Dani Binns Amazing Architect
Written by Lisa Rajan Illustrated by Alessia TrunfioChapter 1
“Welcome to the circus!” Dani Binns greeted her sister Tara in the spare bedroom. “Prepare to be amazed by the great Dani Binns, juggling –” announced Dani, scanning the contents of the toy box, “juggling … err … the Great Pyramids!”
She grabbed a squishy little beanbag from inside.
Every time Dani took a toy from the box, it sent her off on an adventure and gave her a new job. Her hand began to tingle. The tingling spread up her arm and around her whole body. Soon, she was spinning and tumbling through space and time …
When the spinning stopped, Dani found herself looking down on to the roof of a house. It looked tiny. Was she a giant, or had the house been shrunk somehow?
“Hi there!” called a boy sitting at an easel. “I’m Tai and this is Asha.”
Phew, thought Dani. They’re the same size as me, so I’m not a giant!
“We’re architects,” smiled Asha. “We design buildings, bridges, skyscrapers … anything!”
Of course! realised Dani. It’s a model of a house, not a real one.
“We’re designing a new building at the school,” said Asha, as they headed off for a site visit.
“They need more classrooms,” explained Tai, “but the only unused land on the school site is that narrow area of land next to the canal.”
