Faculty Excellence Award in Service: Dr. Tatiana Rizova

Faculty Excellence Award in Service

TATIANA RIZOVA

Associate Professor of Political Science

Academic Dean

DR. RIZOVA faithfully embodies the university’s values of service and leadership across the campus, in her own academic discipline and to the wider community.

Serving as faculty senate president for both the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic years, Dr. Rizova spent countless hours successfully steering the faculty through the COVID-19 pandemic and representing the faculty in many university policy groups including the President’s Council on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Provost and Staff group, pandemic Instructional Delivery and Scheduling group, and the Emergency Policy group. To meet the challenges of the past two years, Dr. Rizova quickly responded to faculty concerns and spearheaded the creation of new faculty expert groups, the faculty Crisis Response Team, the ad hoc Senate committee on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and expanded the Senate Executive Committee.

Starting in 2020, she has also served as the Chair of the Department of Political Science. Dr. Rizova has been recognized for her work as a member of the Canadian Association of Slavists, participates in multiple academic groups including Bright Line Watch and McKinsey and has most recently served as the external member of two doctoral dissertations at Old Dominion University.
