ASSESSMENT POLICY
AP HIGHLIGHTS
CNG employs a standards based grading system which takes into account student performance on Formative and Summative Assessments. Formative Assessments provide timely and effective feedback, inform teaching and learning plans of teachers and are part of the body of evidence of student learning. They are “no-count,” low-risk feedback to prepare students for summative assessments. Summative Assessments are conducted at the end of a learning unit. Single or multiple benchmarks may be assessed, are graded and recorded, and account for the entirety of a student’s grade in a class. Students may only resubmit ONE summative assessment per class per semester. This recent change of policy might impact GPA’s compared to previous years.

CODE OF HONOR COUNCIL
COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Code of Honor Council members review and make determinations whether any disciplinary issue in a student’s file reaches the level for reporting to universities, when pertinent or required, based on the CNG Honor Code and its established criteria.
CNG empowers students to become citizens of leadership and service through community service and service learning projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our core outreach program is our sister-school, Colegio Fundación Nueva Granada. All students complete at least 80 hours of service during their HS years. HS students served 12,652 hours during the 2022-2023 school year.
ACADEMIC SUPPORT SERVICES CNG believes in maximizing the individual potential of all students. In high school, students with learning exceptionalities receive different levels of support based upon their needs through our Learning Center or our Gifted-and-Talented programs. Students with exceptional learning needs can have support in the form of an IEP, IAP, or ILP, and through specially designed classes.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES High School students have numerous opportunities to participate in athletics, visual and performing arts, community service options, student organizations, and academic clubs. Our activities snapshot includes Ambassadors, Model United Nations, Student Council, National Honor Society, Athletics, Drama Productions, CNG Heroes, and Math and Physics Olympiad competitions.
CLASSROOM WITHOUT WALLS (CWW) The experience of a lifetime! Students are challenged to take what they are learning (curriculum) and apply it, supported by the United Nations Sustainability Goals, in a real-world context. The program is built around CNG’s vision statement, with a community service focus. Students are empowered locally and / or nationally.
PROJECT INNOVATION LEARNING Project Innovation Learning, focuses on students developing success skills for becoming reflective sensemakers, confident team players, resilient innovators, and ethical change agents. Students grow into the learner profile by engaging in the innovative pedagogical frameworks such as Project-Based Learning, Design Thinking, and Service Learning practiced at the school allowing them to adapt to the uncertainties of ever-changing job markets in an increasingly interconnected global economy, and effectively face the diverse and complex challenges of humanity’s collective future.
SENIOR RESEARCH PROJECT (SRP) During Senior year, students develop an original research project related to a personal or professional passion to generate their own data or creation, relevant to their field of study. Projects range from artistic creations to studies guided by reknowned scholars. Students write a 4,000-5,000 word paper and prepare an oral presentation and defense. In addition, students gain familiarity in the basic elements of academic research (i.e, annotated bibliography, literature review, research methods, etc.).
