Academic Regulations

All academic regulations, including maintaining good academic standing and academic probation, can be found online in the UIC Undergraduate Catalog and Policy Guide at catalog.uic.edu/ucat.

Maintaining Good Academic Standing

In order to have good academic standing, the student must maintain a 2.0 grade point average in all classes taken at the University of Illinois Chicago and in all work accepted by the university (transfer work). Some academic curricula may require students to meet a higher minimum grade point average.

Academic Probation

Ġ Students will be placed on academic probation at the end of any term in which they earn less than a cumulative grade point average of 2.0. For such a student, the probation serves as a warning. Ġ An entering transfer/readmit student with a combined cumulative grade point average lower than 2.0 (admitted by petition) will be immediately placed on probation.
