The Periyar University Distance Education established the directorate of Periyar University Centre for Online and Distance Education (PUCODE). The Periyar Institue of Distance Education (PRIDE) starts working in 2001-02. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Arts, science, commerce, and management. Periyar University received 12(B) and 2(f) status by UGC-DEB, New Delhi. It has also been reaccredited with the Grade “A++” certificate by NAAC in 2021. Besides, the NIRF (National Institute of Ranking Framework) rank of the university is 73rd and the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement (ARIIA) is 10th. The University is a state university located in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu. It has been named after the Great Social Reformer E.V. Ramasamy, also called “Thanthai Periyar”. The logo of the university describes “Arival Vilayum Ulagu” (Wisdom Make the World). Whereas the primary objective of the university is to develop “The Holistic Approach of the Students”.
