WHAT A WEEK!

Last week, South Florida was hit with a series of heavy rains, causing flooding and flight cancellations at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The flooding also caused gas shortages and road closures in several cities in Broward County.

The heavy rains began on Monday, April 10, and continued throughout the week, with some areas experiencing up to six inches of rainfall As a result, many streets and highways were flooded, making travel difficult for residents and visitors alike In some cases, cars were seen driving through water that was waist-deep or higher

The flooding also had a significant impact on air travel, with many flights being delayed or cancelled at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport Passengers were advised to check with their airlines for the latest information on flight cancellations and delays Some airlines even waived fees for passengers who wanted to change their travel plans

In addition to flight cancellations and travel disruptions, the flooding also caused gas shortages in several cities in Broward County

Many gas stations were unable to receive deliveries of gasoline due to flooded roads and highways, leaving some motorists stranded and unable to find fuel for their vehicles

There were long lines Friday at gas stations throughout Broward County Several pumps were seen covered up and deemed out of order

Maximo Alvarez, the president of Sunshine Gasoline Distributors — one of the largest gasoline distributors in South Florida — confirmed distribution was disrupted, but there should not be issues within the next 24 hours Gas prices should also not be affected

The cities of Coral Springs and Tamarac were particularly hard hit
