Welcome This May, Hamilton House is a hive of activity with lots of events, workshops and courses to offer! As always you can find our listings on pages 7-10. The highlight of this month is the opening of our In-House Shop as a permanent fixture. It’s been a long time coming and we reckon it will be a roaring success. Finally we have the perfect place to showcase the diverse range of products If you’re interested in created in the building.

Pop-Up Shop goes Bang! For the past 2 years, our biannual Pop-Up Shop has showcased an eclectic selection of creative goods from our talented and diverse residential artists, designers & makers. This May we’re excited to announce that our biannual Pop-up Shop is about to pop, bang and explode into a permanent feature, alongside our revamped gallery space! Selling a wide range of local handcrafted products; everyday essentials, silly somethings, exquisite luxuries and much more. W h at’s o n this mo n th Introduction to Bread Making 2nd May, 11am-5pm, £95 Firebelly’s founder Rachel Baker will share her passion and experience of bread-making; teaching you the skills and techniques to take home. You’ll make a beautifully holey foccacia, crunchy airy ciabatta, signature apple chelsea buns, and giant chocolate/cinnamon doughnuts. There will also be an introduction to sourdough baking, and you’ll make your own sourdough starter to take home. The workshop includes lunch: stonebaked pizza (made by you, of course) with a delicious seasonal salad.

Smile Instigation Collective Workshops 8th April-10th June, 7-9pm, £6 Come and take part in a hands on workshops where you can use your own creativity and be inspired by others to build mini art exhibitions, guerrilla art and anonymous installations all aimed at making people smile! Meet ups will be fortnightly taking place at Hamilton House, Stokes Croft. We will get together to plot our mission and then head out into the night air.

Peace Education Programme April 16th-18thJune, 6.50-8.00pm, £3-5 An innovative educational program with a curriculum that consists of 10 videos; interactive workshops are non-religious and non-sectarian. The content is based on excerpts from Prem Rawat’s international talks.

Re-calling Vocation 7th May-11th June, 9.30am-12.30pm, £120 This 5 week course will address the profound resources of love for the deed, the courage needed to face avoided challenges, the ability to hear one’s inner calling and the ability to mobilize the will needed to re-create one’s true Vocation.

Global Justice Now - Bristol Group Monthly Meeting 11th May, 6-8pm, FREE A democratic social justice organisation, working as part of a global movement to challenge the powerful, and create a more just and equal world. The group helps to mobilise people locally and nationally in the UK to tackle the underlying causes of poverty, acting in solidarity with others fighting injustice, particularly in the global south.


Concious Communication Skills Training Day 16th May, 10am-5pm, £40 (Concs), £50 (Early Bird), £60 (Full)

Re-Wilding The Human 28th May, 6-8pm, FREE

A fun and self-explorative way to improve conscious communication and learn useful conflict resolution skills.

An evening exploring ways to reconnect with our wild and earthly selves through talk, story and imagination.

Through role-play, games and personal reflection we will explore the causes of conflict; common reasons for breakdown in communication and practice conflict resolution tools.

Stand Up Comedy Workshops

Exploring the role of Self-esteem in interactions, personal and common triggers in conflict, core beliefs and assumptions and th principles of clear communication.

16th May-20th June, 1.40-4.30pm, £200 Brought to you by The Comedy School, this six week course will guide you through the process of becoming a stand-up comedian, from writing your first piece of material to your debut performance. Sessions are run by professionals from the comedy circuit. The course culminates with a Showcase, in which you perform your comedy routine to a warm and friendly audience.

Native Natural Dyes Mikey Jones Wales In Colour Exhibition 16th May-4th June, 9am-9pm, FREE A painting exhibition, documenting Welsh cities and landscapes, a personal exploration by the artist. Each piece expresses elements to build a vivid contemporary narrative of Wales.

28th May, 7-9pm, £30/£25 Learn how to dye your own clothes with local wild dye plants, organic farm produce and recycled food waste as part of a chemical-free, zero-waste, textile design process. Please bring a small item of natural fibre clothing or textiles to class. A silk scarf or vest is ideal.
