ellbeing is a key part of Coexist and was one of the first ideas to be developed when the project started at Hamilton House in 2008. The initial concept of the Wellbeing centre was to provide a space for healing and relaxation, and that’s exactly what it does to this day. Starting above noisy dance studios the Wellbeing therapy rooms current home is a peaceful purpose built centre comprising of four lovely treatment rooms on the opposite side of the building. As the project has developed, it has also grown in reputation as a centre of professionalism and excellence in the complementary health field. Skilfully led by a community of therapists offering a wide range of treatments including massage, yoga, aromatherapy counselling and more. For a full list of treatments: http://wellbeing.coexistuk.org/treatments (therapists can be contacted directly to arrange sessions with them).

December MUSIC @ THE CANTEEN Mon 1 Tue 2 Wed 3
Canteen Hip Hop Session - Guest MC’s and musicians join the rhythm section of the ultrafunky DeCyphers collective for a monthly exploration of all things hip (and, indeed, hop).
Twelve Months of Summer - Monthly showcase of the best acts from the acoustic scene pulled together by the sparkling Miss Rosina Buck (who is one such herself). Balkanova - Middle Europe thinking trio with a whole bunch of musical imagination. The possibilities are endless, especially when you factor in all three as vocalists. The answer? Be there!
Thu 4
JFS Xmas Party feat. Hornstars/Rhythm Pencils - It’s short for The Jazz Funk Soul Society - and that’s somewhere we all want to live, right? The powerhouse sound of this super-hot collective of young players has been rocking the Big Chill for ages and we’re delighted they’re bringing the brassy Hornstars and Dixie-doting Rhythm Pencils when they come to play here.
Fri 5
Undercover Hippy - Once you hear his conscious and creative lyrics you realise that his suit, tie and haircut make a pretty feeble disguise for Billy Rowan’s left field credentials. “I won’t go quietly” he sings and we’re all very glad of that indeed.
Sat 6 Sun 7
Fromage en Feu - Lively bunch of Europhiles romp their way through tunes from Klezmer to café culture via the Balkans, unafraid to tackle even the most challenging of European traditional music.
Mon 8
Canteen Jazz Session - An open jazz jam session for seasoned players to join the house trio and others in exploring classic jazz & latin tunes.
Tue 9
The Flamenco Thief - Guitarist Craig Sutton returns from his globe-trotting mission to take
Wed 10
Ellie Rose Rusbridge - She may be making big waves in that London but it should be pointed out that the brilliant Ellie Rose Rusbridge calls Bristol home, which means we get the last night of her Night Becoming Tour. That’ll be an evening of her beautifully poetic folk-meets-classical songs wrapped in one of our favourite voices, then? Magic.
Thu 11
Fatman Swings - Purveying some of the finest jumping jive and speakeasy R’n’B in this neck of the
Fri 12
Roots Prescription - When this lot get down to dropping the pressure you can be sure it really drops. Drawing on the toughest rhythm sections taking classics from the 60s, 70s and 80s putting them through the dub wringer.
Sat 13
Wormfood Ft. Foufoulah & John Hendicott One of those delicious multicultural meltdowns from the UK world music scene, this lot have West African percussion, dub-style bass lines and Western electro-pop things all going on at once with those distinctively soulful Senegalese vocals topping off their party-starting sound very nicely indeed.
Sun 14
Rhythm Pencils - You generally expect a trad jazz band to be somewhat advanced in years so it’s a

very pleasant shock to see this bunch of whippersnappers cutting a Dixieland rug.

Balkans and heading for old-time country in search of moonshine, bluegrass and some good old folky stuff. Emily Wright’s smoothly louche vocal evocation of swing music of the 30s and 40s and beyond.
Get The Blessing - If you want to Get The Blessing you better Get Here Early, as past experience shows that loads of us really love the in-your-face punkjazz grooviness and fancy post-rock manoeuvrings that they make. Specialising in riotous sax and trumpet, no-nonsense gut-wrenching beats and dourly bewildering stage banter this lot will Make Your Day.
Fri 19
Zen Hussies -Speakeasy chic, anyone? Jive-by shootouts? It’s all very fashionable now but this 6-piece outfit have been mining the old-time swing seam since 2001, which is why they’re so damn good at it. Full-throttle trumpet and clarinet, honking baritone sax and the fine theatricals of vocalist Jonah Flatfoot are just some of the reasons we love ‘em.
Sat 20
Duncan Disorderly & The Scallywags - There’s about eight of them, with all kinds of instruments, and they got that Gypsy/Rumba/Reggae thing going on. It’s the kind of infectious good time that defeats antibiotics.
Sun 21 Mon 22 Tue 23
Acousticians - Ace violinist and Balkaneer Fiona Barrow selects a choice ensemble of acoustic musicians to join her for an unpredictable voyage into the wider realms of improvisation. Canteen Jazz Session - An open jazz jam session for seasoned players to join the house trio and others in exploring classic jazz & latin tunes.
Leo James - As much a guitarist as a singer/songwriter, Leo James draws on the roots of English and US folk before adding impeccable finger-picking and swooping steel guitar.
Sat 27
Session One - It’s funky party time whenever Session One hit the stage with their repertoire of popular faves delivered by tirelessly energetic vocalists and a proper show band with attitude.
Sun 28
Western Skyline - Here’s a chance to give your ‘Yee hah!’ a bit of a workout, what with Western
Mon 29
Lady Nade & Seb Gutiez - Here’s a bit of a treat for fans of Nade’s incomparably rich vocals and the zippy swing of Zen Hussies guitarist Seb as this twosome take their pick of classic jazz and blues songs.
Tue 30
Marie Lister - Duval Project vocalist Marie Lister somehow catches all the soul of great R’n’B in
Skyline being a proper job country covers band - they even gotten themselves a banjo.

NYE Block Party Ft. Contraband Breaks Ensemble, Wonky Logic & Wed Dj Harsh Nature - The Canteen is taking it back to the concrete streets this NYE 31 for one almighty, old- skool block party. Contraband Breaks Ensemble will bring a frenzy of hip hop from the golden age so get ready to dance your way into 2015. Design by www.danchernett.com
