Fr Gerald, who is the St Brigid’s Church priest, hands out the meals from the church each Tuesday afternoon.
He said the program started last winter, supplying 15 people.
“Because of the response of the community, it has grown,” he said.
“I’m really grateful for the support of the community.”
He said Amaroo Deli, Sizzles Deli and Forrest French Hot Bread consistently donate their leftover food and fresh pro duce, which is then handed on to those in need.
Following the demand, a kitchen has been established in the church hall so Fr Gerald has enough room to cook the meals.
He said the program operates on a “first in, first served” system because de mand is so high.
“We don’t ask questions - it is not our place to ask,” he said. “We are just hap py to help.” Meals are available Tues days from 4pm at the front of the church. Meals can be delivered if arranged.
