Lockdown Confessions
e can all use a little levity in these rather turbulent and challenging times. And while we’re all going through similar experiences that are trying our survival skills and patience—such as “The Great T.P. shortage of 2020,” “Where’s The Beef in 2020?,” “No, you can’t drink bleach to cure COVID-19!” and “Now what are we supposed to watch—we’ve finished all of Netflix?”—I decided to survey some of our city’s most notable characters to see what they’ve been doing, watching or eating during the lockdown.
While I am attempting to bring a lighthearted moment into the lives of my readers, I do not wish to be irreverent to those who are struggling from related issues and/or are recovering from COVID-19 itself. All of you remain in my thoughts, and all of us at Carmel Monthly are wishing you all the best as we navigate these uncharted waters together as one community. W

Retired NBA Player/Sports Personality/Realtor Scot Pollard
Video Conferences: Pants or no pants? Scot: No pants! (Never stand up during one)
And what is the official quarantine snack of the Pollard household? This is a “must-have” that you would scour the earth if you didn’t have immediate access to. Scot: Wine. Just kidding. Sort of. We all go for chips. Dawn and I like spicy, and the kids like Fritos.

As a working-at-home mom, how would you prioritize your “to-do” list on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being most important): Cleaning the house to operating-room standards: 2. Near impossible with a threeyear-old at home! Ordering curbside or delivery because your kitchen is closed!: 5. Some days you just need food from your favorite local restaurants.
Hiding the good lockdown snacks in a secret stash: 8. Out of husband’s sight and toddler reach for sure. Happy Hour(s): 8. My friends and family depend on my wine reviews. Binge-watching “Tiger King”: 7. Definitely watched all episodes!
Legitimate exercise: 10. This helps me feel physically and mentally strong! Plus, I ate all the quarantine snacks.
Zoom with friends: 7. It’s important to stay connected and laugh with your friends!
President/CEO at The Center for Performing Arts Jeff McDermott
As part of your adaptation to lockdown living, what in your wardrobe has taken the place of your exquisite suit and tie collection that you typically don at the office? Jeff: It greatly depends on whether or not I have a video meeting (i.e., Teams, Zoom or Skype) scheduled during the day. Most days that has been the case, which means I am typically in a collared shirt for some sort of a respectable looking shot from the shoulders up. If no video meeting is involved, it is more likely a T-shirt or sweatshirt. Regardless, I have worn nothing but shorts or sweatpants since March 13 and shoes have been very optional.
City Council Representative, and Shari Worrell, Jeff’s better half Jeff Worrell
Having spent the last several weeks “locked-in” with your better half, what is one thing that you’ve learned about one another that you didn’t know prior to the lockdown? Shari: I learned that when Jeff can’t get his Starbucks fix, he prefers Maxwell House over Folgers. And … he hates puzzles. Jeff: I learned Shari has an eye for staging and production that came out during our Worrellski Joke videos on FB
