We are thrilled your student has selected the University of South Florida for their college experience. Your family will find that USF is a special place filled with faculty and staff ready to help, coach, and support your student. We have designed this handbook to assist you in your transition by providing information, resources, and expectations surrounding the new student and family experience. You’ll find information that will deepen your understanding of the university community and assist you in supporting your student’s college experience. Research shows that family involvement is critical to student success. We view you as a valued partner here at USF. We find that students benefit when they have family supporters who encourage them to take responsibility for their actions and experience. To help guide some important conversations you’ll likely want to have with your student throughout the year, check out the “Family Conversation Starters” located throughout this handbook.

Your Campus Support

Because of the geographic distribution of our campuses, USF supports our students’ family members from three offices. The Office of Parent & Family Engagement is located on the Tampa campus and provides programs and services to students enrolled at that location. usf.edu/families
