This year, guests can travel the way Europeans travel - via Europe's impeccable train system. Trains are currently a part of several itineraries, including one of my personal favorites, Alpine Lakes and Scenic Trains. For 2018, we looked at how and where we can use them more. The answer was clearly Switzerland. It was time to create a tour that left the traditional motorcoach behind and took to the rails in the beautiful country of Switzerland.

This medieval town sits along the shores of Lake Neuchatel. Guests will be immersed in the charms of chateaux, gothic architecture, and cobbled streets and delight in discovering the city that is home to some of the oldest and finest chocolate shops in Switzerland.
This picture-perfect Swiss resort town lies in the shadow of Switzerland’s majestic Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains. Outdoorsmen flock here for its endless outdoor activities, and all are taken by its charming ambiance and dramatic vistas.
Perched along Lake Geneva, it is considered one of the “Pearls of the Swiss Riviera." Its mild climate provides the rare opportunity to take in the Alpine views one moment and palm trees the next. Over centuries, the village has attracted many artists and writers, most notably Charlie Chaplin.

The tiny Bavarian hamlet of Oberammergau is once again preparing for a flood of travelers who will come from all over the world to see the Passion Play. In 1634, its villagers performed a
play that depicted the life and death of Jesus Christ and promised to perform it every ten years if God would spare them from the Bubonic Plague. No one fell victim to the Plague after that.
• The men in Oberammergau begin to grow long hair and beards 1 year prior to the start of each Passion Play for authenticity. • The play is performed in German – though its emotive depiction transcends language barriers.

Give travelers the true American experience – that is my goal. Each destination has its own rich history and cultural charms. I want to bring it all to life so that our guests can come to know the uniqueness of each region. This has always been a large part of our product, but I am trying to make it even more prominent as I develop my product for 2018. As I traveled through my territory this year, I asked myself – what is authentic to the destination and how can I share it with our guests? America has such an array of personalities; I would like them all to shine through on every tour.

I am kicking it up a notch in 2018. I have worked on creating a new flow for a tour that has been around for decades – California Coast. I am also adding new expereinces to the Treasures of Northern California tour that will allow our guests to dive deeper into the flavors of the region. In addition, I added some included choice on tour to an array of trips that will appeal to the more active traveler getting them out and into the destination, particularly into the National Parks.

Everybody Loves the Parks It is my goal to start attracting the more active traveler. I am adding an included choice on tour that allows them to explore the parks on foot. While still keeping the traditional sightseeing, I have added the following experiences:
• The Colorado Rockies – In Mesa Verde National Park, take a hike with a park ranger to explore a cliff dwelling.
• Spotlight on South Dakota – During your time in the Badlands, take a hike with a local guide, to not only see this amazing park, but hear, smell and touch it!
• National Parks of America and Canyon Country – At Zion National Park, take a leisurely walk to see the spectacular Emerald Pools and waterfalls. Remember: Everyone can enjoy the National Parks, from the active outdoorsy-type to the guests that need assistance walking. The parks do a wonderful job creating comfortable walkways and easy access to the sites. On a Collette tour, it is even easier...there is no finding a parking spot or walking to the entrance of the path. We take your guests right there!
