Welcome, Families, to Kennesaw State University

We are so excited that you have chosen Kennesaw State University.

Your student’s college experience is an exciting time for the whole family, and your role in your student’s life will be integral in the coming years. Research shows that family involvement is critical to student success. We hope that you know parents and families are valued as partners in education here at KSU. Students benefit when their family supports and participates in their university experience while also encouraging the student to take responsibility for that experience. The Kennesaw State University Parent and Family Programs (PFP) Office serves as a resource for families while they continue to support and encourage their student during the college transition. Our programs, resources and events strive to include parents and families into our university community along with encouraging student learning, development and success.

Three main objectives of PFP are to:

• Provide families with timely information about Kennesaw

State University services, programs and opportunities that enhance their child’s academic success and overall well-being. • Promote meaningful engagement for KSU families within our campus by developing programs and events of interest, especially those that assist with the initial transition to university life. • Affirm the important role KSU families play in the educational and developmental lives of their students.

Your involvement with the Parent and Family Association (PFA) begins now! We partner with campus resources and community organizations to bring you information, host numerous events including Family Weekend,

and offer a variety of benefits to complement your membership. The Parent and Family Programs Office is committed to providing support for you throughout the college experience. We are with you every step of the way. Go Owls!

Sincerely and supportively,

Sharon Brownlow Director, Parent and Family Programs Parent and Family Association (470) 578-6367 family@kennesaw.edu
