Business administration majors can specialize in Finance, Human Resources, Management, Marketing and/or Sports Management. Students can double major within the department or in other departments on campus. Graduates have succeeded in M.B.A., M.A., J.D. and Ph.D. programs at competitive schools including Columbia University, Northwestern University and University of Chicago.

Coe accounting majors have very high job placement rates, with many students securing job offers midway through their senior year. Students have interned and secured full-time positions with several firms in Cedar Rapids including Transamerica and TaxAct as well as local, regional and international CPA firms.

The managerial accounting major is for students interested in pursuing a career in industry accounting or a not-for-profit entity. The public accounting major is for students interested in practicing public accounting and pursuing the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. Coe’s public accounting major satisfies the 150-semester hour requirement to become a CPA.

International Business Sarah started her career handling talent acquisition for all of Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids as their New Graduate Recruiter. She interned at Rockwell and accepted a job before graduation. She now works as a Human Resources Manager at Collins Aerospace.
Sarah benefited from Coe’s location in CEDAR RAPIDS, ONE OF AMERICA’S MOST PROSPEROUS MIDSIZE CITIES.
Cedar Rapids is full of internship opportunities and has the lowest unemployment rate for college graduates in the nation.

Josh works as a Mutual Funds Associate with Harris Associates in Chicago. His internships at The Weitz Company, St. Luke’s Hospital and Industrial Energy Applications gave him the experience necessary to work in a field he loves.

Business Administration, French Kristen doesn’t dream of studying abroad because she already did — she studied off-campus for a term in France. Following graduation, she received her J.D. at the University of Colorado Boulder. She is the Deputy Public Defender for Adams County in Colorado.
Students in the BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION & ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT have opportunities to study business-related topics.
