Enjoy an easy walk around the beautiful blue-green lakes at Green Lakes State Park.These meromictic lakes were formed as glaciers moved through the area, forming both Green Lake and Mirror Lake. From Green Lakes head over to The Craftsman Wood Grille & Taphouse for a bite to eat. Enjoy their outdoor seating complete with firepits and lounge seating.

Take a scenic drive out to Beak & Skiff Apple Orchard for a full day of apple picking, apple-inspired treats and fall beverages. Chosen as 2020’s, #1 Apple Orchard in the country in USA Today’s 10Best Readers Choice poll, this family-owned orchard has been around since 1911. Grab a cider, plain or hard, from their tasting room before heading out to the orchards for some socially distanced apple picking. Share some cider donuts and apple fritters from their café and be sure to stop into the General Store for a variety of local products. After a relaxing day at the orchards, head downtown for some exploring and a romantic dinner. Spend some time exploring some of the murals in the downtown area and be sure to snap a picture in front of one of the newest Syracuse chalk art pieces. From there check out one of several outdoor downtown dining spots or head just outside of downtown for a romantic dining experience at Francesca’s Cucina.

FALL FUN For some pumpkin-focused fun make a short drive out to one of the area’s several patches to pick your own or select one already picked. Tim’s Pumpkin Patch and The Pumpkin Hollow are both located in the western suburbs of Syracuse. Tim’s charges a small admission price for their additional offerings this year, such as the animal barn, corn maze, hay maze and more! The Pumpkin Hollow also offers apple fritters, a café, wagon rides and animal area. For a list of more pumpkin patches and apple picking spots look for our list on page 21. Springside Farms — This popular Fabius agritourism destination features their Fall is A-Mazing pumpkin patch, corn maze, plus three permanent hedge mazes. A barrel train, giant jump pad, pedal cars and ziplines will keep the kids entertained for hours. They also offer a variety of homemade foods including apple fritters, cider donuts, fudge, hand-cut fries, house chili, hot dogs, grilled cheese and new this year - kettle corn, made on premises. FOOD & MORE Crazy Daisies — A garden center, café and fun cocktail spot all in one! Crazy Daisies offers all your favorite fall flowers but also serves up small plates during the weekdays as well as pizza on Fridays and Saturdays, breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays and chicken BBQ on Sundays. Try their specialty drinks that all include a flower from their own garden. Try one of their specialty lemonades or their mimosa flights for a fun treat. Enjoy sitting outside on their porch or lawn, or bring your own blanket and make it a picnic.

A popular pastime for any outdoor enthusiast couple is exploring the area’s many waterfalls. Spend a charming day in Skaneateles by beginning at Carpenter Falls. This 90-foot waterfall is located on the Bahar Nature Preserve, just west of Skaneateles Lake. Using caution, one can walk right behind the falls. A short half-mile hike will bring you to Angel Falls. Continue your day in Skaneateles, the gem of the Finger Lakes region, with a stop at Anyela’s Vineyards. Overlooking Skaneateles Lake, this winery has several outdoor patio spaces and paths through the vineyards. Finish your day at Rosalie’s Cucina, offering authentic Tuscan dining in the village of Skaneateles.

Eden - Looking for more of a food experience? Check out Eden, located in downtown Syracuse and offering plenty of outdoor seating within Hanover Square. Featured Events Fall Festival Days at Abbott Farms This family-owned u-pick farm located in Baldwinsville offers fun for the whole family! More than just apple picking, Abbott’s offers a corn maze, wagon rides, farm animals, hay climb, tube slides and more for families. A newly opened cafe in the Country Store serves up breakfast or lunch alongside your favorite bakery items and ice cream! Their Fall Festival Days also run weekends from Labor Day to Halloween, with some modifications.
Dunkin’ Halloween At the Park From the creators of Lights On the Lake, Fright Nights and lights on Jacob Lane, Halloween at the Park will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 1 through 31 at Jamesville Beach Park. This family-friendly, COVIDsafe event with themed displays and characters is set on a mile-long spooky trail. Vehicle passes must be purchased in advance to ensure social distancing. No tickets will be sold at the gate. Dress the kids to celebrate the spooky season. Pre-packaged treat bags are also available to purchase in advance online.
City Market Every second Sunday from August through October, find vendors from all over the region selling ceramics, vintage clothing, furniture, home décor, handmade crafts, antiques, and much more at the Everson Museum’s plaza.
Downtown Syracuse Farmer’s Market Featuring area farmers and produce dealers, selling fresh seasonal vegetables, fruits, baked goods, flowers, plants and more. The market runs 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Tuesday, through October 13th and is located in Clinton Square.
Drive-In Concert Series New to the area this year will be a series of drive-in style live concerts, featuring top musical acts from around the country. Taking place during the months of October and November these concerts will be located on the grounds of the Lafayette Apple Festival in Lafayette. Following COVID-19 guidelines concert-goers will be asked to stay at or in their own vehicles. Concessions will also be available.

CANAL WALKING TOUR: Take a walk through historic downtown Syracuse and learn how the Erie Canal shaped the city, and ways the neighborhood has changed since the waterway was its centerpiece. 2. ONONDAGA PARK: In the heart of the city’s south side is the pristine 82-acre Onondaga Park, recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. This gem borders the stunning Strathmore neighborhood, with man-made Hiawatha Lake and old gardens and grottos with pools and fountains. A picturesque park any time of year, this is a great place to grab some photos, bring the dog or take the kids on a walk around the centuryold interconnected parks and parkway.
2. WEST SHORE TRAIL: At Onondaga Lake Park Trailhead is at 390 Long Branch Rd., Syracuse. This is the perfect trail for enjoying fall foliage lakeside. The West Shore Trail allows various forms of recreation so it’s worth a visit if you want to bike, run, walk, rollerblade or skateboard your way along a paved path. Think you canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t get great views from within city limits? Things again when youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re in Syracuse. Thornden Park, in the University Hill section of Syracuse offers some great opportunities to view the changing leaves and setting sun. During the late summer months, tour the E.M. Mills Rose Garden before heading up to the water tower for another lookout of the leaf covered city and fall sunsets. Not to be outdone is Burnet Park, in the Tipperary Hill neighborhood of Syracuse. Head up to the public golf course for some spectacular views and check out the different stages of changing leaves. Alternatively, Burnet Park offers fantastic sunrises, for those early morning risers.

Take a drive down the winding and scenic Rt. 20 to discover some of the most expansive views of the area. Start your journey in the picturesque village of Skaneateles and discover why Skaneateles Lake is the gem of the Finger Lakes. Explore quaint local shops and take a walk out on the cobblestoned pier to view the colored trees lining the lake. From there, head east on Rt. 20 to one of the top apple orchards in the country, Beak & Skiff. Continue on Rt. 20 through the hills and valleys of Lafayette for a scenic drive through apple country. Enjoy sunsets and sunrises from the trails surrounding Onondaga Lake. On the east side of the Loop the Lake Trail lies Onondaga Lake Park. This two-and-a-half-mile trail features a Butterfly Garden, the Wegmans Playground, paved trails for walking, biking and more. There are also several picnic areas, a marina and more! With a beautiful lakefront view of sunrises and sets, this trail is a great choice for any time of day or evening. The western side of the trail, known as the John Haley Memorial Trail, offers four and a half miles of tree-lined and open area trails. Catch the sunrise with the background of the city of Syracuse or set over the north shore of the lake. Both sides of the trail are tree-lined offering a fantastic view as the leaves change throughout the season.
