X-Stream® IP Video Encoders X-Stream video encoders have been developed to provide real time, ultra low latency video transmission over IP networks with superior picture quality at reduced bandwidths. Utilising the latest H.264 Main Profile algorithm, single or multiple channels of analogue video feed can be inputted into an X-Stream video encoder (also known as ‘video server’). This video is then digitally encoded and compressed for Ethernet transmission across an IP network.

X-Stream H.264 Encoding

MPEG4 Encoding

H.264 Main Profile offers lower bandwidth and higher video quality than MPEG4 compression.

Integration with I-Command® Management System COE’s video encoding algorithms are fully integrated with our I-Command video management product suite and use RTSP (Real-Time Streaming Protocol) for media streaming, ensuring easy integration with third party management systems. Third party management systems can be easily configured to accept high quality streaming video and audio from X-Stream video encoders. However, advanced capabilities, such as embedded video analytics, work most effectively when coupled with COE’s I-Command management suite.

I-Command is a fully featured, highly scalable video management software suite.

Key Features of X-Stream® IP Encoders Universal Housing Options X-Stream modules can be housed and powered alongside any X-Net® fibre or Ethernet transmission product using a universal X-Net rack. Single, double and triple wide box housings are available for housing single or multiple X-Stream products for field deployment.

Alarm Indicators LEDs, relays and X-Net NMS provide local and remote alarm notifications, providing comprehensive system monitoring.

Contact Closures Up to four alarm inputs devices may be connected and up to three relay outputs facilitate a multitude of alarm/control scenarios to be realised.

Serial Data Channels Duplex data channels for control of PTZ cameras, supporting a wide range of camera control protocols.

‘Direct-To-Fibre’ The X-Stream 400-FX-VL can be directly connected to an optical fibre network.

High Quality Video X-Stream includes up to four primary channels and four secondary channels of low latency H.264 compressed IP video.

Decoder Modules X-Stream decoder modules permit analogue decoding for legacy management systems and analogue monitors.

High Quality Audio Duplex audio channel for intercom, public address or passenger announcements.

Ease of Installation Industry standard connectors are used throughout the entire X-Stream range for ease and speed of interconnection. No user adjustments are required for installation.

Onboard Storage SFP Optical Lasers • Increased transmission distances - SFP optics may extend transmission range up to 150km.

• Replaceable in seconds - Hot-pluggable optics provide maximum flexibility and ease of maintenance.

• CWDM capabilities - A range of SFP optics are available to enable on-site CWDM upgrade and configuration.

• Cost effective - Spares holding requirements are decreased due to the interoperability of all SFPs between X-Net and X-Stream modules.

• Future proofing - SFP optics are rapidly becoming the de facto standard for fibre transmission.

SD and USB interfaces are provided for onboard video storage.

X-Stream® Direct-To-Fibre Transmission The World’s First ‘Direct-To-Fibre’ IP Video Encoder X-Stream 400 FX-VL is ideal for IP encoding and transmission of cameras located outside the transmission range of Ethernet cables. Copper based Ethernet transmission is limited to 90 metres. In comparison, COE fibre optic products can transmit video up to 180km. The facility to transmit video over extended distances is very useful and applicable in the transportation industry and sites which cover larger physical areas. In addition, X-Stream 400 FX-VL is well suited for industries such as petrochemicals, as the risk of electrical sparking is eliminated.

Coarse Wave Division Multiplexing (CWDM) with X-Stream X-Stream combines with COE’s wide range of CWDM products to achieve highly flexible network designs. Using this method, up to 9 separate X-Stream 400 FX-VL modules (each configured to use a different SFP laser wavelength), may be combined to provide high density transmission of IP video, plus audio and data over a single optical fibre.

Multi-Site, Single Fibre CWDM X-Stream modules with FX-VL expansion and CWDM enabled SFP Optics may be used to transmit many channels of digitally encoded IP video from many remote sites back to a control area over a single fibre core.

X-Stream速 System Configurations Typical X-Stream System Configuration X-Stream modules input video from analogue cameras, encoding and transmitting 1 to 4 inputs per module to an Ethernet network. With optional additions, direct-to-fibre and dual redundancy Ethernet enhancements are made available.

X-Stream 101 Port Configuration Housed in a compact boxed unit and PoE enabled, X-Stream 101 is ideal for discreet housing in space restricted areas.

X-Stream 400 Port Configuration X-Stream 400 transmits IP video, alarms, data, audio and contact closure over an Ethernet network.

X-Stream® Project Applications Meets and Exceeds Transport Standards X-Stream video servers are installed in landmark sites around the world, including Manchester International Airport. Designed for high performance in rugged environments, X-Stream products exceed transportation standards, ensuring suitability for deployment and operation in any environment. Manchester Airport’s network encodes and transmits over 950 channels of analogue video across its three terminals using X-Stream encoders.

ONVIF Compliance X-Stream has been developed to be compliant to the ONVIF Standard. By adhering to the ONVIF Standard, COE assures interoperability between X-Stream and other ONVIF compliant products. ONVIF compliance facilitates ease of integration between X-Stream and IP security devices from a variety of manufacturers.

Embedded Video Analytics The X-Stream range features embedded intelligent video analytics capabilities. These are unlocked by the addition of COE’s I-Command SmartDetect software. Video analytics is a powerful technology that has been developed in response to the emergence of IP technologies in the video surveillance industry. The enhancement of analytics to cameras adds depth to the functionality of any CCTV network and allows operators to extract real business value. Benefits of intelligent video analytics include: ▷▷ Heightening awareness to potential security and safety risks across a site or multiple sites. ▷▷ Protection of assets, staff and the general public. ▷▷ Enhancement of operator effectiveness and incident identification. ▷▷ Instance tracking for toll charging, logistical purposes and revenue generation.

X-Stream encoders feature embedded I-Command SmartDetect analytics.
