KURSUNLU WATERFALL Not the most publicised attraction in the Antalya area but one well worth the effort to go and visit, situated about 14 kms from Antalya just North of Perge ancient site, so easily incorporated with Antalya Harbour excursion.
rapids splashing through trees and undergrowth. The light changes constantly as you walk round, the foliage is extremely verdant as if you were walking through some Amazonian jungle. The surrounding Pine forests provide a welcome respite from the hot summer sun.
Not the biggest of natural parks you will ever visit but certainly one of the most magical, I put Kursunlu Waterfall in the Best Kept Secrets category but in the summer and weekends it can be quite busy.
The time of year you visit will determine the flow of the waterfalls, during summer months it can be quite subdued, strong shoes are advised, easily walked round in 45 minutes.

The Pines and Dunes Golf Courses As you would expect the Pines Golf course is situated in a very wooded area of Belek, the course is just over 7000 yards off the back tees, being a par 72.

EPHESUS
PAMUKKALE
The ancient Greek city of Ephesus was the location of one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, sadly the Temple of Artemis is now in ruin.
Pamukkale, which has been used as a spa since the second century BC, literally means "cotton castle" in Turkish.
The Romans took over the city in 133 BC when Ephesus was still a viable seaport attracting traders from all over Europe and Asia Minor. When Augustus made Ephesus the capital of the region as many as 400,000 people occupied the city, the annual festival of Artemis (Diana to the Romans) became a month-long spring fest, drawing thousands from across the empire. Ephesus also attracted Christian settlers including St Paul who lived there for 3 years, it is also believed that St John chose to settle here with Mary the mother of Jesus when he wrote his gospel.
The travertine features have their origins in the shifting of a fault in the valley of the Menderes river (between here and Denizli). As the fault shifted, very hot springs with a very high mineral content (notably chalk) arose at this location. Apart from the slightly radioactive minerals, the calcium and hydrogen carbonate react to create calcium carbonate (also known as travertine) and limestone. This is what gives Pamukkale its whiteness and created the pools. It can get quite hot in summer, a hat and especially sunglasses will certainly be very helpful against the sun and the reflecting sun rays from the chalky cascades. It is still possible to bathe in some of the Thermal pools so remember to take your swimming costume with you.

Cornelia Golf Club Nick Faldo Course The Masterful Design of a Golfing Genius It is now over twenty years since the stretch of sandy coastal land that is now the Belek Golf Resort started to be developed on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.
Cornelia Faldo course is a 27-hole complex, divided into three nines, named the Tiberius, Gaius and Sempronia, these three nines combine to make the Kings, Queens and Princes courses.
There have been many golf course designers employed to re sculpture the land into what is now known has one of the fastest growing golfing destinations in Europe. What was once a vast pine forest plantation as over the last two decades been turned into a golfer’s paradise, with more than a dozen courses built and more in the planning. - When you want to create a special golf course you call in a special designer, you call in Nick Faldo!
These Roman-inspired names come from the fact that this part of Turkey is full of Greek and Roman ruins that are well worth a visit on your day off from playing golf. Like many of the Belek golf courses, Cornelia Faldo has the benefit of naturally sandy ground, with some interesting topography that Nick Faldo and his team have used to good effect in the course design.
A dune ridge that runs through the middle of the property has helped to develop some of the best holes. A good example is the terrific par three third hole on the Tiberius nine, only 150 yards from the back tee, the hole plays sharply uphill to a green sat on top of the dune ridge. Two deep bunkers “the Jaws� cut into the face of the hill give the hole its name, the undulating green, although large, is well suited to a short one shot hole, demanding either a very accurate tee shot or some finely judged putting if a three is to be obtained.

Another outstanding hole is the short par four eighth on the Sempronia section, a lake cutting in front of the tees and then down the left side of the fairway threatens the drive, the carry isn’t long, but two bunkers at the end of the landing zone mean that a drive over the narrow part of the water will still leave a tricky approach. The green is especially tricky from all directions, not to mention the fact that it slopes noticeably away from the line of play. The next hole I would single out is known as ‘Faldo’s Choice’, a short par four on the same kind of model as the famous fourteenth at Loch Lomond, with an allcarry direct route to the green or a layup option to the left. Trees also threaten the direct approach shot and three deep greenside bunkers wait to catch any ball that falls short.
It’s a nice hole, not, perhaps as dramatic as the original back in Scotland, but a fun opportunity for golfers who haven’t been lucky enough to visit Loch Lomond. Tiberius’s eighth hole is yet another shortish risk for reward par four, water threatens on the left and a drive that takes on a the longer carry will give a much easier approach, this hole is the perfect example of the exceptional quality of design achieved when building this golf course, you know it makes sense to lay up but damn it you are on holiday and want to prove a point. To sum up, don’t expect to achieve a great score the first time you play the Cornelia Faldo, try and imagine the mind set of a golfer who has won that many accolades we have all lost count, then you may begin to understand the way this course has been designed and the

challenge laid out before you. Put the Cornelia Faldo right at the top of your must play list! THE PASHA The sister course of the PGA Sultan, the Pasha is on occasion overshadowed by its big sister, but don’t let that put you off, the Pasha is in every way equally as good a challenge of golf. Although it is not as tough as the neighbouring PGA Sultan course the Antalya Golf Club's Pasha course is still a real test of golfing management. The Pasha is reasonably short which does mean it is more accessible for the higher handicapper than the PGA Sultan but there is still enough here to test the most demanding of players.
Towering umbrella pines, crystal clear lakes and the snow capped Taurus Mountains provide a spectacular backdrop to the course as it winds it's way through the forests of Belek.
Visually a real treat to play and a course that is ideally suited for holiday golf.
Antalya Golf Club is located in the Mediterranean resort area of Belek Turkey, only 30 minutes from Antalya International Airport. The climate and outstanding scenery are perfect for golfing holiday, the area offers the ideal opportunity to visit many of the ancient sites and ruins to be found in Antalya.
The course stands at just over 6,300 yards with a par of 72, designed by leading architects European Golf Design, together with design consultant and Senior Tour professional David Jones, provide not only a challenge to golfers of all abilities but also wonderful surroundings in which to enjoy your game. One of the main differences to the PGA Sultan are the fairways, they are much wider with easier to find landing areas, but be aware there are tricky doglegs, cleverly placed bunkers and undulating greens to ensure that the more experienced golfer must think over each shot carefully. A good short game is essential to any good round of golf, being too far away from the pin will almost guarantee a two or three put scenario, in many ways I found the greens a little trickier than the PGA Sultan.
The Pasha will test the skills of high and low handicappers alike with a combination of different challenges.
Of special interest are the breathtaking amphitheatre at Aspendos and the ancient city of Side, all within 30 minutes drive from Belek. To sum up, the Pasha is a golf course for the mid to higher handicap golfer, that is the way it was designed to be, I used every club in my golf bag to get round the course with a satisfactory round played just under my handicap. When you consider the delightful surroundings you can understand why I had a smile on my face, this is just a magical place to play golf. The Sirene hotel is situated just a mid iron away from the courses.
