Steven’s Rocky Courage Once upon a time, there was a boy named Steven who used to watch TV all day long. One day he saw a TV show were people were challenged to climb different kind of mountains and dangerous sceneries. He dreamed of being in that show, but he was very afraid of heights. His mom and dad had offered him many times to enroll him on a summer camp where there were many climbing activities, but his fear didn’t let him go. He always ended up with an excuse for not going. Otherwise, his sister Lily went every summer and had a great time, while he stayed at home watching TV. That summer was different, his sister had a plan for him. She secretly enrolled him on the camp. When he discovered what she had done, there was no way back. He had to confront his fears. He couldn’t tell her the truth about his fear for heights. This time he had to go. He had to be brave. Weeks came by, and his most feared day arrived. Their mom and dad took them to the camp. Steven was very nervous but didn’t want Lily to notice, so he acted as cool as he could. First day was very fun, he enjoyed it a lot. The next day, Dolores the team leader took them to their first climbing lesson in a small mountain. Steven couldn’t even eat his lunch because he was to nervous, even Dolores could hear his stomach scream grrrrr. This time he had escaped from his lesson. The third day was trickier; they had to climb a bigger mountain. Steven thought: “How Can I manage to get out of this one??? “ This time he told Dolores that he had sprained his ankle, but he could gladly could help her timing the other kids. That was a good one! Hooray! The fourth day was a nightmare, they had to climb the biggest mountain of the camp. This time he couldn’t come up with an excuse. He tried to arrive late, but Lily told Dolores to go and find him. Now there was no escape. He had to go. The kids started climbing the mountain, Lily’s turn was first. She began climbing the mountain, but at the middle of the way her rope got stuck on a rock. She was in danger. Steven was the closest person to her. Dolores was far away helping the other kids. He had his climbing equipment on, he had to save his sister. He started climbing the mountain, he had no time to be scared, Lily needed him. So he made his best effort to get to her until he finally reached her. He put the rock aside and saved Lily. Then both came down together safely. He finally was not afraid of heights; he had overcome his fears. It was the last day, it was time to say good bye. Dolores gave him the “Courage Medal”. Steven said: “See you next summer!!!!!!”
