CNG ATHLETICS PHILOSOPHY

CHARACTER EDUCATION ATHLETIC PROGRAM

The role of the Department of Athletics and Co-Curricular Activities is to extend the mission and vision of CNG beyond the four walls of the classroom. While the direct focus is strengthening the body to pursue competitive success, we also believe in sports as a vehicle for educating the mind and developing character. Our studentathletes may acquire the necessary tools to meet their potential for excellence in the future, both on and off the playing field.

At CNG, we are purposeful in our efforts to shape our students’ character in preparation for a life well lived by actively fostering social-emotional competencies, growth mindsets, ethical judgment, and reflective capacity. The cross-disciplinary and comprehensive approach that we weave across school life we call Character for Life. We address Character for Life in all core content areas, extracurricular activities, and sports, as well as day-to-day teachable moments. Our Next Dream:

A CUTTING - EDGE, 5 - STORY INNOVATION CENTER!

Help US make our NEXT DREAM a reality! www.giving.cng.edu

BUILDING CNG’S FUTURE CAMPAIGN The Building CNG’s Future Campaign aims to raise $8.5 million USD for our next dream: A Cutting-Edge 5-Story Innovation Center. In order to advance our visionary future, we need more room for Design-Thinking, Project-Based Learning, and STEM across all grade levels. Our students today and tomorrow will need the following 21st-century skills to succeed in a rapidly changing world: innovation, creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS This system of diplomacy and debate, based on the United Nations, was brought to Colombia by CNG in 1982. Today, more than 40 schools in Colombia and 700 students nationwide participate in the Model. In every conference, student delegates are assigned a diplomatic role to represent a given country. They face international problems, as per adults, and reach viable solutions as a group. MUN provides students with empathy and knowledge of the world they live in, as well as opportunities to analyze, discuss, negotiate, meet people from other schools, and understand how the actual United Nations functions.
