Wormfood Ft. Skutch Manos Manchester's acoustic trio Skutch Manos combine demonic post-Flamenco Spanish guitar, driving double bass, unrelenting drum and percussion beats. Toyface Whimsical singer/songwriter Toyface takes her eloquent confessional poetry, strings it across a seemingly simple musical scaffolding before singing it with loads of pizzazz. Canteen Hip Hop Session Guest MCs and musicians join the rhythm section of the ultrafunky DeCyphers collective for a monthly exploration of all things hip (and, indeed, hop).

Ali George & Ruby Brown In Ruby Brown's crystalline vocals seasoned troubadour Ali George found the perfect complement to his own voice and forcefully intricate guitar. Jaz Delorean / Tim Fulker We've got Tankus the Henge's guitarist and front man round to play! Come and enjoy Tim's very fancy acoustic finger work and Jaz's charming cabaret sleaze.

People’s Front Room Band You've probably stumbled across this lot in a festy field, drawn in by their psychedelic trash décor and pretty tasty and (pretty random) musical treats. Baraka Baraka make vibrant pan-African music with a Caribbean undertow, plenty of rhythm and a rich instrumental sound that takes you from Kingston to Kinshasa and back again.

Rum Buffalo

Ragtime banjo and rootin'-tootin' harmonica meets Billie Beckley's sleazy vocals making something fresh, albeit steeped in vaudevillian sepia and smoked with moonshine rye.

The Seatsplitters Another branch of the Poor Old Dogs family, this duo will infuse their usual repertoire of lively stompin' folk with more traditional tunes. Canteen Jazz Session

An open jazz jam session led by saxophone hero Craig Crofton supporting seasoned players to join the house trio and others in exploring classic jazz & Latin tunes.

Al Fresco Trio Another quirky offshoot from the sizzling musical cauldron that is Sheelanagig. Expect jazz and swing, Balkanised campfire dance tunes and a bit of Celtic tradition. Crofton/Smith/Brown/Moore Here's four of our favourite good time jazzers all in the one band - magic! Time for gut-grabbing grooves and whip-tight soul-jazz played from the heart.

14

Railroad Bill Play skiffle - the punky folk-blues music of the 50s like Railroad Bill? You'll probably worship the great Lonnie Donegan. And he said they're ‘bloody good.

Fri

Dila V & The Oddbeats Bosporus-straddling blend of Turkish folk and irresistible Balkan

15

dance beats comes with hints of Greek Rebetiko amongst other tasty world music flavours.

Sat

Bare Hunter

16

BBC 6 Music called them ‘an awesome noise' and this threesome from London

mash up rockabilly, grunge and sleazy swamp-rock into a kind of Motörhead-minded thrashout.

Jonny Bruce Few people could make the kind of flamboyantly ear catching music that seems to slip so easily from trumpeter Jonny Bruce. Slimline Henry Blues Session When harmonica guru Henry 'Slimline' Slim blows that ol' harp be sure some of the best roots blues merchants come a-runnin'. The Little Unsaid Singer, poet, film maker and musician John Elliott brings original blends of classic acoustic songstrelsy and multi-layered electronics. Daan Temmink Quartet While tightly structured contemporary slow-burners figure in the quartet's repertoire you can expect a fair amount of hard-bopping upbeat modern jazz too. James Paton Band Well-established Bristol drummer James Paton has outed himself as a singer/songwriter with soulful, R'n'B and hip-hop inspired original songs. Mr T & The Minions Fronted by livewire songstress Elle Ashwell and the sizzling fiddle of Lucy Razz there's something irresistible about their party-centred Balkan-inspired Gypska. Nomad Collective A dozen musicians from around the world who've all fetched up in London bring their different inspirations and roots together into a global dance music big band. Pete Bernard Pete Bernard does folk? Is there no end to the man? He's well known in the world of dance music but here shows he's got a real ear for traditional folk.

Canteen Jazz Session An open jazz jam session led by saxophone hero Craig Crofton supporting seasoned players to join the house trio and others in exploring classic jazz & latin tunes. Mike Dennis Mike Dennis comes at hip-hop from both sides - he's deeply immersed in the whole beat-making thing, knocks up a rhyme or 2 AND uses his grade 8 violin skills. Yumi & The Weather

Their big production electropop sound and clever experimentation

27

framing Ruby Taylor's perfectly poised vocals recall Mute records in their 80s heyday.

Cousin Kula Psychedelic Indie gets the folk rock treatment with lashings of shiny Jazz ambience. This is all lovely stuff, epic pop with intelligence behind it and catchy to boot.

Hannah Williams & The Tastemakers

The taste they make is pure, sweet soul honey, thanks to Ms Williams' scruff-of-the-neck vocals and a smartly woven Motor City sound.

People’s String Foundation Twenty strings - two fiddles, bass and guitar -plus a set of skins. It's open to a lot of imagination and the PSF don't lack on that front. Circe’s Diner

Ravishing stuff this. Their elegant music comes bedecked with wayward imagination, sumptuous vocal harmonies, keys and multi-instrumental talent.
