KEY BENEFITS OF PARKS AND OPEN SPACES IN LETHBRIDGE

“Parks connect us to our past”

Parks and natural spaces play a crucial role in helping to pro le and protect elements of our community’s dynamic heritage. Cottonwood Park, Sixmile Coulee, Indian Battle Park, Galt Gardens, Henderson Park and Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens are just a few of the historically and culturally signi cant areas integrated into the City’s park system.

Water is signi cant to the history of southern Alberta. The Oldman River Valley is home to a number of heritage sites and interpretive features that provide opportunities for residents to learn about how water has impacted the development of Lethbridge.

The City of Lethbridge acknowledges that we are located on the traditional lands of the Blackfoot people of the Canadian Plains. We pay respect the Blackfoot people past, present and future while recognizing and respecting their cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship to the land.
