Welcome

Welcome to the March edition of the Hamilton House programme. This month we’re looking forward to the spring equinox and have a whole range of new events, workshops and courses to inspire you through the change of the seasons. On the 19th March, cook with wild plants and herbs to create a tasty and nourishing meal using locally gathered ingredients from allotments and gardens with Amanda, From Plot To Pot (page 8). Treat youself to a therapy; Wellbeing’s newly established Graduate Clinic offers Massage, Shiatsu and Reflexology, it’s run by newly graduated therapists and takes place every Sunday (page 10). Learn how to dye your own clothes with local wild dye plants, organic farm produce and recycled food waste with Native natural dyes (page 10).

CoResist : working through the ar ts for environmental and social change CoResist is a dedicated and innovative collective that facilitates discussion, raises awareness and takes action on issues that affect our environment and community. They have been working in partnership with Coexist here at Hamilton House to create and curate transformative arts projects in the building and beyond. Operating collaboratively, the collective has an egalitarian ethos and a non-hierarchical structure. It operates as an open platform, seeking to help people to address the issues they feel passionate about. CoResist works with an ethos of community and cooperation, uniting in resistance against social and ecological threats such as fracking, and actively supporting external campaigns that fall within its values. Last month the collective collaborated with local environmental campaigners who took to the treetops to protect Stapleton allotments against the controversial Metrobus development. So far this year CoResist has already held screenings and discussions for the feature documentaries ALUNA and Triple Divide, and more captivating film nights are to follow. During February, the collective curated a range of workshops and installations where artists and the public converged to discuss and explore the topic of Our Nuclear Future. This month: get involved with the 24 Hour Charity Panto (20th-21st March), or come and explore the Museum of Love: in Bristol for one night only (27th March). Explore a museum full of artefacts donated by Bristolians which explain what love means to them. Is your love for a place, a family, an occupation, a cause, something more spiritual?
