the airport is not to entertain the traveler — it is to generate dollars. The county needs every dollar it can lay its hands on due to the precipitous drop in real estate tax revenues. However, there is a problem. You can’t just have slots, or other games of chance, unless it is associated with another form of gambling, such as horse racing. Our legislators in Tallahassee passed enabling legislation in an effort to get racing back at Hialeah. Hialeah could never make it back only as a horse track so gambling on slots and table games would be needed. This same legislation could apply to Miami International Airport. The only problem is that MIA, like most other airports in the world, was not designed for horse racing. But, with
our fine county administration at work: a few adjustments, build a small 1,000 seat stadium, clear out a few parking spaces at the employee parking lot east of the airport and by magic, you have a racetrack. Now, our county administrators must make a deal with one of our local racetracks to manage the MIA racetrack. After all, our county administrators have their hands too full gambling with our tax dollars, budget shortfalls and constant problems with federal government intrusion into various county departments, to find time to run a racetrack.

voting since the matter directly involved her. According to budget regulations regarding such spending, a 4/5ths vote was required to pass the resolution. With Newman not voting and Mayor Feliu voting “nay” there were only three out of five “aye” votes—not enough to pass— and the effort failed. The city manager is reportedly cover-
ing his own legal expenses in the lawsuit and is not asking for help from the city. Marring the decorum of the evening, a close supporter of Valerie Newman reportedly decided to express his disapproval of Mayor Feliu’s deciding vote by spitting on the mayor’s photo on the wall in City Hall. Mayor Feliu stated shortly before this issue’s deadline time that he was on his way to a meeting with the City Attorney and the Chief of Police to discuss what, if any, action would be taken against the offending party.

Workshop helps nonprofits seeking ‘stimulus’ funding BY VANESSA PUIG Miami Southridge Senior High School’s auditorium was filled — not with students, but with representatives from local nonprofits eager to learn more about how to access federal stimulus supported services and programs for their organizations and clients. One hundred seventeen nonprofit leaders attended Miami-Dade Commission chair Dennis C. Moss’ presentation on President Obama’s Recovery Act and the impact to nonprofit services and clients in Miami-Dade. Moss hosted the presentation in an effort to assist nonprofits who are struggling to find information. “As someone who works in the nonprofit industry, I know that it is harder than ever for social service organizations to find dollars to maintain their programming,” said Moss, who also is executive director of the Richmond Perrine Optimist Club. “With an economic recession and the county’s budget shortfall, many nonprofits are in a financial crisis. However, thanks to President Obama’s stimulus package, the county and other agencies

have the opportunity to competitively apply for funding to deliver services among local service groups who reach our residents in greatest need.” Speakers from various agencies reached out to the participating nonprofits and offered information on how much stimulus funding was being received and applied for to help social service programs. The agencies who presented included the county’s Office of Grants Coordination, Alliance for Aging, Miami-Dade Community Action Agency, Miami-Dade Department of Human Services, Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade/Monroe,

Florida Department of Children and Families, Miami-Dade’s Homeless Trust, Miami-Dade Public Housing Agency, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami-Dade Office of Community and Economic Development, South Florida Workforce, and the United Way of Miami-Dade. On Feb. 17, President Obama signed into law the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), a $787 billion economic stimulus package and the largest one-time domestic spending program in U.S. history. To date, MiamiDade County has applied for more than $326 million in stimulus funding requests and received more than $115 million to provide residents with new and improved services in areas like workforce development, transportation, energy efficiency, education, infrastructure, and more. Daniel Wall, director of the Office of Grants Coordination, also explained how the funds potentially could reach nonprofits through competitive grants if the county is successful in getting some of the stimulus requests awarded. “We understand that grassroots organizations have strong ties to their communities and are on the ‘front lines’ of serving those most adversely affected by the economy,” Wall said. “The county is being extremely aggressive in its pursuit of stimulus funding for programs that will provide direct benefits to local communities and their residents, as well as help local nonprofit organizations to deliver those services.” For more information on funding opportunities for nonprofits, visit the Office of Grants Coordination’s website at <www.miamidade.gov/ogc> or call 305-375-4742. Café Med celebrates first anniversary at The Falls
BY LINDA RODRIGUEZ BERNFELD
For the past year, Café Med has been the place for families to go for dinner. The family neighborhood restaurant, located at The Falls near Bloomingdales, has a cuisine that includes numerous delicious Italian and Mediterranean dishes as well as homemade pizzas, pastas and seafood. Formerly known as Bice Grand Café, it was taken over by Frank Bernstein and business partner Fred Wright. The restaurant had been part of a chain, but they bought it away from the chain and changed the name to Café Med. It has no affiliation with the Café Med that was in Coconut Grove. Bernstein also renovated the décor to make the restaurant more inviting. He added a rug to improve acoustics and created a floral centerpiece as a focal point. It also helps break up the long dining room so the restaurant feels more intimate. Café Med is making good use of Florida’s sunshine and beautiful weather. Bernstein has seating for fifty on the patio and has plans to add a covering to protect diners from the elements on rainy days.
“It’s going to be a nice patio,” Bernstein said. Café Med also has a private room that can seat 40 where they host many private parties. When Bernstein took over the restaurant, he and chef Walter Peralta developed a new menu. “When we came here a year ago, we wanted to be a family neighborhood restaurant where people could come two or three times a week and not spend a lot of money,” he said. It didn’t take long for Café Med to become popular for Happy Hour. “I have entertainment four nights a week,” he said. Café Med offers 12 different wines by the glass including champagne. Food service also is available at the bar. When the recession hit, Café Med changed its Happy Hour to all day every day. “My appetizers are half price and all my drinks are half price, even top shelf,” he said. The appetizers are real food, not fried egg rolls or tiny portions. In fact, some people order a couple of appetizers and a drink and leave feeling full. Bernstein also lowered other meal prices. “It’s about giving back to the communi-

ty,” he said. “It’s working. Families come in have one or two appetizers and beer and pay less than fast food.” Café Med has Sunset Specials from 4 to 6:30 p.m. for $12.95. “I also have brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can choose from the brunch menu for $10.95,” he said. On Sundays, he has what he calls the Traditional Family Meal —spaghetti and meatballs plus a salad for $11.95. The table service also includes homemade bread and a trio of olive oil, roasted garlic or hummus or garlic butter. The restaurant has weekend brunch menus for $10.95. Because of the family friendly features and the reasonable prices, Bernstein has built up his business. They may come in the first time for Happy Hour and then return with their families. Bernstein is at the restaurant constantly so he can make sure that customers are satisfied. “I work very hard to make sure every guest is treated as a guest in my home,” he said. Café Med is located at 8888 SW 136 St. For information, call 305-232-8878.

The Way to A Man’s Heart Is Through His Stomach and The Way to Residents’ Hearts Is Through Great Dining Experiences BY KERRY GREEN MIAMI—Innovative retirement communities are dispelling the old-fashioned stereotypes of seniors and dining. As in any fine restaurant where gourmet dishes and appearances by the chef— dressed in crisp white toques—are expected, chefs at senior living communities are now raising the bar to meet residents’ growing demands. “Dining continues to be a common concern for many older adults moving to a senior living community,” said Helen Shaham, President of The Palace Management Group, one of South Florida’s leading companies specializing in senior housing and care. “Whether its breakfast, lunch or dinner, the dining experience can often be the highlight of the day. It’s the time when residents gather to socialize and exchange stories with friends and neighbors. And, nothing goes with great conversation like a great dining.” At The Palace, the first step in creating memorable dining experiences for residents is the selection of chefs with extensive culinary backgrounds. Alon Hershkowitz, the executive chef for The Palace Renaissance and Royale Assisted Living Communities, offers a wealth of knowledge and talent, having worked at several of the most luxurious hotels and country clubs including The National Hotel in Miami Beach. Under his culinary guidance, Assisted and Catered Living residents enjoy fine dining which rivals some of the best gourmet restaurants. He marries their desire for comfort foods such as traditional meat loaf and brisket with his flair for creating French, Italian and Mediterranean specialties. As people age, they experience a natural decline in their senses of taste and smell. Chef Alon compensates by increasing the intensity of the dish’s flavor and aroma with fresh, roasted garlic and special sauces and purees. “Dining has to be both enjoyable and healthy,” said Chef Alon. “We understand the need for limited to almost NO sodium & sugar intake and use no-salt seasonings such as Mrs. Dash. We also offer a wide variety of sugar-free desserts.” Chef Alon along with our Gabriel Garrido, the Food Service Director at The Palace Suites, a luxury independent living community, believe there’s always a reason for a celebration and have cre-
ated themed dinners throughout the month to heighten residents dining experiences. “Palace residents are well traveled and have very high expectations,” said Garrido, who has been with the company for over 10 years. “Employees get their greatest satisfaction from seeing residents happy; therefore, we go above and beyond to exceed these expectations while shattering the stereotypes of dining at a senior living community.” The Renaissance and Royale residents enjoy specialty dinners twice per month. Past themes have included German, Asian and Mediterranean. Suites’ residents enjoy gourmet dinners on Thursday nights with menu items including filet mignon and shellfish. Also, the Suites’ Happy Hour is kicked up a notch regularly, featuring an international theme and small plates from the region along with complementary entertainment. Recently themed Happy Hours have included a Spanish Tapas event featuring over 20 different appetizers along with flamenco dancers and an Italian Antipasto Party with over 15 delicious offerings including proscuitto di parma with fresh tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella. Holidays and special occasions are yet another way The Palace communities make the dining experience special. The Palace Suites recently set a record when it hosted the largest Mother’s Day brunch buffet for over140 residents and their families in addition to hosting a myriad of unique brunches throughout the year including a Sunday Gospel Brunch, a Country Western Brunch, an Oktoberfest Brunch, Father’s Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Xmas Day & Hanukkah buffets, and more. Residents also have opportunities to voice their opinions about the dining experience at The Palace. In addition to talking with the Chef as he visits their table every dinner to solicit feedback, they can share their thoughts during the monthly Resident Council meeting or write their comments in the Palace biannual Resident Satisfaction Surveys. Our chefs and dining room mangers take other steps to further maximize resident dining satisfaction. White linen tablecloths adorn each table and are accented by fresh flowers. Residents also enjoy a glass of wine and freshly baked bread (baked in-house) with dinner, and the young wait staff is educated daily about the Menu, the Daily Specials
& their ingredients and how they should be served. “It’s not simply about food on a plate,” said Chef Alon. “It’s about service. The dining experience begins even before the server arrives at the table; personal service is paramount. Here, the dining staff knows residents by name and anticipate their preferences.” Chef Alon has launched an engaging, interactive cooking show too. Twice per month, he prepares dishes such as stir fry vegetables, soups and meatballs, taking residents through the food preparation process and cooking stages. Donned in aprons and hats, residents cook along, and eagerly look forward to the finished product. “The Palace chefs don’t simply make meals, they make the entire dining experience incredible,” said Shaham. “Our food services satisfaction surveys are extremely high and residents take great pride in inviting their friends and family for dinner.”
Helen Shaham and her husband Jacob have been operating Senior Living Communities for the past 30 years. The Palace Suites in Kendall is a luxury Independent Living Community for active seniors. In addition, The Palace at Kendall campus is home to two Assisted Living Residences and a Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. They also operate The Palace Gardens Assisted Living Community in Homestead, Homestead Manor Nursing Home and The Palace @ Home, a Medicare Certified Home Health Agency. Their two newest projects are The Palace at Weston – Luxury Living for Those 55 and Over, and The Palace TelAviv, a Continuing Care Retirement Community in Israel. They have two communities under development – The Palace at Weston Senior Living and The Palace at Coral Gables, Independent & Assisted Living. Dade Demonstration Elementary alumni sought for reunion Alumni of Dade Demonstration Elementary who attended the school during the 1960s are invited to a class reunion on Monday, Aug. 17, 7 p.m., at Maria’s Greek Restaurant, 2359 Coral Way. Incidentally, the owner of the restaurant, Maria Sotiriou, is the mother of Angela Sotiriou, a Dade Demonstration alumna. To get the word out about this event, groups have been formed on <www.thefacebook.com> and <www.classmates.com> , according to Marcia Spevak Breiter, Class of 1966. “As of right now, about 20 people have confirmed they’ll come,” she said. Dade Demonstration Elementary taught first through sixth grade. Breiter said it was a regular school, but they used different teaching techniques like teaching spelling phonetically and concept learning, rather than memorization. In 1977, the school, located at 3501 SW 28 St., right behind Douglas Park, became the English Center, an adult-education facility. The tougher the times, the greater the stress. No one knows this better — or feels it harder — than the small business owner. When times are good, they employ a majority of Americans. But when times are tough, they are the first to lay off or reduce salaries. Those who can get by are still bombarded by headlines announcing business closures, job losses, and home foreclosures. All of this bad news can be very stressful. In 2008, the American Psychological Association reported that money and the economy were two of the top sources of stress for 80 percent of Americans. If you already have been forced to close your business or lay off employees, managing stress is even more important. Let’s discuss some important techniques. First, don’t panic. Stay alert to what is happening, but don’t obsess over the latest financial statistics. Sure, this is easier said than done, especially when your bills are piling up. However, if you focus only on the fact that you are unemployed and in debt, you will not be able to cope with stress and anxiety. Next, take control of your situation. Concentrate on what you can control. If your business is struggling, you may have to make difficult decisions, including laying off employees or even closing down. To do this and survive, you will need a plan. Following that plan will require discipline, commitment and, above all else, a single-minded determination to succeed. Doing the same at home is important as well. Financial planners and credit counselors can help you make a plan to take control of your economic situation. Pay attention to how you cope with stress. Avoid unhealthy behaviors like drinking, smoking and gambling. Fight the temptation to become irritable and aggressive. This only will worsen the problem. Consider whether you are taking a difficult situation and making it a disaster. What are you telling yourself about the meaning of events (“I’m a failure. This is the worse thing that could pos-
Regina Mendoza, PsyD –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
sibly happen.” If you find yourself having these kinds of negative thoughts, take a moment to carefully evaluate your actual situation. If these thoughts continue, consider seeing a mental health professional. Learn to moderate your physical reactions to stress. Slow, deep breathing will bring your heart rate and respiration back to normal and reduce muscle tension. Exercise three to four times a week. Eat well-balanced, nutritious meals. Maintain your ideal weight. Avoid nicotine, excessive caffeine, and other stimulants. Take breaks, and get enough sleep. Finally, maintain your emotional reserves. Reconnect with friends and spend time with your family. Take the family to the park or the beach for a free day of fun. Expect some frustrations, failures and sorrows. If you find yourself overwhelmed by stress, talk to a psychologist who can help you address your stress more effectively and provide additional support.
Regina Mendoza, PsyD, is a State of Florida-licensed psychologist who specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, stress and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder at her Miami-based practice. She provides individual and family psychotherapy and psychoeducational evaluations to children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Mendoza resides in the Roads neighborhood of Miami.

HARB announces its first open house in 18 years BY ROBERT HAMILTON The personnel of the 482nd Fighter Wing are busy preparing for their next major operation — hosting Homestead Air Reserve Base’s first open house and air show in 18 years. The base will open its gates to the public and host the “Wings Over Homestead Airshow” on Nov. 7-8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. The base’s first open house since being rebuilt after Hurricane Andrew will feature the famous U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds aerial demonstration team performing on both days. The event also will offer performances by the F-15 Eagle demonstration team, U.S. Army Screaming Eagles Jump Team, U.S. Air Force Jet Car, U.S. Air
Force Reserve Band, and Sky Soldiers: A Tribute to Patriots. Military aircraft including a B-52 Bomber, KC-135 Stratotanker, Navy Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), F-16 Fighting Falcon, C-130 transport aircraft, and an H-60 helicopter will be on display. “Having the air show not only allows the public to come out and see two days of world class flying, it serves to thank South Florida citizens and communities for their continued support of the military and veterans,” said Brigadier General William Binger, 482nd Fighter Wing commander. Information on the event and sponsorship opportunities is available at <www.wingsoverhomestead.com>.

2009 Ford F-150 just keeps getting better Ron Beasley AUTOMOTIVE EDITOR
LET’S TALK CARS You can’t see the biggest improvement to the Ford F-150, but you’ll certainly know it after a few minutes behind the wheel. Ford engineers have given the popular pickup truck a new highstrength, lighter-weight chassis that allows the 2009 F-150 to deliver more horsepower, better fuel economy, more towing and payload capacity, and even more safety features. The F-150 continues with a fully boxed frame constructed with hydro-formed and high strength steel side rails. The frame delivers 10 percent more torsional rigidity for increased durability and safety. The F150 also has such standard safety features as AdvanceTrac with RSC (Roll Stability Control) and Trailer Sway Control, plus available Rearview Camera Assist and Integrated Trailer Brake Controller. For power, Ford offers a choice from
three V-8 engines mated to either a fourspeed or a new fuel-efficient six-speed automatic transmission. The engines include a 5.4-liter, three-valve Triton V-8 that has been optimized for better performance and is capable of running on E85, regular unleaded gasoline or any blend in between; a 4.6-liter, three-valve V8, and a 4.6-liter, two-valve V-8, that delivers more horsepower with the same fuel economy performance as the discontinued V-6 engine. Diesel and EcoBoost gas turbo direct injection engines are planned for F-150 in 2010 as well. The interior of the F-150 SuperCrew has more usable space for moving more people and gear thanks to a six-inch stretch that improves rear seat legroom and cargo capacity. The second-row seat flips up and out of the way, and with the flat load floor the SuperCrew has 57.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the front seats, and it can haul items up to 47.9 inches tall (such as a new flat-screen TV). The regular F-150’s pickup box has a cargo capacity of 65.5 cubic feet and Ford designers have made it easier to use, more flexible and accessible with such new features as Ford’s Tailgate and Box Side Steps, the Stowable Bed Extender and the

Capricorn - If you are already married there could be dramatic changes in your relationship this week. Some kind of profound and challenging change could actually work to bring your closer together. If you are still single, you could meet someone dynamic and exciting soon. Aquarius - A little fun and games could not hurt your workplace, in fact, it's just what you all need to get your creative juices flowing again. If you are a manager, consider taking your team out to a sporting or entertainment event, to show your appreciation and maybe trigger off some creative energy. Pisces - There are opportunities for travel and entertainment this week, but it is going to cost a lot of money if you are not careful. You may be able to learn something about art, music or the spiritual arts such as meditation this week. Your energy levels are likely to fluctuate through the week.

The Town of Cutler Bay is committed to its Going Green Initiatives, and is constantly striving to look for ways to do its part to be an environmentally responsible community. One way of doing so is by opting out of receiving Local Business Directories if you do not expect to use them. AT&T has informed the Town that it will begin delivery of this year's Real Yellow Pages® directories in October 2009. Cutler Bay residents wishing to “opt out” of receiving AT&T directories or change the number of AT&T directories they receive can do so by calling AT&T at the number below. Cutler Bay residents are encouraged to participate in this environmental effort by calling AT&T at 1(866)329-7118 and requesting to be removed from the Local Business Directory delivery distribution list. Residents must call by August 16, 2009 to meet the deadline for this year’s distribution. Please let the Town know if you have participated in this effort by contacting gogreen@cutlerbay-fl.gov to inform us.
