2D-3D-2D thinking between dimensions

With the given topography patterns as narratives, we tried to understand the meaning of the lines, contours, colors different differences and their relationships with each other. natural air conditioner My experient here as follows: I left two identical wet cloth on the door side and window side of the room and examined the wetness conditions for two hours to find the moisture density distribuition in the room. At te end of every two hours in my review Mehmet Veysi Kaya

,Äą was that the cloth on the door side

was always a little bit wet. With this experiment I achive to the conclusion that the distrubtion of moisture density in the room is not the same everywhere and the density decreases from the door to the window side.

My experiment here as follows: there are three different opening in the room: window, dors, and vantilation.Here, I tried to measure the direction and intensity of the wind in the room by examining the wind, keep the window, door, vantilation open/close at different combination. With this experiment, I achive the conclusion that the wind from the window to the door in the room is more severe than the wind from the window to the vantilation and the direction of the wind is always from window to room.

In the most desperate time, ‘‘DAHLIAS’’ bloom in the balcony and bring

some color to the family’s life in this chaos, dust and grey of the city. With the help of sun, they reveal red-orange colors just like autumn. When the golden hour comes, household enjoy their drink with a Lana Del Rey song in a chill air while it also provides a comfortable shadow-curtain for them... ‘‘CRASSULA’’ is the easiest plant to care in our balcony!’’ says the Rusçuklu Family. It is a humble and generous plant which does not require a lot while promises to bring luck and money to the house. Only thing that they do not like is angry wind, so they are placed in the ‘‘B Area’’ (see on the plan)... ‘‘GERANIUMS’’ have a bold and distinct personality. They show-up their cute colors in the summer while they create their own perfume zone. Nilüfer(Seray’s mom) loves smelling them and talking to them and sunbathing while laying on the floor under the partial shadow of them... ‘‘GAZANIAS’’ are really extroverted and cheer up whereever they go. They are also super social. With their best friend wind, they travel all the time and begin to pollinate. Since they are life of the party, they close-up their petals when the sun goes down. In the morning, they are ready to mingle! ‘‘FIRECRACKERS’’ enjoy a true sun-light and expose their happiness with a firework display in the house. Sometimes, they got into contact with the tree and sang nice songs when it is windy. Seray loves watching its willow-like shadows on the walls of the living room while listening its soothing melody. 111

Situations where air flow reflects, accelerates and changes direction were observed with the help of some

kind of tools.

How the moisture formed due to the us of hot water in the bathroom affects the space was examined. The result of condensation formed as a result of this effects were observed.

Condensation due to moisture occurs in the bathroom. Ä°n condensation formation, temperature differrence, heat capacity and thermal counductivity of the surface and factors like wind play a role. After all these, condensation occurs and the condensing water vapor becomes liquid again and starts to flow through the walls. It leads to a vertical water flow.

Every day, every hour, even every minute, the place that surrounds us is changing and living. Humans, animals and other living-beings are corresponding to these changing climatic factors and spaces.In this work, we discussed if it is possible to create one objective map for a specific place. We took different parts of Taksim Square and observed people, animals, wind, sun and shadow, noises, heat zones and so many other factors that determine our behaviors in this place. We also discussed and found new ways to explain these conditions on the map by sketches.

After weeks and weeks we have done site visits, observations, sketches, talkings with the locals, project researches, models, collages and so many more... And, we found ourselves that, we constitute a part of Tarlabaşı too. We have learned to think like them, see the unseeable in the streets like them. We have learned how to follow the tracks of weather, how to communicate with it and how to hear the unaudible. But the most important thing is, we have imagined how would be a collective life in Tarlabaşı by making direct contact with the weather, something “weather habitable” ...

ghostzilla I am the biggest tree of Tarlabaşı. My owner left me years ago. I don’t remember her face. I have been lonely and unhappy ever since. Nobody understands me, they just look at me and get surprised and go on their way. I am very Görkey Gürel

bored with this situation. I was stuck where I’ve lived for years.

I am the newest member of this street. Two weeks ago, the landlord left the house. They put me on the sidewalk in front of the house. It hasn’t rained for days, the weather is so cold, and I’m alone. Please, somebody come and get me out of this situation or I’ll have to do something.

I was fired from the shop two years ago. My branches were cut, I was exposed to drugs, but I did not give up living. I invaded the wall next to the shop and held onto life.

The whole problem was the duration of the invasion. How long would it take? All the forgotten, abandoned plants set out to invade, but what would happen at the end? Will the invasion be single-centered or multi-centered?

Medine Yönet The deformation game is a project where the paper collector children live in Tarlabaşı, where all the children reach the awareness of the climate that -observing the characteristics of the sun such as deformation, heat, lightwhile playing games,produce paper. The game is not only the fiction that children play in their spare time. A production process can also be a game. And not only children can play the game, the streets, the sun, the structures have games. 236

The sun also has a play in Tarlabaşı. It leaves various traces on the facade of the solar buildings, united by other climatic conditions. Can a new game be produced by considering the deformation of the sun and children? Does this game make a deformation raw material and perform the production process?

Paper collector children have a house that opens and closes in order to receive the sun. Zeliha sister has a house with a canopy that can rotate to watch the street. There vvare units where paper collectors can store their papers. Some papers are separated and cut up by children to be used and reused. It is muddy and waited for a while. Then it is pressed at the jumping corner and dried in the sun. And this area has a facade coating.

Tarlabaşı a neighborhood once populated by rich communities, is know hosts people from different cultures and low income level. The neighborhood is pretty much feared by lots of people because of its high rate of crime. Because of the isolation of the neighborhood from other worlds people who live in there can somtimes fell themselves unwanted or lonely. This loneliness unfortunately base drug addiction or substance abuse. However Tarlabaşı has so much potential with improving abilities of people. With a new hope and a new addiction it is possible to save our children from this bad habits. This addiction has to give people their self confidence back and make people connected to world more. This addiction can be music or

odyssey This project area, which lies between two tall buildings, is actually the junction of 3 streets, one of which is a dead-end street. A market is set up in front of this area on Sundays and people cannot find a place to rest with shopping bags in their hands. Oddyses open and closed areas aim to adapt to the different Su GĂźven

temperature and density of these 3 streets. In addition, people can both pass from street to street and use this place to rest.

weatherhabitable What does TarlabaĹ&#x;Äą want? When you analyze there, you always notice: People usually run away from looking at your face. They feel away from the municipality and official institutions. The Odyssey project was considered to make it better. It aims to enable the neighborhood and architects to communicate comfortably. For this, the designers are starting to live there. In Odyssey, we can see the passage of 3 streets and the passage of people and architects living here. In this design, which has a floor height with half elevations, it was aimed to add entertainment to this narrow space between two tall buildings by including open and closed forum areas, living spaces, public spaces, green spaces and terrace. There was also a dress room for those who need help to attract the neighborhood and to strengthen communication, and a room where the barber, tailor, electric master, and shoe repairer came on certain days.

This structure should not have been here before; if it had existed it should not have been noticed while walking without looking around. She began to think that the children around her had been watching her, but she realized that this was not the case. They were going to this structure. She succumbed to her curiosity and plunged in.

when she came in, she saw lots of children running around. Same of them ran around senselessly, while a team of children were playing hide-and-seek. This made her uncomfortable because she did not like other children. But when she look around, she realized that some craftsmen were working in the glass-covered spaces on the sides. Now, this place is getting more attention to her. As soon as she entered, she began to watch through the window of the ceramic atelier. There was a master of ceramics and two child of her own age trying to make pots. Perhaps all prejudices were wrong, not all children were the same...

Taner Durgut While spending time here, she noticed that she was hungary and went to kitchen in the middle with her master and prepared something for them. Then the children she met in the workshop began to show her around. There were wood craftsman, glass craftsman, tailors and painters. She did not realize how high she was and startled when she look down the perforated floor. She wanted to go down and they went down together. There was a closed space at the bottom floor, the sound of music coming from inside. She went and saw some children trying to play guitar and violin. This excited her quiet a bit. She started to look at all the children differently and spend time with them. Here they started to have fun together and learn from these artisans around.

While Tarlabaşı is one of the elite districts of Istanbul where consuls live in the old times (when Istanbul was the capital), today here is a place that has evolved into an urban collapse area. We had prejudices before our first visit to Tarlabaşı, we can say that it changed in time. We met so kind and sincere people. Maybe Tarlabaşı is shown badly in the media because Tarlabasi will be an urban renewal area, who knows? It is not possible to see Tarlabaşı people in the ARTER art gallery next to Tarlabaşı. (ARTER came here with the urban renewal.) Because they have worries about their essentials before the aesthetic concerns. Maybe one day, it will chance with imaginations like ours.

The upper floor of the lonely man there was a crowded family which are from Rize.They have a hotel in front of Tarlabaşı intersection. On the upper floo, there was a man which is well-groomed, stylish dress and has a great Turkish. He is Mason. On the second floor, there was an old man couple which are from Urfa. Their children visit sometimes. There was a Persian girl on the first floor. Her guest never end. When the door is opened, the smell of food would come from inside. The flowers bloom in spring, and the silkworms knitted their cocoons.The silkworms found the most special corner for them on the light black net.Knitted to wait for winging, flying, to color.Then they opened their cocoons, their colorful wings and fly to freedom. They are put in the noses of the children.The sewing workshop was excited. The walls built for the winter began to be dismantled. They were set aside to be built again. Kites flying in the air as yarns in the spring.

In the fall, the baby silkworms plucked the leaves one by one. They ate and slept, again and again. Not knowing what to expect. The reels stopped, the paints dried out. The couple from Urfa waited for their grandchildren to knit a vest. They knit their rooms to prepare for the winter.

In the summer, mulberries have ripened.Children filled on the trees. While collecting mulberry, their hands were painted with muldberry red and picking fruit from the tree has never been easier.The silkworms were “pupa�. The last silkworms that will be winged this year had eaten fresh leaves.Paint balloons got excited, and the reels kept turning. The dyed ones rushed to their reel.

A day starts with a chirp in my place. Sometimes sparrows trigger the dawn chorus before crows. Then it’s my time to go down to the pond and collect mayfly larvas. I dry them till noon. It‘s my birds’ favourite snack.

Doğu Tonkur When it rains, Tarlabaşı streets turn into brooks. In fact there were already streams in this valley of Dolapdere once. So our nest soaks up there water to its system. Rain means life in the nest.

Water fills into the ponds where I grow my mayfly larvas. Fringes of capillar cords abrosbes water to the nest. Water climbs up to terrace, supplying water for plants.

I plant the most attractive plants. Not only the local birds stay in our nest, but also many migrating birds visit here. So it is crucial to invite them to our, so to say caravansary.

In terrace and high observatuary as the people record and document, these materials are collected in the archieve. This whole process brings up a collective imagination and information treasury in the heart of our nest where people learn, share produce and live.
