Coe makes it POSSIBLE. You make it HAPPEN.

Llamas, late night breakfast and Flunk Day.

Just some of the reasons

Coe is different...

Yes, you’ll have access to our vast network of academic, professional, health and wellness support services at Coe — but on the right day you might also meet a llama on your way to class. You could have soggy ramen as you cram before fnals — or you could come at midnight for a full breakfast with crispy bacon served by the president. You could choose a college that doesn’t cancel a random day of classes for an allcampus party — or you could come to Coe…and have Flunk Day.

At Coe, all of that, and more, is just waiting for you. Every day is a chance to make a memory and every week is an opportunity to make a name for yourself.

Find your outlet OUTSIDE OF CLASS.

The Coe experience is more than what you learn in the classroom. It’s also what you do outside of it.

Our recognition for abundant internships wouldn’t be possible without Cedar Rapids, Iowa’s second-largest city with 267,000 people in the metro area, including 4,000+ alumni. In fact, it’s the perfect college town!

There’s live music, local cofee shops, entertainment centers and farm-to-table cafes within walking distance of campus. There are semi-professional baseball and hockey teams, plus major retailers and boutique shopping. The Alliant Energy PowerHouse — a 9,000seat arena — is just blocks away, and the Paramount Theatre and McGrath Amphitheater are just beyond.

But college isn’t just gourmet cofee and concerts. The employment, internship, research and networking opportunities are expansive and attainable. Cedar Rapids has major corporations, two Top 25 teaching hospitals, nonprofts and small local startups.

An urban campus like Coe’s is an underrated advantage.

Surround yourself WITH GOOD PEOPLE...

Prepare for what really matters — a meaningful life with a fulflling career.

Coe is nationally recognized for the important impact its education has on students’ lives and the world around them:

U.S. News & World Report

You can expect to do good while you’re a student, as well as be prepared to continue making a diference after graduation. For instance, Coe education students volunteer to sub at local schools when teachers aren’t available. And, Kohawks explore programs that focus on fnding purpose and joy in life beyond a career.

Charlie Kohawk, Coe's beloved mascot, has created the tools you need to succeed. There are ofces and staf all over campus who are here for the sole purpose of helping you succeed. Wherever you see the "Charlie's Toolkit" sticker, you know you'll fnd helpful and friendly people to talk with.

They'll assist you with locating and understanding all the resources on campus, so all you have to do is use them! That might mean talking with someone about your fnances. Or, seeking help from a tutor for a challenging course. All of these resources and more exist in Charlie's Toolkit. It's what the Coe community is here for...you!

Coe ranks in the top 1% of private colleges nationwide for career services, and our Creativity, Careers, Coummunity center (C3) has a lot to do with that. The Office of Community & Civic Engagement is also part of C3, and will connect you with service opportunities across campus and throughout Cedar Rapids. Kohawks complete over 20,000 hours of community service each year.

Coe’s Learning Commons isn’t your run-of-the-mill academic support center with a few tutors it’s an expansive, all-you-caneat buffet of knowledge. From selecting a major and connecting with tutors to studying abroad and accessing accommodations, the Learning Commons is the heart of campus. You can practice for a class presentation and find guidance for national fellowship applications. Coe’s Writing Center is one of the largest student-run centers in the country. You can connect with any of the 60 peer consultants for assistance on any writing project.

COE WELLNESS

Our campus is a friendly, safe and secure place that welcomes students from across the state of Iowa, the United States and even the world. You’ll have access to mental health and counseling resources. All Coe students deserve to feel a sense of joy, belonging, purpose and value. Coe provides short-term counseling to students at no charge and referrals to necessary resources in the area.

STUDENT SUCCESS

Start college with someone by your side. Before you even move in for your first term, connect with your very own success coach to ensure you’re prepared for your first year as a Kohawk. Coaches can relate to the challenges and freedoms of moving from high school to college because they were in your shoes at Coe. This person will be your confidant and source of inspiration and knowledge!

Your success coach will:

• Share campus resources and point to services in the Cedar Rapids community.

• Make sure no deadline falls through the cracks.

• Always be ready to answer any questions or provide guidance regarding any Coe-related topic — seriously, no question is too big or too small for our team!

Whether you’re a first-generation student or a third-generation Kohawk, Coe will help you succeed every step of the way.

THE CENTER FOR

HEALTH & SOCIETY

Coe recognizes critical needs in society and steps up with solutions. The Center for Health & Society (CHS) is Coe’s

forward-thinking contribution to the

global shortage of health care workers. With the CHS, students across majors can find a role in health care, creating a more qualified and empathetic workforce.

Late Night Breakfast

This celebration spans an entire weekend and generations of Kohawks. A parade, pep rally, music, football game and dance highlight a weekend that features the best of Coe — spirit, camaraderie and excitement.

“It’s a pretty spirited week! You can feel a diference on campus leading up to the game, which is super cool to go to and be with your friends and connect with alumni. It’s just a really fun week.”

Staff and faculty dish out a delicious breakfast to the whole student body the night before finals week beg ins. The hashbrowns and bacon are Kohawk favorites.

“It’s so nice to relax right before fnals. Your professors serve you, and it’s just fun — at that time I’m ready to cram in bacon rather than cram in more studying!”
