PAUL MANNING NOTES FROM THE CHAIRMAN 4

Here we are back at the Berry Street Garage Stadium after almost two years Unlessaway.Iam wrong, our last home game here was on Boxing Day in 2020 in a 2-1 defeat to Marine in front of a covid restricted capacity crowd of 600, which took place just 10 days before their historic FA Cup 3rd round tie at home to Spurs. Covid had wrecked that season and it was officially curtailed shortly after the Marine game. I won’t bore everyone with the detail of what led to us leaving Bootle, but history will show that it was not a good decision on the part of either club. We are now back at a much improved Berry Street Garage Stadi um and looking forward to Season Pre-Season2022/23. is a funny period where the key focus is returning the players to fitness for the new season, but in games of football, staff, players and supporters all want to win, so it be comes a hard balance to find.

Club Directors want to win every game possible in order to build momentum for the new season, and literally nobody likes losing, especially to teams below you in the pyramid, but it happens.

On a separate subject, club memberships are still available until the 31st August so if you hav en’t as yet bought a membership or renewed for Season 2022/23 please do, its very easy to do it at poolfc.co.ukwww.memberships.cityofliverWeareabouttobuckthetrendofmembershipsgoingdownyearonyear.Wearealreadyataround350whichisover100upfromlastseasonandabout50upfromSeason2020/21andwe’vestillgotoveramonthtogobeforethewindowclosesfortheSeason.Iamhopefulthatwecangetto400+,whichwillstandusingoodsteadfortheyearahead.ThenitisjustuptoElloandtheladstoputonanexcitingseasonwherewearechallenging,andwecanallhaveasmileonourfaces.#UTP

In Italy, where screening is mandatory for all young people engaged in organised sport, they have reduced the incidence of young sudden cardiac death by 89%. Warning signs may include light-headedness, fainting, palpitations, swollen legs, breathlessness. ARVC can be found in one in every 1,000 to 5,000 young adults IF IT IS LOOKED FOR. SCD is the leading cause of death in young athletes during sport and the majority of deaths occur with NO SYMPTOMS or family history.

Dan played football from an early age and joined Hull City AFC when he was 10, earning a professional contract aged 18. Loughborough University followed where he completed a degree in Accounting and Financial Management while playing non league football. He was an athlete who enjoyed the gym and took his health and nutrition very seriously. He lived life to the full and had so much ahead of him.

The Daniel Wilkinson Foundation is a charity set up in memory of Daniel Wilkinson who died in 2016 aged 24, while playing the game he loved, from an underlying heart condition called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC).
