This short break is the ideal way to start or finish your Christmas shopping as we visit Portobello Road Market and Covent Garden. Find truly unique gifts, from modern art to antiques, vintage to designer clothing and unusual items you wouldn’t necessarily find on the high street at these famous London markets.

Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre offers a unique shopping experience right in the heart of the historic city. On this short break we also include a visit to Cambridge, which is guaranteed to leave you full of festive cheer.

During your stay...

Day 1 – Enjoy a leisurely journey as we take you to London’s Portobello Road, home to one of the world’s best-known street markets selling the largest collection of antiques and bric-a-brac stalls.

Day 1 – With a comfort stop on the way, we travel to Cambridge for a couple of hours at leisure before continuing to the hotel this afternoon. Historic Cambridge is most known for its prestigious and traditional university which dates back to 1209. Away from the crowds, the festive season is a wonderful time to see the numerous architectural and historical buildings up close, many of which date back hundreds of years.

Day 2 – After breakfast we take you to Covent Garden, home to another one of London’s famous markets. Housed in and around the iconic Market Building and Piazzas, Covent Garden is an architectural masterpiece. Along with speciality shops, restaurants and cafés, you’ll come across street performers amongst the gorgeous craft, antiques and jewellery on offer. After a couple of hours here to explore, we begin our journey home.

Day 2 – After breakfast we travel to Bury St Edmunds to enjoy a full day at the Christmas Fayre. The Angel Hill area, with its Cathedral and Medieval Abbey Gate in the centre of Bury St Edmunds, is the ideal setting for this traditional Christmas Fayre. Enjoy 300 colourful stalls from all over the world, selling everything from crafts to local produce, two stages of entertainment and a traditional funfair before we return home.

NEW Laver Saver: Postal Museum & Stowe House

Escape the festive rush and getaway for a little bit with Laver Holidays. On this new short break, we have included visits and admission to the popular Postal Museum in London and the enchanting Stowe House, this National Trust property offers a timeless landscape with picture-perfect views.

The breathtaking sculpture ‘Wave’ - a magnificent sweeping arch of bright red poppies (originally seen at the Tower of London as part of the installation ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’) is making its way to the Imperial War Museum North and this is your chance to be there!

During your stay...

Day 1 – This morning we travel to Stowe House in Buckinghamshire, the scale and beauty of this Grade I National Trust property has attracted visitors for over 300 years, and it’s no surprise, with its pictureperfect views, winding paths, temples and a lakeside setting which all help to create a simply timeless landscape. After some free time, our driver will take you to the hotel to settle in.

Day 1 – We take you to Manchester, where we have included entry into the Imperial War Museum North which will be hosting a major exhibition ‘Lest We Forget?’ It will also present ‘Wave’, by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper as part of the final year of 14-18 NOW’s UK-wide tour of the iconic poppies. Inside, the ‘Lest We Forget?’ exhibition will explore how symbols of commemoration – from the iconic poppy to the twominute silence – have endured for a century, but also sparked controversy. Highlights of the exhibition include works of art which were intended for a ‘Hall of Remembrance’ that was never realised.

Day 2 – Today we visit The Postal Museum in London, much more than just a museum your visit will include a unique journey on the Mail Rail where you will ride through a section of unused track so that you can experience the hidden history of Mail Rail in motion! Afterwards enjoy 500 years of ground breaking postal history before we take you home.

NEW Laver Saver: Lynton & Portmeirion & Llangollen Dunster By Candlelight Rail Santa Special

Get into the Christmas Spirit on this short getaway and join Santa and his Little Helpers as he makes a special appearance on the Llangollen Railway! This weekend we also include admission into the unique townscape of Portmeirion for a delicious food & craft fair.

Step back in time as the village of Dunster lights its Medieval streets with just candles. This magical event is a unique chance to enjoy the village and its castle illuminated much more softly, whilst joining in on the traditional atmosphere.

During your stay...

Day 1 –This morning we visit Portmeirion. Standing on a clifftop overlooking Cardigan Bay, Portmeirion was specifically designed and built by Welsh architect, Sir Clough Williams-Ellis in the style of an Italianate village. Here, we will visit the Food & Craft Christmas Fair alongside traditional wooden chalets selling local produce. The event also has live music, cookery demonstrations and a magical Christmas grotto. After some free time, we take you to the hotel where we will enjoy dinner.

Day 1 – On our way to our hotel we visit Lynton – set amongst the spectacular scenery of an area known as England’s Little Switzerland – Lynton is a small Victorian town with a selection of shops, tearooms and cafés. Later, we continue to our hotel and enjoy a dinner.

Day 2 – After breakfast we take you to the small town of Llangollen, where we have arranged a very special journey for you. All aboard the Llangollen Railway, where your decorated carriage awaits ready to transport you to ‘Lapland’ (or Carrog as it’s known throughout the year). Join Santa on-board, and sit back and relax as Santa’s Little Helpers serve you a mince pie and mulled wine during the enjoyable journey.

Day 2 – After a leisurely morning, our driver will take you on a scenic drive through Exmoor National Park as we travel to Bideford, set on the banks of the River Torridge. Beautiful Bideford is the perfect spot to enjoy a couple of hours. Stroll along the lanes which are lined with quirky little shops and cosy cafés or head to the quay and admire the expansive waterfront. Later this afternoon we will be picked up by a shuttle bus which will take us to the village of Dunster. Every year in December this remarkably preserved medieval village lights up its street with candles; the atmosphere is both traditional and exciting and the entertainment throughout the village includes carol singers, morris dancers, hand bell ringers, a large fairground organ and choirs in the parish church. While you’re here, you can enjoy something to eat as your evening meal will not be provided at the hotel today due to our excursion. Day 3 – Enjoying a leisurely journey home, we stop at Clarks Shopping Village, home to over 90 shops to explore before continuing home.

Day 2 – Today we travel to Middlesbrough, where we enjoy a little free time at the magical Christmas transformed into a winter wonderland. Day 3 – After breakfast we visit Lowestoft. This once flourishing fishing port is now renowned for its quality of beaches, with the North and South beaches considered to be some of the very best in Europe.
