Sur le Mur is pleased to present “Lion Woman Man Water Sand,”a dynamic group exhibit comprising works by American artists that supports world peace curated by Tom Lieber that includes Kelly Risk Graval, Lila Roo, Bruna Stude, Barbara Vaughn, Mark Van Wagner, and Sara M. Hall that will travel to Abu Dhabi in November. Thomas Paul exhibits “In Pursuit of Bliss, oil paintings by Chinese artist Xizi Liu. Liu’s work explores capitalist consumerism, focusing on sites of consumption and production in contemporary environments. Her paintings depict anonymity in places where selling is mingled with amusement and the arousal of free floating desires. George Stern Fine Arts presents Frederick Wight (19021986), who was a masterful artist, educator, curator, and mentor who was instrumental in shaping the artistic education of the Los Angeles public for over 20 years. This exhibition highlights the artist’s signature oil paintings of towering palm trees and luminous sunlit skies of Los Angeles. Brenda Harrop presents “Perspectives,” new work by 2wenty, Franck Bailleul, Ray Howlett, Ryan McCann, Paul Rusconi and Torie Zalben that both question and alter everyday perspectives, that range from meditative investigations of spatial relationships to meaningful reassessments of the state of one’s ideas. Spatial rhythms and optical dimensions are deeply heightened in Torie Zalben’s multimedia photographs as well as in Paul Rusconi’s paintings, which

serendipitously extend the array of reflections beyond Ray Howlett’s incandescent light and glass sculptures. Humanity’s conventional perspectives are profoundly examined both by 2wenty’s luminescent text sculptures and by Ryan McCann’s meticulously blow-torched wood constructs, encouraging viewers rethink belief systems and realities. CMay Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of works by Seoul-based artist Lim Ok-Sang. This is the artist’s solo debut in Los Angeles and his first exhibition with the gallery. One of the leading artists of the Minjung art movement that emerged in the 1980s in correspond-ence with protests against military rule in South Korea in the 1980s, Lim’s work renounces styles derivative of Western models and practices and aims to fill the gap between art and society using folklore traditions. Lim’s work is featured in the collection of prominent institutions such as the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea, Seoul Museum of Art, Leeum Art Museum, Busan Museum of Art, Gwangju Biennale, and the Total Museum of Contemporary Art. Industry’s “Organic Conversations” features work by German artist Tobias Klein whose work operates in the area between design, art and architecture, across the fields of installation, experimental interactivity and urbanism. Klein’s fascination with the construction of space is conveyed in an exhibit that sets up a conversation between two spaces (one virtual and the other actual) to deploy a ritualistic performance based on the idea of wearing a mask to conceal and activate the presence of the other.
