UCI Police Department (UCIPD) provides a safe and secure environment for the entire campus. All UCI Police Officers are statecertified and exercise full law enforcement powers to make arrests, uphold all applicable laws and provide any necessary enforcement services. UCIPD takes great pride in its community policing efforts and works closely with the UCI community, City of Irvine Police Department and the Orange County Fire Authority.

In addition to 24-hour police patrol and response services, UCIPD provides:

24-hour 9-1-1 Communications

Center: Immediately dispatch police, fire and medical services anywhere on campus.

Blue Light Emergency Phones

throughout campus provide 24/7 location is provided directly to the dispatcher for all calls made via 9-1-1 and Blue Light Phone. zotALERT emergency alert system that uses cell phone text messaging to quickly notify the UCI community with safety information. Students are urged to opt in at oit.uci.edu/zotalert. The system will send email copies of zotALERTs issued in emergency situations to all current faculty, staff and students.

Campus Safety Escorts: Free service provided to members of the UCI emergency response. The caller’s

Secure in place: Go to the nearest room or office, close and lock the door.

Stay put until an all-clear message is issued. Students off campus should stay off campus.
