We’re gearing up to a bigger and better event than ever and we’ve got some surprises in store so be ready to expect the unexpected!

Matt Deegan - Editor

(this is what happens behind the green doors)

What’s the Open Day all about? The Hamilton House Open Day is a celebration of the diverse hotbed of talent that sits within Stokes Croft. It is a yearly opportunity to come and experience the full range of things that are happening in this thriving hub. There’ll be free dance tasters, open artist studios, cookery workshops, live music throughout the day, barbecue & community cafe, free bike maintenance, tasters of holistic treatments, a pop-up tenant shop filled to the rafters with products made within these studios, kids activities (including instrument making and storytelling), and an incredible array of speakers coming to talk on a range of social and environmental issues. It is always massively entertaining, with lots of unexpected happenings. For anyone whose not sure what goes on here, this is the time to come and experience it in all its glory!

Welcome to the Hamilton House programme - Open Day Edition The Open Day is upon us making June 14th the most important day in your diary this month! The place to be is Stokes Croft, the venue, our very own - Hamilton House!

An interview with open day organiser Brendan Tate about the ridiculously creative happenings of our annual event.

What’s different from last year? More pop-ups including a secret stage, more speakers from the wider Bristol community speaking about important global issues, more food and more fun. Having invested 50k into our Community Kitchen we are ready to show it off to the world, the drop-in Indian cookery workshop is going to be a treat for foodies. Our pop-up shop has taken on an eco/natural world theme, an exciting feature in the Bristol Green Week programme. Coexist and the Hamilton House project is at it’s most abundant so there really is no better time to come and see what we’re doing. What are you most looking forward to? Stunning performances of the Hunter and Homage to Hitchcock from Kristin and Davy Maguire, beautiful

bike strip sundays Alternate sundays from 5pm to 7.30 pm Come and help us strip down and disassemble the bicycles that are donated to us that are beyond repair. We will keep all of the parts that can be reused to build and fix up other bikes.

DONATE YOUR UNWANTED BICYCLE! Have you got a bike collecting dust in your shed? Then why not bring it along to the project where we will find it a good home?

It’s the perfect session for people to get to grips with how a bicycle works and our friendly mechanics will be on hand to offer you guidance and advice. If you would like to volunteer with us but feel you need some basic skills, this is a great place to start. We have plenty of volunteering opportunities throughout the week, check the website for more details. open Mon to Fri 9am - 5.30pm

Their music sizzles like a pampas barbecue with stinging acoustic guitars and swooning bandoneon driven by relentless percussion. Namvula The word is that Zambian singer-songwriter Namvula is the Big New Thing in world music, with anticipation for new album Shiwezwa already a hot ticket item, not least for the sizzling involvement of Led Bib bassman Liran Donin and the classic guitar cascades of Osibisa’s Kari Bannerman. But it’s her assertive vocals and the sheer strength of her material that holds the whole thing together.

Mon 30

Swallow & The Wolf Quite how two people make such an epic sound is a bit of a mystery but when Russell Swallow’s voice and guitar blend with Jess Kennedy’s keyboards and vocal harmonies there’s a completeness about the sound that can fill a room - quietly. It’s a class act, this. Design by www.danchernett.com
