ots of great stories in Mike’s new book: Here’s one about a visitor to 2015’s Abbotsford Air Show where Mike was given a ride in the mint B25 Mitchell, Maid in the Shade, and at the same show a Lambergini sports car that gave the author a ride to remember. No problem deciding which was the most impressive for this pilot/writer. A long forgotten history of the Mitchell had to be told of the retaliatory raid on Tokyo by 8 Mitchells flying off the deck of the USS Hornet aircraft carrier to provide a response to that day of infamy when Japan bombed Pearl Harbour on December 07, 1941. It was to be a small taste of what was to come.

Here’s a staggerwing Beech from the book that suffered a gear-up landing all for the sake of a little cotterpin, which evoked the author to recall an old poem:
