Issues
Packaging may be necessary for products. However, hair dye products do not require to be over packaged. In a typical packaging, hair dye products consists of Bottle A: Developer Cream, Bottle B: Colour Cream, Conditioner, a pair of gloves and instruction sheet in a box. The way to use this product is to mix both Bottle B into Bottle A, where Bottle A is larger to contain both liquids, a total of 100ml. The first problem occurs is when Bottle B is thrown away. Secondly, there is a pair of gloves provided in the packaging. During application, the user does not need to use both hands onto the hair as one hand will be holding Bottle A. At times, a comb is required to spread the solution evenly onto the hair. The third problem is the instruction sheet. Some information is printed on the box and is also repeated on the sheet. Typically, a large picture of a model with the colour of the hair is on one side of the box which takes a lot of space for information to be printed on. Colour outcomes are also printed on the other side of the box to show user what the possible outcomes are from their original hair colour (usually 2-3 hair colours). This shows that the large image of the model is not necessary because it does not show the closest possible outcome for each individual’s hair colour.

SOLUTIONS
Concept
The concept is to combine both Bottle A and Bottle B into one single device. The shape is also to be considered so it enables to provide the user with easy mixing, handling and application.

Solutions from each tubes will be pushed through a valve into a mixer compartment. The valve will stop the solution from flowing back to the tubes to avoid activation by accident.

Purpose
The purpose of the new concept is to dispose unnecessary packaging, which in this case (for hair dye products), it exists. The benefits are: • • • • • •
