TCU History & Traditions Self-Guided Audio Tour

® All Day | See Map p. 28 TCU is a place of spirited belonging where Horned Frogs have long found connection through our culture and traditions. Learn about the history and traditions that make TCU special on this new, self-guided audio tour. A map of the tour locations can be found on page 28 of this booklet. Each location has a QR code that, once scanned with a smart phone, activates an audio file about the specific tradition or piece of history at the location.

Campus Trees Self-Guided Audio Tour

® All Day | See Map p. 30 For the fifth consecutive year, TCU has earned Tree Campus USA recognition by the Arbor Day Foundation. The national program, launched in 2008, honors colleges and universities and their leaders for promoting healthy trees and engaging students and staff in the spirit of conservation. TCU values its diverse species of trees and its sustained commitment to maintaining and restoring campus ecosystems. The over 3,200 trees on campus truly make a positive impact on the attractiveness and charm of our campus and provide much-needed shade. Learn more about the trees on our campus by taking this new, self-guided audio tour. A map of the tour locations can be found on page 30 of this booklet. Each location has a QR code that, once scanned with a smart phone, activates an audio file about the specific species at the location.

Jane & John Justin Hall of Fame

® 8:00 a.m. –5:00 p.m. | Schollmaier Arena Concourse Sitting just inside the main entryway of the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena, the Jane & John Justin Hall of Fame celebrates not only men’s and women’s basketball, but all sports within TCU’s Athletic department. Trophies, uniforms, and more are on display to tell the story of Horned Frog Athletics.

Moudy Gallery

® 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. | Moudy Building Located in the same building that houses the TCU School of Art, Moudy Gallery showcases student work, including exhibitions by undergraduates and MFA students. This 900-square-foot space also functions as a responsive place for one-off or pop-up projects that students and faculty develop. TCU regularly shows its support for local professional artists by providing a collaborative environment in the Moudy Gallery as a testing ground for work-in-progress. Exhibitions or events of this kind help artists get involved in numerous ways and significantly benefit TCU students by enabling them to develop their professional networks with the local creative community. During Family Week, the Moudy Gallery will feature New Faculty Showcase: Dian Jian, TCU Assistant Professor of Art. Dan Jian is a visual artist who works across painting, drawing, animation, and video. At TCU, Dan teaches drawing and painting. She has exhibited her work internationally and here in the United States. Her Moudy Gallery showcase will feature new drawings and animations. Fort Worth Contemporary Arts Gallery

® 12:00 p.m. –5:00 p.m. | 2900 West Berry Street Fort Worth Contemporary Arts was established as a satellite space in 2008 to offer a platform for innovative contemporary art from an international context. Its regularly changing exhibition program reflects significant developments in art and often features artists’ work that has never been shown in Texas before or is being made on-site during a residency period. During Family Week, Fort Worth Contemporary Arts will feature the work of artists Dani and Sheilah ReStack. As partners and collaborators, Dani and Sheilah ReStack make video and photographic installations that explore connections between the domestic and the feral in contemporary life. Their approach weaves together real and mythical understandings of family, intimacy, place, desire, and ritual. They often employ aspects of social practice and performance as a means to examine queerness, site-specific histories, and human-animal relationships. Dani ReStack is an Associate Professor of Art at The Ohio State University. Sheilah ReStack is an Associate Professor of Art and Chair of Studio Art at Denison University. The Horned Frog Yearbook Pop-Up Experience

® 1:00 p.m. –5:00 p.m. | Brown-Lupton University Union Auditorium Since 1897, the student-run The Horned Frog yearbook has been recording TCU’s history. Even though the covers and layouts have changed over the years, the yearbook staff continues to maintain the same goal – to preserve the University’s history and traditions. Over 100 years later, the yearbook staff has continued the same way of preserving history. Come learn more about the history of this publication, flip through yearbooks dating back to the early 1900s, and see first-hand what makes The Horned Frog yearbook a beloved campus tradition.

Free Family Photos

Community Commons Grand Opening

® 3:30 p.m.–5:00 p.m. | Campus Commons The Community Commons is TCU’s outdoor living room. Come spend time with friends and make new ones as a part of this new campus tradition. Live music provided by TCU student talent. Refreshments will be served.

Sophomore Class Pinning

® 5:00pm | Brown-Lupton University Union Ballroom The Sophomore Class Pinning celebrates the return to campus of the previous year’s incoming class. The purpose of the event is to recognize and celebrate the demonstrated intent of sophomores to complete their education at TCU, encourage sophomores to assume their role as rising campus student leaders, and foster among sophomores a stronger connection and deeper affinity to their class and the institution as a whole. Students will participate in a brief ceremony, receive a class pin, and enjoy entertainment. For more information, call 817-257-7855.

TCU Parents Association Tailgate

® 3 Hours Prior to Kickoff | Kelly Center Lawn Prior to kickoff, join the TCU Parents Association for a TCU-style tailgate meal. All are welcome to attend. Meal tickets should have been pre-purchased in advance of the weekend. Frog Walk

® 2.5 Hours Prior to Kickoff | Frog Alley Come see your favorite Horned Frog Football players and coaches as they arrive at Amon G. Carter Stadium and walk through Frog Alley on their way to the locker room. You won’t want to miss this TCU tradition.

TCU Spirit March & Pre-Game Show

® 1 Hour Prior to Kickoff | Frog Alley and Amon G. Carter Stadium Get in the gameday spirit by watching the TCU Horned Frog Marching Band and spirit squads march by Frog Alley and into Amon G. Carter Stadium. Make sure you’re in your seats in the Stadium for their stadium pre-game show, starting 30 minutes prior to kickoff.
