UMMAGUMMA

U

mmagumma (pronounced Ooma-gooma) is a difficult album to rationalise. It’s a strange hybrid double album that features an album’s worth of live recording and a whole studio album on which each of the four members contribute unique individual pieces. The opportunity to write and produce each of the four pieces was in theory divided among the four contributors (although it is interesting to note that even in 1969 Roger contributed two pieces compared to the others, who got one each).
