Competitive advantages of mining dump trucks BELAZ

ENGINE • Diesel engines with electronic control and central switchingoff impeller of cooling system provide high specific power and consequently high speed of dump truck when driving uphill, as well as high fuel efficiency. • To facilitate starting of the engine at low temperatures dump trucks are equipped with engine coolant and fuel preheater that provides easy starting and stable operation of the system in various climatic zones, including Far North. ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION • Correlation of power and speed characteristics approximates dump truck parameters to the characteristics of ideal theoretical stepless transmission. • Algorithm of control system optimizes the parameters of the drive system. • Gear shifting is not required. • Smooth change of power in motion. • Provides lower operating costs and greater productivity during transportation. • Contains no units exposed to wear.

.

Competitive advantages of mining dump trucks BELAZ

MOTOR-WHEEL REDUCTION GEAR • Structural parts and gears of motor-wheel reduction gear are made from high quality alloyed steel with application of the most up-todate technologies. • The applied kinematic design provides transfer of the torque to the wheel hub simultaneously from the first and the second row of reduction gear and allows to use the space inside the wheel rim with maximum efficiency and helps to reduce the acting loads and to increase service life of the reduction gear. • The design of motor-wheel reduction gear allows for replacement of any part without removal of tires that cuts down the servicing and repair time for the unit. • The design of motor-wheel reduction gear allowed to apply hub cuffs with smaller diameter that helped to reduce the sliding velocity and to increase reliability and service life of the unit. For the same reason the system is installed to supply grease to hub cuffs. This grease feeding system is connected to the centralized lubrication system of dump truck. • Engineering solutions applied in the design of the reduction gear allows to eliminate impact of the deformations that emerge during operation on work of gears and bearings of reduction gear providing its reliability and durability.

.

Competitive advantages of mining dump trucks BELAZ

ELECTRODYNAMIC RETARDER • Significantly reduces mechanical wear of friction material of brake pads. • Provides effective deceleration throughout the whole speed range up to the zero speed. • Provides switching from the traction mode with full torque into retardation mode with full braking effort in less than a second. • Provides the opportunity to operate loaded dump truck moving downhill without any time limit for movement on slopes of up to 14% for BELAZ-75315 and on slopes up to 17% for BELAZ-75602 and BELAZ-75603. SUSPENSION • The suspension of dump truck is of pneumohydraulic type with built-in hydraulic shock absorber. In combination with conventional design of the guiding system the suspension provides unsurpassed smooth ride, performance, cruising speed, rolling resistance, long components life and operator's comfort.

.

Competitive advantages of mining dump trucks BELAZ

BRAKE GEARS • Design of front and rear service brakes and parking brake is developed with application of a single unified brake pad. • Developed area of friction material of brake pads allows to use the parking brake system to stop the truck in an emergency situation. STEERING • The design of hydrostatic drive system eliminates mechanical feedback and provides rational placement of hydraulic components on the chassis. • Availability of pneumohydraulic accumulators provides safety of control in emergency situation. • Small turning radius combined with a short wheel base provide high maneuverability of dump truck. HYDRAULIC SYSTEM • Combined hydraulic system for body hoist, steering and brakes allows unify hydraulic drive and to reduce the number of hydraulic components in the system. • Use of variable capacity pumps with pressure control unit helps to reduce power loss in the drive system and to provide oil cooling in different climatic zones without radiators.

.

High productivity, reliability and efficiency of dump trucks are assured due to use of highly efficient diesel engines manufactured by leading engine-building companies of the world, AC/AC electromechanical transmission, efficient body hoist.

Primary engine systems Fuel tank with increased capacity provides 2428 working hours (depending on operation conditions) without refueling. Fuel tank is equipped with level indicator and lockable filler neck cap. Fuel tank design facilitates collection and drainage of water with minimum fuel loss. Exhaust gases evacuation is made through mufflers or body structure to provide heating of body bottom plate and side-boards in order to eliminate freezing of the load at low temperatures.

.

Double-circuit engine cooling system provides operation of dump trucks in different climatic conditions from -50ОС to +50ОС. Three-stage filter (with the first cleaning stage of inertial type, the second — dry-type filter element, and the third — safety dry-type filter element) provides purification efficiency more than 99%.

Transmission Electromechanical transmission with AC/AC electric drive by Siemens (USA) with traction alternator, two traction electric motors and motor-wheel reduction gears, auxiliary electric machines, adjustment and control devices.  Electric differential gear  Antiskidding system  Sealing and ventilation of control cabinet  Antislipping system  Slope speed hold system  Automatic speed restriction  Control and diagnostic systems

.

Good maneuverability and smooth ride of dump trucks is achieved due to optimally chosen geometric parameters of the truck and steering, and application of pneumohydraulic suspension of original design.

Steering

Hydrostatic with fluid amplifier driven by variable-flow pump. Emergency drive is of hydraulic accumulator type.

Hydraulic system Hydraulic pumps produced by BĐžsch-Rexroth (Germany).Combined hydraulic system for body hoist, steering and brake gears drive. Hydraulic system comprises oil tank, axial-piston pump with cardan drive from traction alternator shaft, fluid distribution equipment based on threeposition hydraulic distributor of spool valve type with safety valves and high pressure hoses. Electrohydraulic control.

Body hoist

Two body hoist cylinders with electrohydraulic drive Electric control

.

Brake systems 

Service brake system:

Front wheels - dry disk brake with four gears per disk. Rear wheels – dry disk brakes with one brake gear per disk and automatic clearance adjustment in friction pair. The disks are mounted on the shafts of traction electric motors. Separate hydraulic drive for front and rear wheels. 

Parking brake – constantly closed system with two brake gears on outer brake disk of traction electric motor. Spring actuation, hydraulic control.

Emergency brake system — uses combination of intact circuit of service brake, parking brake and retarder. Retarding system — electrodynamic braking with traction electric motors in alternator mode with forced air cooling of brake resistors. Forced air cooling of brake resistors.

Suspension Front and rear conventional suspension comprises two cylinders, suspension arm with central hinge and transversal rod. Suspension cylinders are pneumohydraulic (nitrogen, oil) with in-built hydraulic damper. Two cylinders both on the front axle and on the rear axle.

Frame and body

Long service life of dump trucks is attained due to use of up-to-date power units, high technical level of components, use of high-strength materials for frame and body manufacturing.

Frame is a welded structure of highstrength low-alloyed steel. Box-section variable height frame rails are interconnected by cross-members. Castings are applied in high load zones.

. Body is a welded bucket-type structure. Body has a protective canopy and is heated by engine exhaust gases. Ultimate strength в of steel sheet — 1050 MPa Yield strength Т — 950 N/mm2 Hardness — 360 НВ Safety system — FOPS

Siemens Electric Drive o Low operating costs The differential torque control increases the life of tires and brakes. SIRAS remote diagnosis and MIDAS system analysis and management tools help prevent repairs and downtimes. In addition, sophisticated cooling technologies provide very high power levels in a compact package. o Proven reliability Advantages of IGBT include less weight and volume as well as increased efficiency. o Less maintenance Without commutators or brushes, all that has to be done to maintain these motors is to lubricate them once a year! o More productivity Provides high rimpull at stall and moves quickly, even on ramps, to transport more material in less time. o Safety and environment State-of-the-art control techniques maximize operator safety and system performance.

Cab
