COVID 19 UPDATE FOR CNG

PROJECT 2025

safety and health of all our community and adhering to local and national guidelines. 2020-21 began online, and continued with 16 extracurricular activities, athletic games or tournaments. Virtual social service opportunities were created for the students to comply with their mandatory hours. 2021-22 entailed four weeks of all-virtual mode and local health regulations regarding clusters. All activities resumed. 202223 has begun fully presencial with enhanced instruction and activities, derived from the lessons learned during the pandemic.

This major new initiative incorporates into CNG’s schoolwide curricular program the components of design thinking, project-based learning, and STEM courses to provide students with open-ended design challenges, which help develop their 21st-century skills. The project includes two partnerships that support the creation of new programs along with professional development for teachers and specialists. Stanford d.school provides ongoing professional learning for the entire staff and the NuVuX consortium of schools, associated with MIT’s Design Lab, supports K-12 curriculum planning and the development of studio projects.

SOCIAL SERVICE

ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES CNG believes in maximizing the individual potential of all students. In levels of support based upon their needs through our Learning Center learning needs can have support in the form of an IEP, IAP, or ILP, and through specially designed classes.

CNG empowers students to become citizens of leadership and service through community service and service learning projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our core outreach program is our sister-school, Colegio Fundación Nueva Granada. All students carry out at least 80 hours of service during their HS years. HS students served 12,055 hours during the 2021-2022 school year.

GOA AND VHS ONLINE CLASSES

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

As of Fall 2020, high school students have been able to take online classes through Global Online Academy (GOA), a consortium of leading independent schools from around the world reimagining learning to empower students and educators to thrive in a globally networked society of learners, as well as from Virtual High School (VHS), a fully online, asynchronous secondary school accredited

High School students have numerous opportunities to participate in athletics, visual and performing arts, community service options, student organizations, and academic clubs. Our activities snapshot includes Ambassadors, Model United Nations, Student Council, National Honor Society, Athletics, Drama Productions, CNG Heroes, and Math and Physics Olympiad competitions.

SENIOR RESEARCH PROJECT (SRP)

CLASSROOM WITHOUT WALLS (CWW)

courses help students develop a research project that draws conclusions from student-generated data as relevant to a community of practitioners. Students write a 4,000-5,000 word paper and prepare an oral presentation and defense. Students develop academic research skills (i.e, annotated bibliography, literature review, methodology, etc.) needed in university.

The experience of a lifetime! Students are challenged to take what they are learning (curriculum) and apply it, supported by the United Nations Sustainability Goals, in a real-world context. The program is built around CNG’s vision statement, with a community service focus. Students are empowered locally and / or nationally.
