The Coexist Community kitchen can be hired for all sorts of food adventures and educational workshops. please contact us at: food@coexistuk.org to find out hire rates and availability. A quick interview with Harriet Wilson who will be running Bittersweet (Chocolate), 13th Feb & Sugar and Spice and all things Jolly Nice, 3rd April. I grew up on… a dairy farm. I have memories of almost falling in the huge 1000 litre milk tank. The first time I made Ice cream… was when I was given a £12 ice cream maker from a car boot sale. Nothing will ever live up to that present. While working as a pastry chef… I remember the chefs running around trying to light each others bottoms on fire with blowtorches. My kitchen is a bit more civilised. I set up my business when…I was 16. I funded it with a litter of flat coated retriever puppies. I bottle fed 13 of them and sold 12. I spent my first pay cheque on… inappropriate shoes. I love … dreaming up new ice cream flavours. I get inspired by people and history. I’ve just come up with something pretty special (with the help of a friend and a native Jamaican) called Jamaican guinness punch. Imagine a sweetened guinness head with a bit of a ginger kick. Quote from said Jamaican: “this me culture!”. I’ll be peddling it at St Paul’s carnival. My weirdest food habit is… probably eating whole tubs of ice cream with ease. I’ve tried some weird diets in my time too.... Wouldn’t recommend the banana diet. My proudest moment… Rocking up at my first ice cream gig with airstream in tow. Me in the passenger seat my long suffering dad driving. He’s been likened to an eighties pop star on more than one occasion. Interested in the courses Harriet is running? Our Services
We offer the following courses to help people get skilled up in bike mechanics Bicycle Basics Bicycle Basics: an introductory course on understanding and maintaining your bike This course is perfect for people who’ve recently taken up riding a bike and would like to know how to get the most from it. This short evening class covers a mix of parctical tasks and theory aimed to help you ride more efficiently. Intensive Course A complete cycle maintenance course over two Saturdays, tailored around your bike. The first day covers the basics whilst the second gets more involved with the deeper workings of the bike. You can book either day or just one day if you prefer. Seznec Brothers - Bona fide brothers who use their voices and a stack of musical instruments to create a fresh-sounding fusion of old-time styles and world music influences. By turns jazzy, folky and sometimes just plain odd they are never less than completely musical and always entertaining.
